I also grew up in Norway, but moved the States when I was 17. My dad is from London, so I personally believe that I've been raised with a more critical view on Norway than most of the Norwegian people that make sure that everyone knows what they think about the States.
1. I don't think that Swedish is more beautiful than Norwegian, although I would have to agree with you on some of the accents(f.eks i Bergen & Trondheim).
2. The whole Swedish-people-are-better-looking-than-Norwegians are just bull, because they are very similar to each other.
3. The news media is not run by the Norwegian government, and besides there is a thing called the internet nowadays, where you can do all kinds of things, such as read the New York Times when you feel like it.
4. It's funny, because when my friends from Norway comes to visit me (and my English frinds as well for that matter), they're shocked to find out how Bush and his little goons actually run this country.

It's hilarious how some people can turn a post about a doppelganger into a huge fight about whether Norway sucks or not. I agree some accents in Norway are ugly, like mine. I'm from Bergen. But there's nothing to be done about it, I'm afraid. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, or listener in this case.
I've lived in Norway all my life and really like Norway. We've got a lot of money, good health services (which are free), nice scenery and though Norwegians may seem uptight and cold to others, this is normal to us. Personally I think Norwegians are beautiful people (not blowing my own horn here, I'm everything but tall and blonde), and friends from Texas and Australia always say Norwegians are beautiful. They also say the men and women here take better care of their looks. But we're all individuals, some are beautiful, some are not. As in all countries.
But what pisses me off is that only Kurt and Erlend are mentioned when it comes to Norwegian music. What about Stargate, who writes hits for the biggest stars in America, or Sondre Lerche or Röyksopp? Also there's a lot of good artists and bands that haven't made it to America. Doesn't mean they suck.
Norway is a great place to live, I'm sure America and Italy and wherever is too. But stupidity knows no borders. It's everywhere.

What Kurt and Erlend has together, they dare to be them selves without ANY BUT`s. They do not mind what other people says, because you all, with so much meanings about looks and voice. GO ERLEND, I`m gonna buy your CD. You won this COMPETITION with 36%, and there where 12 people in the final, so go figure. HURRA to every girl and man who give a DAMN about waht people think of them. And to that SPANISH WOMAN/MAN who think norwegian are uptight, look your self in the mirror
