A good cause is helping out your own country. Just because people do not see death and poverty in the States, they do not think it exists. I am sick of people praising celebrities when they try to make good PR by supporting these 'noble' causes. While it is sad what goes on in other countries, little to no attention is given to the problems we face at home. Instead of adopting kids from Cambodia or Africa, what about all the orphans here in the United States?
the little trust fund kids are so disillusioned, while living their lives in luxury in LA, to what is going on in the same country they live in. we need to help our own before taking on another disaster in another country! ugh.
Re: me – This is exactly what I mean. People here are starving. I see homeless people all the time in downtown. The same people that have been there for years and nobody helps them. It is sick the amount of money our federal government sends overseas. We have been the world police for way too long.
She has a pretty voice but she pronounced Myanmar wrong!
nicole could have at least learned how to pronounce "myanmar" before recording this, so she'd actually look like she knew what she was talking about and gave a crap about it.

Ok for real: WTF do you know? You are obvioulsy a teen and must still be living with your folks at home or someone in authority is taking care of you, because you can't be on your own supporting yourself and paying your own bills. You have NO damn idea how it is in the real world do you? While I appreciate your effort in trying to persuade people to donate to this cause, you don't know how impossible it is for many to do what you are asking of them. Many of us can barely afford to get by each week, yet you feel it the need to make people feel guilty for not giving because "even if they lost their homes, they at least would be able to take some posessions with them, while the people of Burma won't…" Live a little longer young one, and you'll come to understand the reasonings behind things a lot better. I wish like hell I could give because that is something that I've always done and would like to do, but right now I can't. I just can't!

I completely agree with #37…. you dont see any other country stepping up to help us in our crisis… you don't see hardly any other country helping out in the "war against terrorism". Personally, we're scraping change together trying to get our sons lunch money some weeks. Thanks for that insperational message however while you live in your luxirious homes, eat riduculiously overpriced food and wear the latest fashion, most of middle America is struggling to survive by living paycheck to paycheck. So instead of these Media messages which we all know are done solely due for a TV exposure, etc, why don't you(Mr. and Mrs. Richie) donate a couple million of dollars to the victims or better yet buy a first class ticket and go HELP instead of asking "us" to send a couple of dollars.

Instead of us giving money for education in third world countries, what about our citizens here who are not learning? i know this cyclone is almost as bad as the tsunami, but i'm giving nothing since that country is fucked up, they can't even agree on a name. the area was some kingdoms called something like my-an-mar until britain conquered it and anglicized the name to bur-ma (similar syllables). after independence, they got overthrown in a military coup back in the 1960s that has gotten more totalitarian and psychotic ever since. the government has tried to exterminate several ethnic groups there and have been stopped only by vicious insurgent movements trying to set up their own countries. the people in myanmar / burma / dump are basically slaves or just in the way of the generals and the soldiers that work for them. they even renamed the country, but deny the people there everything unless they work for the army. now disease, starvation, and exposure could kill off as many as a million more people after the hundred thousand that have already passed, but they won't let either the rescuers or the supplies to save them into the country lest the populace be exposed to something other than official propaganda. much of what food and water and money is accepted is going to the soldiers of the regimes and their families while most of the rest is being resold. all those merciless tyrants need to eat a dick, but there's no saving the victims short of an invasion of the country. therefore, my wallet is closed on this one. it's all very sad to me.

Umm okay, so what 'crisis' is it that America has, that no other country in the world has? Yep every country has homelessness, a great percentage of people living below the property line etc. Whay is America so Special? You are allowed to donate to more than one charity you know? How about people donate to a charity to people people closer to home, and then if a Major Crisis hits a country, the rest of the world can do that little bit more? I mean people would think nothing of spending $50 on a night out with their friends, why can't tehy donate 1/5 of that even to people in Burma or elsewhere.

If people can't afford to give to this, or any other Crisis, well thats fair enough, noone is making him. They are just asking, if you can afford to, give a little, and stop making Childish remakrs about why you wont.
And before you start shouting me down for not 'knowing what the real world is like', I'm a student, live in private rented accomdation, pay all my own rent and bills, don't get any financial, or otherwise, help from my parents, and have a part time job i fit around my classes so that i can afford such things.
