the stupid kid only got 8 months of Jail time. when most people that commit the same crime get longer jail time. this is what happends when one of your parents are famous. I am suprised that he didn't get just a slap on the rist.

I said it before and I say it again, blame lies with the parents, terry and linda.
They raised their kids in an extremely privileged home without every instilling any sense of responsibility. They didn't even remotely attempt to steer their kids into a realistic sense of their place in the world, just because they are the kids of someone rich and famous they get to have no ambition or goals in life. How sad is that, no wonder so many kids from rich homes are such fuck ups.
And that same bad parenting also gives a reckless immature child who clearly has demonstrated he is not adult enough to handle such responsibility, a fucking turbo charged high performance racing car! And what does he do with such a luxury, he gets multiple citations and then jokes about it and shrugs it off. He's the son of a rich and famous person, so the law doesn't apply to him.

Well, since I was once married to a guy that grew up as "some working class kid who cannot afford expensive legal counsel," I can tell you that you most certainly are not correct there.
My ex-husband (who is 37 now, by the way), has EIGHT DUIs & is still walking the earth without so much as a care in the world. Oh, did I mention that he also owes $31k in back child support to our son that he hasn't seen but twice in 10 years because alcohol & drugs are much more important to him? Yet he walks free to enjoy whatever crap he's doing today…
So, I do indeed think Nick's punishment is harsh considering the accident. My ex had his first DUI at 16 (which actually gives him TEN but the juvenille ones fell off his record when he became an adult), causing an accident with 4 people in the car & almost killing someone & he only got a year probation.
Everyone deserves a second chance…now as for a 9th & 10th chance, I'm not so sure.
Re: honey – NO, most people do not get jail time, not even that lenghty of a probation on a first time offense for a negligent accident. You have to remember that the DUI was determined unfounded by the court and thrown out and not taken into consideration. So what you have left is a kid who gunned his car down Gulf Blvd and lost control. I see this shit every single day driving to and from work. These assholes in SUVs driving 20 miles over the speed limit, weaving around cars who aren't going "fast" enough for them. If one of those motherfuckers lost control of their rolling tank on weels and ended up seriously injuring someone, do you think they would go to jail and get 5 years probation. Hell no. They would get ticketed for reckless driving and MAYBE have their license suspended. The system made an extreme example out of Nick. I hope he comes out of this a fabulous, great person, and then makes an example out of them.
By the way, JAIL and PRISON are two different things. His sentence is cake. And yes he SHOULD be going to jail. He's 17, he's old enough to be tried as an adult. That's what he gets. Not every can bat their eyes and pay people off. Odds are he'll serve the whole sentence and not be set free after three days becuase of a rash because he is male, a "celebrity", and there was a victim. But really? I meesley 8 months jail and 5 years probo? I'm sure he'll be able to hire a driver to compensate for his license being suspended as well. I'd say he's getting off easy. It's a sad, sad situation…and boys are taught to do stupid macho things all the time, and these stupid things sometimes go terribly wrong. He expressed his remorse, said he prays for his friend every day, and he bravely faced his friend's family and apologized, which I'm not sure I could do, so I've gotta hand that to him. I just hope his family will stop trying to hide money from the injured guy's family. They deserve money to support their son forever AND to compensate them for his loss. That would be fair, and we will see in the civil trial unless there's a settlement.

I worked at the facility he will be visiting. It's a jail, not a prison. He will be in segregation due to his high profile status. There will be no raping. He will be in lockdown and serve all of his sentence.; there is no gain time.

Graziano knew that Nick had been drinking and also he knew that he was gonna go racing, so if you are smart enough i guess you wouldn`t get in to a car with him, so he is guilty too, HE WAS NOT FORCED TO GET INTO THAT CAR….he also responsible for his state and for his familys pain.

Last time I was in county locked up there were OPENLY GAY MEN. Upset they could NOT "Do Their Thing" without fearing getting additional time added to their sentences if caught. So I ASSURE you dreamers the boy will not get raped, as so many of you would like.

Nick won't learn anything - except to maybe not drop his soap in the shower. He'll get out early, somehow do less hours and less work and his daddy will never make him get a job to pay for the court costs and fine… it's sickening. I feel very very sorry for his friend and his friend's family;however, his friend knew what he was doing getting into that car with Nick. The friend knew that Nick had been drinking, just as the friend had been. Why does no one pay attention to the fact that there were 3 adults involved in this and Nick is a minor!! Nick should have had supervised probation with very strick guidelines. I don't agree with the jail time. That will not do Nick any good. None.
I'm not trying to be cruel but the fact is that the family of John is mad because their son/brother/boyfriend will never wake up and walk out of that hospital, EVER. They are in for years of hell and getting phone calls saying that he's sick with some infection and they're going to have to decide every time whether or not to just let him go. He will die in a few years when his body gives out his organs do start shutting down. The only reason why he's still alive today is because he was most likely in very good shape with a good strong heart that just hasn't given out yet. I know too much about this as it happened to my cousin… That guy John made a CHOICE to NOT wear his seatbelt. You can sue the Hogans, send Nick to jail, make him do community service and bash him to the media but the bottom line is that it was John's fault for NOT using the seatbelt and NOT getting out of the car when he had the chance. You can't blame that on Nick.

I work with county prisoners every day at an animal shelter, and you guys are making it sound like Nick's going to be moving to "Oz". Sorry, but county jail is nothing like "Oz". He'll be in a jumpsuit, and he might have to mow some grass or shovel dogshit at an animal shelter, but raped and beaten in jail? Hardly.
Nick is going to county jail not prison. He will probably be separated from the other prisoners. This is a tradegy and he is getting his punishment. He should not have drank and drove fast, but I am sure many who post here have done the same thing.
