Aw I cried too! I'm straight and with a wonderful man, and I think it's wonderful that they've found love.
Love is Love, and it is horrible that people judge it. Tolerance itself is even a negative word; it means that there is something wrong that has to be put up with.
ACCEPTANCE. People who discriminate against others will never truly be happy themselves, and I feel sorry for them. Maybe it's not their fault, maybe it is the way they were raised. But I hope that the cycle stops. There will always be conflict, but why should there be conflict over something beautiful, that makes two people smile at eachother the way Ellen and Portia do?
I hope that the people who see something wrong with this can eventually overcome their anger. Hate is a four letter word.

I'm so happy for Ellen & Portia they are awesome! I'm not gay, but I have definitely always agreed with making gay marriages legal! It's not about what sex you are, it really is about love! What a wonderful start of the change that our future is going to bring!!!!!!

Re: Katie009 – Actually, you are a bit off in your facts. Marriage is a civil institution that provides rights and benefits to the particular couple based on state law. You can certainly get married in a church or a mosque if you choose but your marriage license is issued by the state - without that legal document, your religious marriage in your church is worthless.
So, let's truly call it what it is, a civil institution, and leave religion out of it.

I'm really happy for Ellen and Portia, but since when is three and a half years considered a "long-term" relationship? I recall that when Ellen's daytime show premiered, she was still living with Alexandra what's-her-name. Anyway, thank God that same-sex marriage wasn't legal back when she had the long-term relationship with that nut Anne Heche. Sure saved Ellen a bundle of cheddar. Oh, right…just wondering, does anyone know what has become of Ellen and Portia's little white French Bulldog, " Pig" ? She never mentions the little pooch anymore. Hope it's still alive and well.

Portia is SO pretty. Ever since Ally McBeal I thought she was one of the prettiest women in show business and she's so girly too!
