The numbers are in and Madge's Hard Candy has dropped from its #1 spot debut to #5 in the U.S. album charts in just one week.
Whereas Carey's E=MC2, in its 4th week of release, comes in 4 for the week, despite being out much longer than Hard Candy.
Mimi sold 8,000 more units than Madge this week!
Now, the important part - money talk!
Madonna's first weak sales totaled 280k and week 2 brought in 81k for a two week grand total of 361K.
Yikes!!!
Madonna's drop from week one to week two is 71%!
Mariah Carey's take for week one ALONE of E=MC2 was 463K.
Mimi's first week of sales totally beats Madge's 2 week total by a little over 100K. And she's still selling more than the Queen of Pop.

Now the Lambs can say all they want about Mariahs Marriage to Tevin Campbell, but EVERYONE KNOWS THIS IS A SHAM MARRIAGE…….If only to try & help both of their images (what friends will do for one another)
Once Madonna starts properly promoting her album in the states (fingers Crossed) sales should stablize BUT Once Mariah files for Divorce from Montel Jordan it could go either way for Mariah…….Bigger sales from the press about said Divorce from Sisqo or she could declince because of the sham that was her marriage to Omarion.
But either way, Madonna (as always) wins worldwide because Her album is kicking Mariahs a.ss even with the surprise wedding to Ne-Yo….but then again Mariah is a Local Star.

Madonna haters, please keep in mind that CD downloads via mobile phone are not counted, because of this it is estimated that Madonna sold 200,000 CDs less. Some people were able to download the CD a week earlier. (She made a deal with Verizon in the US, Vodafone in the UK and some other carrier in India.) Remember it is not about numbers to Madonna, but money.

I DID get my facts right…she was knocked off the top of the UK album charts after just ONE WEEK by German techno band Scooter who have not had a top 40 UK single in over FIVE YEARS and who have NEVER had a UK number 1 album and who have done little or no promotion of this album whatsoever.
I wasn't talking about her single….and, tbh, you can top the singles chart on a mere 17,500 sales per week on average so it's not that big a deal really.
As for any of my other comments, they were my personal opinon. I do like Madonna but I don't find her music as inventive or as trend-leading as it once was. I saw her in concert on her last tour and found it very generic having already seen dvds of the couple of tours before it and nowhere near as exciting to watch as, say, The Blonde Ambition Tour which was stunning and exciting.
That's not to say I think Mariah is better than Madonna because she's not….she's been permenantly bland and devoid of anything of interest throughout her entire career.
However, I will conceed that Mariah is extremely popular too….which means that if Mariah outsells Madonna it's not as big a deal as when a reletively unknown German techno group do. That, to me, is a bigger sign of an artist needing to buck up their ideas, go back to the drawing board and do something trend-setting and amazing again.
Give me a break. Madonna is STILL and always will be the Queen of Pop. Even she has said it's not a numbers game and who can sell the most, etc. This discussion should be revisted when Mariah hits 50…if she's still making music at that time. Some one needs to restrain her hands when she sings…bet she won't hit those high notes at that time!

I LOVE that 95% of the comments are in favor of Mariah. She has shifted herself into an R&B/hip-hop format and doesn't rely on overrated reinvention to make people pay attention to her. Ummm….these results are not correct. If you check the current Billboard charts, Hard Candy is number 3, while E=MC2 is number 6. Madonna is still ahead. Also, 4 minutes is still in the top 10 singles chart above Touch My Body.
