This is in response to the question "how many of you actuly fallow christ's teachings?"
Well I have read the bible and if I fallowed it to the letter I would be going to hell. I think pretty much everyone would be. There are so many things that we are "not" to do that everyone does on a daily basis. I stubed my toe yesterday and said God dammit.
I didn't get on my knees and pray for forgiveness so I guess I am going to hell for taking the lords name in vain.
I try to live my life and treat others how I would like to be treated.
I don't judge anyone because I don't have the right to.
Everyone has made mistakes in their lives and in no way is it my business to say that they are bad people.
I am not gay/lesbian but I don't hate others who are. They are people too and deserve the same respect I would give to anyone.
I don't think God is a vengefull as some on here think he is. I just feel that the people on here spouting hate and wishing harm on others are in a worse off place than a loving couple like Ellen and Portia who have done nothing but good things in their lives.

I have a lot of gay friends but I think that only MEN & WOMEN should get married….That was how it was meant to be and that's how it will always be. Two men will NEVER be able to have kids or Two women will NEVER be able to have kids. Call it a union or a ceremony or whatever….but PLEASE do not call it marriage….

ok, I'm all for love but come on…you guys already took the rainbow away from us. The rainbow was a promise from God as a new beginning…Marriage was meant for a man and a woman…call it a civil union…not Marriage! Our country was founded under God…last I saw oral sex is illegal in California? I know we all do it and it is not really something that is prosecuted but are they making it legal now?

To the haters - chill yourself - no need to be so negative. Why are you so scared of gay people? It's really the only reason I can come up with as to why the negative comments and trying to keep gay people away from your "traditions" concerning marriage.
Interestingly, another "tradition" that will soon be stolen from straight people is that of divorce; which is currently by about 50% of the married population

CONGRATULATIONS! May ANY couple (or even group) that wishes to bond together be allowed to do so legally and otherwise (as long as it's voluntary and they are adults). This potential change in Cali is WAY OVERDUE and needs to be legalized in every state.
I don't care to even begin a dialogue with anyone who thinks otherwise, for the following reasons:
There is no way to prove that every single male/female couple that are/have been married are/were faithful or otherwise morally "superior" to anyone else. Think of all those serial divorces and trophy wives, for example.
Since there are many situations where a "man" or a "woman" simply CAN'T have children (sterile/infertile/hermaphrodite/past childbearing age/severely disabled physically or mentally/physically deformed or damaged/mutilated/emotionally immature/severely addicted/can't find a partner/etc.) then you can't argue that having children is some kind of reason to support male/female marriage.
Many gay couples adopt kids!!! Adoption is an amazing act of generosity and should be encouraged. Our planet is incredibly overpopulated - see what's happening with our resources dwindling and all the ensuing wars we're falling into. ("We" meaning people in general, not just Americans.)
Allowing a couple in love to celebrate their commitment is THEIR BUSINESS! How in the world does NOT allowing them improve anyone's life? Are you so threatened by someone's happiness? Would you like someone to decide who you can marry and/or cut you off from what makes you happy, such as love? That's so f-ing obnoxious - to lord over others with your BS narrowminded religous blather. If you want to preach love, go for it. As soon as you start judging, condemning, and vilifying someone else, if there were such a thing as Hell, you should just zip right down.
Discrimination - in any form - is wrong. It's at the root of most of our conflicts. Try to open your mind up and just focus on yourself and your own shortcomings. If you dislike someone for a reason they can't help (and believe me, if you think being gay is a choice, then what you're really saying is that it's an urge you have to repress - not true, is it?) it's probably because you feel inadequate and insecure yourself.
Many marriages are sexless anyway, based on mutual financial needs, for example, or cultural arrangement. Since you are not in anyone's bedroom, you can't argue that being married precludes some specific type of sexual behavior. And again, that is NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS!!! Some married couples engage in behavior that would burn your retinas, and some have open marriages anyway. The whole enterprise/institution started because of LAND OWNERSHIP, for chrissake. Get over this idea that it's some kind of club - it should just be a legal bond that acknowledges a couple and allows them to make legal and financial decisions on behalf of the other. There is no celestial aspect to it that's any different that the commitment people make to each other when they are in love. It's just a frickin document.

I am so very HAPPY for Ellen and Portia. It is a big step and in my opinion I don't think that the gay community takes it lightly it is a privilege and I don't understand why so many are against same sex marriage when so many heterosexual marriages end in divorce at the first sing of trouble.
Why people have to make comments just to say how disgusted they are is beyond me. It's a celebrity website created by a gay man who is obviously in favor of gay marriage. If you think "fags" are disgusting, I recommend you find another website to find your celebrity dirt. Have you tried the 700 club? I hear they're really big on heterosexual relations, but you may have to stick to missionary. Not that you'd have a problem with that.

I have a 3 year old daughter and I hope she gets plenty of experience seeing all sorts of couples in her life. Same sex, opposite gender, different color of skin, anything that makes people happy.
Alternative lifestyles are becoming the new normal and if you're going to fight them after they've been happening behind closed doors for so many generations, JUST BECAUSE they're on TV now, it's ignorant.
I am a straight white female (happily married to a man, thanks much) but if my daughter ever chose to be with another girl or a different race, I'd still support her and love her no matter what because if she found love, who am I to tell her she's wrong?
Who are you to tell anyone else their lifestyle is wrong. For your sake and for your kid's sake, I hope your opinions change. Because if your kid were to decide to go gay, I have a feeling right now you'd disown them.
