Oscar nominated actor Joaquin Phoenix is coming out with an album.
Yes…it's another actor morphing into a 'musician'.
Why??????
It didn't work for Scarlett Johansson. It didn't work for Minnie Driver or Kevin Bacon or Billy Bob Thornton or Gina Gershon or….the list goes on and on.
Why must you do this to us Joaquin?????
Apparently, Phoenix got the calling after he learned to play the guitar for the Johnny Cash biopic Walk the Line.
Does that mean we can expect to see something from Reese Witherspoon soon?
Phoenix has been working with Britpop star Tim Burgess , the Charlatans frontman.
A release date has not been determined.
For Phoenix's sake, let's hope the album is as good as his acting. But it will probably suck!

Didn't you see him in the Johnny Cash film? He used his own vocals to emulate Johnny Cash, and I thought he did a superb job. He has a great voice, so I'm pretty excited to hear that he is going to be releasing an album.

I thought Minnie Driver has many records and had good reviews. I think she is good. Just because they are actors it doesn't mean they can't sing or won't be successful.

actually The Bacon Brothers have been a very good band since 1995. Kevin Bacon didn't try to be a musicial he is one and a good one at that. Maybe we should check our facts next time.
I love Joaquin Phoenix if I have faith in any actor's musical ability it's his.
Walk the Line is one of my favourite movies of all time.
Atleast we know he can actually sing; unlike the others you mentioned. He did his own singing in Walk the Line. He has a great voice; I think he can be a successful singer and he's hot.

If that isn't enough proof he did all his own versions of Johnny Cash songs in Walk The Line. I'm sure his music will sell just fine!!

His late brother, River, was a musician, so this makes sense. Actually, it would be great if he hooked up with John Frusciante same as River did. If Walk the Line is any inclination, I don't expect Joaquin to suck, given he takes it in the right direction and doesn't do something so out there that no one can handle.
It could be worse! I saw the "Not him too!!" headline and Joaquin's picture and thought you meant that he was becoming a scientology freak! I am relieved that it is just another bad album.
At least Joaquin actually sang in the movie and has a soundtrack CD out of it!
Also, he has been actively involved with music for years. Joaquin has even directed music videos.

Billy Bob Thornton was a musician long before he was an actor. He's on like his 4th album. His new video is great - just saw it last weekend on CMT. I saw him last year in LA and - I gotta say - it was really good. Don't make assumptions that just because someone is an actor, they can't be a good musician. Look at Broadway actors, they sing and act - that's what they're suppose to do. So why would a film actor be any different??
