My girlfriend and several co-workers were laid off and replaced by illegal or barely legal aliens. When she stopped by the unemployment office, she picked up a flyer about Foodstamps and Cash Aid and it said Illegal aliens are eligible and encouraged to apply and it won't affect your immigration status. Only we can't get welfare or medical until she is unemployed for at least a year. Forget that I work 2 jobs and can't afford medical insurance. I pay about 1,000 dollars to go to the e.r. I am barely scraping by, and work very hard. But let's just let illegals come in w/out a job and 10 kids and get everything they want and need for free. I am so tired of freeloaders. Sure I'll pick vegatables in the fields or mow lawns… but I won't be getting welfare while I do it I don't qualify. What happened to the honest hard working American ( here Legally ) person? I make just enough to get by but pay so much in taxes so illegals will have a better life.. What about me?

Sorry Perez but you jumped the gun on this one. You were too quick to cry foul but you apparently didn't read the whole article. Nowhere in the article does it say that the INS drugs every deportee. It mentions a select few who are considered combative. Most of the deportees interviewed for the article had a history of being violent or inciting riots so these people are not all that innocent. I see these people at the airport when they try to board them onto planes. Some of them actually put up huge fights. Imagine being on a plane when that happens? In a post - 911 world? Scary.
The one thing I did find unacceptable were the types of drugs INS is using. The 3 drugs mentioned in the article are being used together as a "cocktail" with as many as 7 or 8 injections given to a person. Very dangerous and in 83 seperate cases, lethal. If they have to sedate an unruly deportee, there has to be a safer way to do it. Not likely to change,though. Nothing the Government does these days surprises me much.
I totally agree with you on this Perez! I hate our country doing immoral stuff that gives our citizens a bad reputation around the world. I don't approve our government doing quite a lot of things. I wish more foreigners knew that there are plenty of Americans who totally abhor the actions of their goverment leaders and do not agree with their actions of behaviour or opinions. I think they must be in the minority though. If more people felt like I do then I wonder why more people do not say so outright. Large number of people ultimately have the control over what is said or done. If people protest something the government must take notice of it and reform themself.

If the deportee is unruly and has shown behavior that may cause danger to others on the flight, then YES they should be sedated. Illegal immigration is a huge problem and threat for our country. We have rules and means to becoming a citizen and yes, quotas on the amounts we will accept yearly, but this is all for a reason. When you are the BEST country on Earth and afford the best chances of bettering yourself of course people are going to want to come, but not at the cost of opening our borders to any and all who want to come. This would surely would be the beginning of the decline of America. It isn't without sadness for these people who desperately want to better themselves that I write this. I too have a heart, but it also through eyes of a realist that I have to say that our country needs tighter borders and needs to address the issues of illegal immigration and the current so called Sanctuary Cities such as Houston, Texas that are willfully harboring these illegals. I completely agree with you. Obviously, a lot of these people haven't seen the destruction that happens when people come into this country illegally. My husband and I both work, yet we can't afford to go to the doctor for anything that's marginal. Yet, illegals get aid for health care. It's really not fair. There are a lot of immigrants who do want to be here and they do their best to follow the rules, work hard and enjoy the American life. It is those who come and mooch off our government that ruin it for those hard workers.

I don't think it is sick and wrong if the people getting drugged are causing problems or being violent. They should not be allowed to stay if they haven't done it the right way and SHOULD be deported. And if they want to put up a fight in the process of being flown back (for free) then they shouldn't be allowed to hurt anyone or cause damage or harm. I doubt it is for people going with the program and being cooperative.

My girlfriend and several co-workers were laid off and replaced by illegal or barely legal aliens. When she stopped by the unemployment office, she picked up a flyer about Foodstamps and Cash Aid and it said Illegal aliens are eligible and encouraged to apply and it won't affect your immigration status. Only we can't get welfare or medical until she is unemployed for at least a year. Forget that I work 2 jobs and can't afford medical insurance. I pay about 1,000 dollars to go to the e.r. I am barely scraping by, and work very hard. But let's just let illegals come in w/out a job and 10 kids and get everything they want and need for free. I am so tired of freeloaders. Sure I'll pick vegatables in the fields or mow lawns… but I won't be getting welfare while I do it I don't qualify. What happened to the honest hard working American ( here Legally ) person? Sorry Perez but you jumped the gun on this one. You were too quick to cry foul but you apparently didn't read the whole article. Nowhere in the article does it say that the INS drugs every deportee. It mentions a select few who are considered combative. Most of the deportees interviewed for the article had a history of being violent or inciting riots so these people are not all that innocent. I see these people at the airport when they try to board them onto planes. Some of them actually put up huge fights. Imagine being on a plane when that happens? In a post - 911 world? Scary.
The one thing I did find unacceptable were the types of drugs INS is using. The 3 drugs mentioned in the article are being used together as a "cocktail" with as many as 7 or 8 injections given to a person. Very dangerous and in 83 seperate cases, lethal. If they have to sedate an unruly deportee, there has to be a safer way to do it. Not likely to change,though. Nothing the Government does these days surprises me much.

I wish more foreigners knew that there are plenty of Americans who totally abhor the actions of their goverment leaders and do not agree with their actions of behaviour or opinions. The US government is so fucked up. For those who are interested in the matter, I highly suggest reading "Queer Migrations" edited by Lionel Cantu. It's based more on gays and queers seeking asylum, but it gives you an idea how bad Krome and other detention centers are.
If the deportee is unruly and has shown behavior that may cause danger to others on the flight, then YES they should be sedated. Illegal immigration is a huge problem and threat for our country. We have rules and means to becoming a citizen and yes, quotas on the amounts we will accept yearly, but this is all for a reason. When you are the BEST country on Earth and afford the best chances of bettering yourself of course people are going to want to come, but not at the cost of opening our borders to any and all who want to come. This would surely would be the beginning of the decline of America. It isn't without sadness for these people who desperately want to better themselves that I write this. I too have a heart, but it also through eyes of a realist that I have to say that our country needs tighter borders and needs to address the issues of illegal immigration and the current so called Sanctuary Cities such as Houston, Texas that are willfully harboring these illegals. When does it stop? Perhaps when our National Parks have to be bulldozed down to put up extra low income housing because work is harder to come by for the average American and the cities and rural areas are full of every person who ever dreamed of living the Great American Dream? My husband and I both work, yet we can't afford to go to the doctor for anything that's marginal. Yet, illegals get aid for health care. It's really not fair. Maybe you should read the book. This country was founded by immigrants, who came here to escape their homelands. Those "immigrants" also wrote the documents that banded them together as a single country, therefore they became a nationality all their own. It's also been over 200 years since they formed this country. Their blood, sweat and tears gave us the right to call ourselves americans. We have lots of rights. And everyone takes advantage of them. But everyone conveniently forgets about their responsibilities they have as citizens. These do include upholding our laws. As in, if someone is breaking the law (hint…illegal immigrants); we have the responsibilty as citizens to uphold the law (is-get them to get naturalized, or get them out of here).
All these illegal immigrants come here claiming to want to escape some sort of heinous problems. Most of the time all they want is better money and better living conditions. They come here and fuck it up for the rest of us. Because of them our healthcare system is in the toilet, crime rates are up, the welfare system is so abused that it's back must hurt from being bent over. And they seem to think that they can come here, demand things to be their way, and we have to take it because "our country was founded by immigrants". No, we don't actually have to listen to one word they say. They are not citizens of this country. They do not pay taxes, nor abide by the laws. And before you say "I know xx amount of people that are law-abiding illegal immigrants"; think, because THEY ALREADY BROKE RULE NUMBER 1! Become a citizen!!!!!!

I don't think it is sick and wrong if the people getting drugged are causing problems or being violent. They should not be allowed to stay if they haven't done it the right way and SHOULD be deported. And if they want to put up a fight in the process of being flown back (for free) then they shouldn't be allowed to hurt anyone or cause damage or harm. I doubt it is for people going with the program and being cooperative.
