Thank you for being intelligent and compassionate enough to post this. Type 1 diabetes is a daily struggle for everyone who has it and those around them. It is mentally and physically exhausting and only exacerbates even trivial health issues such as a common cold. I have yet to see any major media outlet acknowledge these issues and it is very depressing for someone who is a 16 year survivor of this illness. Especially since all attention goes to Type 2 diabetes which you can cure.

hey perez…it was nice of you to post this and everything, but there is no cure for us. there never will be and once all type ones realize that it will be so much easier to accept. I have had it since I was 4 and there is no way the drug companies are going to let a cure become public knowledge, Do you know how much money they make off our sick sorry asses? Even if a cure is found, we will never hear about it. they probably already found one. not trying to be a bitch, just keeping in real.

Thanks Perez and readers. My 13 year old daughter was diagnosed 1 year ago today, got her insulin pump just last week. The pump has changed her life and given us hope that her future does not have to include kidney failure, loss of limb or sight. The work is not done yet though, research research research…..The JDRF is a fantastic organization that does outstanding work and has branches down here in Australia too. This is an international disease, crossing all divides, it does not discriminate but it does dominate those affected. for the diabetic, the disease becomes everything before you find the will to only allow it to be part of what you do.
Please don't stop till we find a cure
Thank-you for posting info about juvenile diabetes and jdrf…It is a very worth while cause. My daughter is 13 and has had it since she was 8 and if this helps people become more aware of this disease please keep posting stuff about it. My daughter almost dies a few years ago from complications from it and more people need to be aware that this disease attacks everyone and anyone not just fat people or old people but anyone a nd can be very deadly.. Thank-you for helping to bring awarness ur site reaches many and any awareness is a step in the right direction towards help for a cure…Thanks

Thanks P for posting a blog about j1!!!!!!!!! My fabulous niece has type 1 and she is 11. And to anyone reading this with t1 please eat a lot of fiber, fruits, beans, dark green veggies, high pulp orange juice. Also bolus your insulin accordingly, test when you are supposed to and develop an exercise routine, drink water regularly and have extra supplies on hand at all times..love, aunt 2/2.
Thank you for bringing type 1 diabetes attention to your website. I wish more sites would do the same. My son is 14, was diagnosed at age 12. I pray everyday there will be a cure in his lifetime but we need everyone to give money to support the research. I come to your site when I need a laugh and some cheering up but diabetes is a serious matter and nothing to laugh about. Thank you again and keep up the good work.

I've been waiting for you to post something like this. I need the cure, not just the treatment. Type 1 sucks, and having it sucks even worse, especially when you're 15 like me and nick, and still are trying to get through life.

i have been suffering from this bitch of a disease since i was 8 and i would like at some point to live without it!!!! thankyou so much…. coz so many people know about type 2 …. no offfence but type 2 is nothing compared to this…. type 2 people have done it to themselves… us type 1ers had no say!!!!!!

i agree with the people below…. so many people think there is just type 2 diabetes and not a different type that isnt brought on from unhealthy life style. im a type 1 and im sick of people asking me why i have diabetes if im not fat, so thanks perez for the awareness!!
