I wouldn't expect you to understand that we are granting gay people rights we don't have by allowing them to marry people of their own sex. They already have the right to get married, to someone of the opposite sex. What next, we grant the right for people to marry animals? Yes, a bad example, but if you didn't understand my original point, now you do. So yes, I hope you feel better calling me a homophobe. I know many gay people who also feel the same way I do. I don't consider gayness a sin, just a deviant sexual desire based on lust that can disquise itself as love. Have any kind of sex as long as it is with a willing partner….just don't call it love and don't consider your marriage on the same par as a marriage between a man and a woman.

There are plenty of straight couples, in my opinion, that shouldn't be married. Why bar two people who really love each other from really solidifying that with a piece of paper and a religious ceremony? There will be an initiative for a Constitutional Ammendment on the California balot, and nothing like gay marriage will stir up the base of the Republicans like this issue. If you ask me, Carl Rove orchastrated this as it is a perfect storm coming. McCann has a problem with the Republican Conservative, but this cause will draw them to the polls and guess what, when they punch the Presidential ballot, they will not be voting for the Democrat.
As a Conservative Republican, I don't think we could have asked for anything better than this for our chances in November.

The wages of sin is death but no were does it say in the Bible that when you die you are acquitted of your sins. Jesus was sent to acquit (forgive) us of our sins. He died to pay the price for our sins. We have to accept him as God's Son to receive the gift of salvation. Not accepting Christ is denying Him and that leads to death in sin and eternity in Hell. Hell is mentioned in the Bible many times.God is a loving God. He is a just God and that is why he has set rules for us to live by. Sinning won't get you Hell. Denying Christ will. It seems that you are picking out parts of the Bible and leaving out parts. We can't do that.
Re: Lauren - I will explain to you the reasons so many Christians are against gay marriage. First of all, it goes against the basic beliefs of Christianity. God is very clear throughout the Bible that homosexuality is wrong and although we are not to hate anyone because we are all sinners, we are not to be accepting of the sin itself. Secondly, the gay activists don't just want to be married and left alone. They want to be accepted as normal by everyone. This is not a normal or right lifestyle to a Christian and therefore true Christians can never accept it as ok. What about tolerance for Christian beliefs? Christians should not be forced to accept something that goes against their beliefs and have it forced on their children as an alternative lifestyle. Didn't the CA supreme court just legislate morality under the guises of tolerance and equality? After all, this is still a society of free thinking, isn't it? Gay people want to change the thinking of all Americans to fit their lifestyle - again, are we not free to practice our Christian beliefs? Let me reiterate, a true Christian will not hate the person involved in the sin, and should never hate anyone. But a true Christian believes the Bible and cannot accept sinful behavior that goes against what the Lord says.

This country does belong to ALL citizens, including the CA voters who legally placed an initiative on the ballot to ban gay marriage, voted overwhelmingly in support of the initiative, were upheld by several lower courts and whose votes were just disenfranchised by the CA supreme court. Re: Respect & tolerance! – I very much appreciate respect and tolerance and truly believe in treating everyone with respect. I don't judge people and really enjoy engaging in intelligent debate with those who disagree with me. But since we are talking about respect and tolerance, let me give you a scenario (a very real scenario for many Christian parents). A Christian parent sends their child to a public school where the child is taught tolerance for the gay lifestyle. The child comes home and asks their parents about this. If the parents tell the child that they believe the gay lifestyle is wrong, not only will the child but also the parents be labeled as homophobic, haters, Christian zealots, etc and be ridiculed and bullied. If the parents do not tell the child they believe the gay lifestyle is wrong, they go against everything that is their heartfelt belief and against the God that they love and worship. So, in respect to tolerance (no pun intended), can you still say that Christians are not harmed by this in any way? Can you really say that gay activists are tolerant and respectful of Christian beliefs and the right of Christians to hold on to those beliefs? Yes, Christians still have the right to practice their beliefs, but as you can see from some of the responses posted here, Christians are being labeled and ridiculed for their beliefs and are being accused of hating, which as I said before, really goes against what true Christians believe in.

So, what you are basically saying is that people of different beliefs than the Christian ones should throw away their own beliefs, wants, needs, way of life, so the Christians can be protected of dealing with people who have different point of views. So the gay kid that goes to that same school as the Christian kid, has to suffer and not hear that he or she is equal (in all rights), so the Christian kid does not have to learn that there are different belief systems outthere and has to learn to deal with that. Again an easier and more fair solution (than telling the gay kid indirectly that he is not equal to others) would be that the parents of the Christian kid inform their child that even though they believe in a certain way, their truth, others feel differently and they need to be respected and seen as equals (in every way). That religion is an individual personal choice and should not be forced upon others.
Again the fact is that in this country people of many beliefs have to learn how to live together. We all have to accept the differences. We all have to deal with other peoples opinions and convictions. Being offended by other peoples behaviour is not something only Christians have to deal with. We all have to deal with that. Part of living together with millions of other people in a country that tries to resemble a democracy.

I would not write here what I truly think of all of the pro-gay, pro-porn, pro-profanity, pro-everything goes attitudes that appear on this site. I'm sure that God would be much more "just" than I. I try to live my life by his standards, not mine. Everyone will stand before God someday. I hope to do so having lived as closely as I could have to God's will for my life. You all are on your own. You can't say that no one cared enough to tell you the truth. You will have no excuse. I won't have any excuses either but the difference is that I am saved, you are not. I didn't just make it up. You obviously have a Bible close at hand. Satan can quote the Bible word for word and have it mean nothing. Even Satan believes there is a God. You do not impress me. I don't impress you. That isn't the point. The point is to take God at his word and to speak the truth to others. Not the truth as YOU see it but the truth as God has laid it out for us. Re: Mary K – We all can be forgiven if we accept Christ as our savior. The only sin that is not forgiven and the only sin that will cost you your salvation is to deny God. When we accept Christ our life should show that by the changes that take place. We still sin though because we are human. God does love everyone he doesn't like everything that we do though. Christians struggle with the things of this world. Life is hard. I don't want to come off as a "hater" of gays. I'm not. I do hate at times but not gays. Enough said. People that don't believe will deal with that when God decides that they will.
