It's because their mormon/hutterite/christian freaks of nature. They believe that the more children they have, the closer they will be to God. I am vomiting as I write this. MORONS!

I have 5 kids and thank God mine have been spaced over 19 years. When you have that many kids you have to spend so much time working that it would seem you would have no time to actually have fun with any of them. But at least she seems to be able to do it with out a team of nannies, housekeepers, security guards or a team of PR people. The celebs you write about on here can't even have one kid without a team of people helping them out!!!!!!!!!!! And Jim Bob seems to be able to support all of them quite well, unlike those FLDS nutcase Dads who cheat and lie and get their wives on foodstamps because they have such incredible large families they can support them.
I've watched the TV shows about them. They seem like nice enough people but their kids and their house it looks too phony, too contrived. The kids are are spotless clean and constantly look like they just stepped out of some high-end fashion catalog. The kids never look like they have ever been outside just having fun. Their house always looks like a showplace. I can't quite figure out what it is they think they have to prove by having so many children?

Okay I have watched their specials on the discovery channel. This family is amazing. Yes they have several kids but to those people saying they cash cows and just trying to get charity. That part is not true. The father does work and they do recieve donations of different kinds. But they do not expect the donations. These people have a beautiful family. They work together as family to make the house work. So to those of you who are saying bad things about them that they are crazy, calling them cash cows, and some of you are just down right mean. I think you putting comments on here from the article and you have never seen any of the footage discovery has done on them. They are a wonderful family and quite frankly some of you can and need to take tips on how polite you should be to people. There children are raised to respect others and they strongly believe in "Do unto to others as you would have them do unto you"
Oh my freaking gosh, you people are morons. How can you judge someone like that without even knowing them? I know this family personally and they grow their own food, they are NOT mormons they are Mennonites, big difference! Mennonites don't believe in using modern technology (tv, video games, computers) to entertain them, they are like the Amish, but not as strict. They rely on books, games, etc. to keep them entertained. They do NOT live on the government they pay for everything they have by cash, they're not on welfare. Don't judge someone because you wouldn't personally live that way yourselves!

Parenting isn't just about the material necessities. Parenting is not about providing just clothes, a roof and food. Let's be honest, how much one on one time are those poor kids getting from Mommy and Daddy?

The older kids are responsible to take care of the youngers; hair, teeth brushed, dressed, etc. The older girls cook the food and set the table, and clean up afterwards… AND!!! those kids are so sheltered that there is no way they will grow up and find their counterparts. Noone should be so sheltered from society. We're not that bad!

I agree with Liz - these people are beyond absurd. Although nice, they seem very self absorbed. I've seen the TLC specials about the Duggers and couldn't help but notice that all of the older kids have a "buddy"…(i.e., the older ones help raise the younger)… should be interesting to see what the older ones are up to in about 5 years.

Personally I don't believe Jesus would want you to steal the opportunity and happiness from those who really need it by multiplying in mass quantities for fame and money.
Imagine how many children are sitting in orphanages wishing that people like them, people who LOVE children, would adopt them. How disappointing it must be to know that people like that would rather have their "own" kids instead of saving some lives.

I've seen the shows on this family and I can only wish they had more children. Their children are very well adjusted, respectful and intelligent. I've seen plenty of couples with one or two children who are just terrible and lack all of those qualities.

I don't understand why people feel that some people have too many children. If they can provide for all of them why shouldn't they have as many as they want.
