Wilde for Ben
Narnia's Price Caspian, English actor Ben Barnes, just landed a new gig.
He's been cast to play Oscar Wilde's iconic character Dorian Gray in a new adaptation of the author's novel, The Picture of Dorian Gray.
Good for hottie Barnes…going from kiddie fare to a serious lit role.
We saw Prince Caspian this past weekend and we loved it, even if Ben's accent was a bit wonky in it. (Was he trying to sound Latino???)
He's pretty to look at, and we don't mind seeing more of this bb on screen!

HATERS, don't hate him because he is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HATERS, don't hate him because he is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
wow…those are some gorgeous teeth!
he is the perfect actor to portray Dorian Gray! has stage experiance, neither too old or too young, he has the looks and especially the charisma to play such an intriguing role! FINALLY what Hollywood was missing! not some stuck up spoiled media boy! a real actor blooming!
i read this book last year for school and thought it would have been utter crap; but it was actually really good !
let's see them butcher another good book.
Re: geez –
But you do not speak about the subject either! You blame me for something that you also make! Too stupid!
the prince caspian character is suppose to be meditteranean… thats the accent he was trying to do i guess. but c'mon! william moseley (peter pevencie) is wayyyyy hotter.
He's my love. Sexy!
Goodness! C.S. Lewis IS serious lit! This makes me want to hit you with my degree in comparative literature.
In the book The Picture of Dorian Gray, the character Dorian Gray is supossed to be so angelic looking as to drive the artist mad. I just don't think Ben Barnes has the right look. But they can do amazing things with technology now-a-days.
Ben Barnes explaing the accent on comingsoon.net:
"Barnes: Yeah, exactly. Well, we started off sort of looking at different Spanish accents, because that was kind of the original concept, and then we found that we had a lot of Italian actors and French actors, Mexican actors, so we have this whole kind of mix. Obviously, the books are very British, so we wanted a lot of the intonation to feel English, so it was very understandable, it wasn't too thick. What we've ended up with is what we kind of called a Telmarine accent, and we kind of got everyone working from a similar page, but it's a sort of Mediterranean. It's a Mediterranean loosely based on the Spanish accent, but with a lot more of the English intonation. Obviously, these are foreign characters. They're speaking in their own language and it's being automatically translated for you, because otherwise all the scenes between each other would be in Telmarine, and they'd need subtitles. That's why I think the language is kind of as free and easy as it is."
1) All I have to say is "Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die."
2) Watching Chronicles of Narnia (1 or 2) is pretty much like watching a low-budget Lord of the Rings. And did anyone notice how that bear was always upfront and center at all the events (swordfight, leaving of Narnia, etc.) All he did was stand around. Why did he get on the VIP list to everything?
He is so awesomely perfect for this part!!! they better not fuck up the story it's one of my favorites.
So excited. I loved the book to,"The Picture of Dorian Gray." I think he would fit perfectly and also Stuart Townsend(he was dorian on the League od Extraordinary Gentlemen)
OMG!!!
perezitoooo!
Ben es adorable!!!!!!!
El acento en la película se debe a que le quisieron dar un acento español (como para darle un acento de los "telmarinos") y tomó clases para ello.
I LOVE HIM!!!!!!
