The Mike Myers-fronted comedy flick Love Guru may be banned in India.
What'd he do????
Hindu groups in the country have reportedly requested that India's Central Board of Film Certification and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting ban screenings of the picture in India.
About 80% of India's population are Hindu.
In March, U.S.-based Universal Society of Hinduism president Rajan Zed was one of the first to protest the film when he said it "appears to be lampooning Hinduism."
However, an official with India's Central Board of Film Certification says they have yet to receive a formal ban request from any of the country's Hindu groups.

I think comedies are supposed to lampoon, but as far as religion goes theres different ways to go about it. You can be knowledgeable and make a statement that is a funny yet intelligent comedy (think Dogma). Or you can just totally dismiss all real tradition, make fun, and prounce around on sacred places. If theres a commentary im okay with that. But from the looks of previews this film just mocks what they see in india, with out any knowledge behind what it really means in inda. Think about christianity. People use the cross, scenes, and symbols of christianity in movies, but its in a way that challenges peoples understanding. a whole movie based on silly wacky jesus that just makes fun with out any understanding or regard to truth about the religion (whether endorsing or debunking) would never fly.

No offence or anything but I don't believe in pagan religions, everybody has the right to practise freely,…but it's sad that people still follow mythical false religions and "Gods"…I studied religion and I truly believe that there are only 3 true religions sent from God, and those are Judaism, Christianity and Islam…….Hinduism is one of the reasons God sent down prophets to enable people to realize who God really is, can u imagine if Egyptians still believed in sun Gods and Moon Gods, it would be pretty ridiculous, Hinduism is based on the same kind of ideology, it is NOT FROM GOD. Either way I think that no matter what religion u belong too as long as u are a person that does good and has strong morals, God will have mercy for you!

Understand that India has different views on movies and stuff. IF they want to ban it, why are we to critize them. Also, talking about how bad there country is…is just wrong. We have dirty parts of the US…We have parts that are really poor and in bad condition…but the bad thing is that we have all the resources here(like working plumbing) India doesn't. They don't have all the luxuries we have here and still we have some really dirty parts of America. Every country does. I have traveled to England and France. And France was soooo dirty, but i went different parts of France and not all of it was like that. People are sooo open there, having sex on the benches in the park in broad daylight, smoking weed on the streets, having trash on the streets (a lot), but that's okay because that is there country and that's the way they live. Now, I am not saying all of France is like that, that's is just a few things I notice, but it didn't bother me because I have an open mind. France is a beautiful county with beautful buildings and great food. I loved it. See…different country…different people…different beliefs…different religions…different way of life. Please people…open your minds and your hearts…we in america are lucky to live in a "free" country and have all of the luxuries that we do….THIS COUNTRY (AMERICA) WOULD BE MUCH MORE BEAUTIFUL!!!

There are so many derogatory comments about India here but let's just go back and remember how exactly America was doing 61 years after it gained independence (as India is in that position today)…America had slaves, Native American's were being killed and their land taken from them, the Mexican's were being fought for land, oh yea you guys were awesome! If you're going to judge India and it's people you have to remember it's still finding it's feet after over a 100 years of British rule so you can't expect it to be a haven already! But let's continue this debate in 20/30 years when India is a superpower and America has drained all it's resources, a much fairer fight I think!
