alcoholism and drug addiction are a disease. Alcoholism tore my family apart. I started drinking at age 6 with my father and by the time I was 18, I was a full blown alcoholic. I progressed to prescription drug use (the REAL speed/diet pills back in the '70's) and for five years continued this insanity, including a DWI. Got in A.A. in 1975 and after a brief relapse in the beginning, where I also lost my license to drive, I will celebrate my 32nd year of sobriety this November 4. Sometimes people have to lose a lot more in order to get sober. Give this poor woman another chance. She's going to need all the support she can get. Alcoholism and drug addiction are NOT fun. It takes faith, looking at one's self and a drastic change of behavior and inner work. Imagine doing this with all the available booze and drugs in Hollywood and while the whole world is watching. There are lots of great A.A. meetings in Malibu and elsewhere down in sunny Cali. My best wishes Lindsey. I pray for your recovery in Alcoholics Anonymous. Work the steps. Surrender. You have to put recovery FIRST above all else. You can make it! We believe in you.
