Donnie Darko 2: Blasphemous!!!

A sequel to cult film classic Donnie Darko is in the works.
Nooooooooooo!!!!!!!
The title of the sequel is S. Darko and it starts shooting on May 18th.
Daviegh Chase will reprise her role as Donnie's younger sister. The cast for S. Darko also includes Ed Westwick (Gossip Girls' Chuck Bass!), Briana Evigan (Step Up 2) and Justin Chatwin (Dragon Ball).
The story picks up seven years after the first film (and Donnie's death) when little sister Samantha Darko and her best friend Corey are now 18 and on a roadtrip to Los Angeles when they are plagued by bizarre visions.
There's no Donnie at all in the new film (sorry Jake Gyllenhaal fans), but there will be meteorites and rabbits.
We really wish they would've left Darko alone.

Silly attempt to get more money from a movie that was good in it's original form. Typical Hollywood with their 20 sequels to every good movie. At least the first one was worth watching.

i think it's a bad move. i don't see how a sequel to donnie darko could be good at all. i loved donnie darko when it FIRST came out when no one iked it. it's only because hot topid decieded to bring it back everyone is going crazy about it thinking it'll make them more "emo" or "scene" SO LAME! i think they should leave it alone. for all of you out there it's not going to make you seem cooler for loving it so much the movie is about TIME TRAVEL! get over itt.

They shouldnt mess with cult films. Rocky Horror Picture Show had SUCH a big following (STILL DOES!) ad then when they made a sequel in 1981 with out Frankfurter (Main Charecter), the movie bombed. (The Sequel was called Shock Treatment, I say its not TOO bad, but not nearly as good as RHPS)
I've gone back and forth on whether I think Donnie Darko was an "indie" sci fi masterpiece, or a movie filled with references to the abstract meant to confuse/distract viewers out of realizing the story is pointless. Not that it doesn't make sense. He dies to save his girlfriend. But why him? Because he's a schizo? And why save her? She has a big ass forehead! Currently I'm on the masterpiece boat…But that could change. A sequel could be possible if they had all the original fictionally living cast, and director/producer. Step up 2, gilmore girls, and the gay kid from WEEDS…This will be just peachy.

of course it won't be as good as the first, but i am excited to see any movie that has anything to do with donnie darko. if the "vibe" and the music are anywhere close to what it was like in donnie darko, i will be satisfied.
