Not only does Madonna charge upwards of $300 for the best seats on her tour, but now she wants a piece of the ticket scalpers' pie.
Yup!
Ticket scalpers (or "brokers" as they like to be called) buy up the majority of concert tickets, leaving many die hard fans to turn to other venues to buy their tix.
Now, Madonna is going into bed with the enemy!
Her Madgesty is the first artist to make a deal with StubHub, which is owned by eBay and lets people legally scalp (or "resell") their concert tickets.
M will get a base fee PLUS a cut of all the ticket sales.
So, in theory, the higher U pay for your ticket on StubHub, the more money she makes.
Why would Madonna (or anyone) wanna encourage ticket scalping/reselling????

DO NOT BUY TIX FROM STUBHUB!! They will screw you every time. Even though they have their Fan Protection Guarantee that promises you will have your tickets in time for your event I never got my tickets. Up until one hour before the event the people on the phone were still promising me that they were going to e-mail me the tickets. This happened to me twice. (I should have learned the first time.) DON'T DO IT! THEY ARE EVIL!

That IS strange…I understand that ticket prices have had to go up because of gas prices, etc. etc. etc., but…it has been out of control over the past handful of years. I remember when tickets were affordable enough that I was going to one or more shows a week in Chicago and still able to afford drinks and merch and whatever else I wanted…now, it's like, you have to choose one or two good shows a year…

I went to that Confessions Tour and it SUCKED BIG TIME! I was so mad and wanted my money back.
I would much prefer that the artists get a cut of the scalper's money. Smaller, less well-known artists will benefit from this precedent in the long run. For example: Flight of the Conchords tix were $30 at face value, selling for up to $300 through StubHub. If I felt that the Conchords themselves were getting any of that I might have been inclined to purchase the tix. They don't, so I didn't. Madonna may not "need" the money, but this will end up helping out the little guy in the long run.
This old whore isn't getting any money from me. Not only has she not done a good tour since the Girlie Show, but her last 3 tours didn't even have opening acts and this one won't either. Why would I spend that much money to watch an old hag perform for less than 2 hours?
