Secondly, you know very well the Miami exile community has been working hard to lobby their pro-embargo, etc interests ever since Castro came into power. I live in Florida, and I am aware of the impact the Cuban Americans are having, and please let me tell you, it is definitely not positive. I'm a high school teacher, I see these kids everyday, gangs, fighting, drugs……sometimes the truth hurts.

I do not like his approach in generalizing Cuban people. As a Floridian I know that the reason it remains a red state is because of the high Cuban population. I do not understand why a community that mainly lives in the poorest metropolis in the United States would continue to vote Republican, it is like shooting themselves in the foot. It continues to take away programs that poor folks could benefit from as well as a better healthcare system.

Well, why do so many Cubans become Republicans? Answer me that. There is something behind this trend. I find it a total turn off - like they're all lemmings who can't make up their own minds. And you know as a person of Latin descent I have to say the nature of Hispanics has been a mostly self-serving one. This is a group who only protests or gets involved when it affects their direct interests. I rarely if ever see another Latin person at any of the environmental charities or political meetings I go to. Yet they're the first to cry foul and whine about their "rights" if they feel slighted. They want all the benefits without doing any work. Funny though, you see a lot of white people working on behalf of others be it civil or social progress, but very few Asians or Hispanics. So there it is - unless something personally serves them (immigration) they don't give a shit about putting forth an ounce of effort. That's not quite the American way, is it? The good news is this seems to be slowly changing. A younger generation is starting to move beyond this limited way of thinking and actually getting out there starting to do something to make a difference. I used to visit South Beach, but I found the Cubans are too mean and CRAZY. They are sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo materialistic, and for some reason their version of the "truth" is very hazy. Also they are REALLY racist, and I am mixed white and black.
