How Do We Say This Delicately???

Filed under: Politik > Barack Obama > Hillary Clinton

wenn-hill-barack__opt.jpg

We think it's time for Hillary to drop out of the race.

Yeah, we said it.

The Democratic party has to rally around the candidate the people have chose, and, by now, it's pretty clear who that candidate is.

Agreed. The democratic candidate needs time to focus on the general election. McCain kinda has a leg up. Give it up Hil, you lost babe. GO OBAMA!

I cannot believe that you are saying this! I will never come back to this website!
You have fallen in line just like republicans fall in line behind their a@#hole (McCain)!
Though it is probably not going to go her way, there is no way that anyone should tell her to step down. This does nothing to soften up her supporters for Obama! I hate all of this "we must unite for the better of the party" nonsense. That because we have supported Hillary Clinton and she may lose the nomination we should just shut up and fall in line, like republicans, even though we do not connect, relate to, trust or even like Obama. I cannot vote for this person. If Hillary is not on the ticket, I will sit this one out because there is no way I will vote for McCain!
sign the petition for a joint Obama/Clinton ticket in November!!

    211

true.. but i don't think he will win over McCain. Lots of people are afraid of change even if we need it.

  12. Amber says – reply to this

    212

No, the American people have not spoken. Why don't you take a look at the poles. The American people have spoken to the tune of 51% Obama, 49% Clinton. That does not seem like a landslide victory to me. With this many Clinton supporters have already stated that they will not vote for Obama. We don't need a candidate who can win by a mere 2% in a primary election we need a candidate who can win in a presidential election. That person is Hillary Clinton. Barack Obama will never win against McCain. This is too important of an election for her to back down now.

  13. Linda says – reply to this

    213

I can see it now North (Obama) vs. South (John McCain)… Why in the hell does history keep repeating over and over?! The people supporting Obama will be the Left wing branch and the people supporting McCain will be the racist right wing with some defacto liberals thrown into the mix.

Oh, great Just what America need a revisit of the civial war!

  14. FINALLY!!!! says – reply to this

    214

Dang Perez.. it's taken you long enough! Don't know why you ever switched to her in the first place- but welcome back!

  15. Monstra says – reply to this

    215

Um, guys? Remember 2000? The election? Al Gore had declared victory before EVERY SINGLE LAST VOTE was counted, and look how that went. The woman is seeing this through TO THE END. Calling for her to step down EARLY just because you don't want her? What kind of fucked up mysoginistic command is that?

  17. pathetic says – reply to this

    217

you people voting for Obama are just plain pathetic!!!!!!!!!! he will never win aganist McCain. Hillary can. If Obama wins the nom, just remember Whites will just jump ship to McCain. Some of you people really must be completely brainless. He has no experience but you want to elect him President? give me a fucking break. im sure when Obama gets demolished in November all the blacks will cry foul and riot like the fucking idiots they seem to be.

    220

Thank you for finally saying something helpful towards the party. It's time to bring all the democrats together and stomp McCain and the 3rd BUSH TERM!!

Please do all you can to help. We cannot afford to allow the Republicans to continue destroying our beautiful country.

  21. Josh says – reply to this

    221

Hillary is leading in the popular vote. Yes, the people HAVE chosen a candidate and it's Hillary Clinton - she's the one that we should be rallying around.

  22. Bridgette says – reply to this

    222

I say she should stay in it until the party nomination is officially declared. Never surrender! Besides, do you know anyone that won't vote for Obama because they supported Hillary and since she's out now they will vote for McCain? I think not.

  27. Michelle says – reply to this

    227

    NEVER!!!!!!
If she doesn't get the nomination then I think she go independent. All of her supporters will go with her. And she will get more republican votes fron McCain then Obama would. Hillary will never and should never ever give up. She is our only hope for this country. I am a life longer democrate and I do a lot of work for my party locally (Philly) but I will NEVER NEVER vote for OBAMA. I'll vote Green party first. Alot of my friends feel the same way so thats why I think she should go independent. You should to becauase Obama doesn't even like gay people

  28. Meg says – reply to this

    228

Not that I don't agree with you Perez, but to be honest your opinion means nothing to me as far as politics go. First you endorsed Obama and then you turned around and endorsed Hilary who is the biggest thundercunt i have ever seen in my entire life. If you cant make up your mind as to who you would rather have as a candidate how can you expect people to take you seriously when it comes to politics?

  29. stefystef says – reply to this

    229

Thank you Perez for all your support of Hillary, the BETTER candidate, but she is staying until June 3rd. Honestly, she was The One, not the false prophet being shoved down our throat.

    Hillary Rules!!!!

  30. **** says – reply to this

    230

You're right, dropping out would be the mature sensible thing to do. I just hope that the American people can put aside their personal preferences and go for the PARTY they want. I mean we all know Bush couldn't possibly have made any political decisions, cos he's thick as shit. PLEASE Americans, for the sake of us in the rest of the world, choose the party which is (slightly) less elitist, money grabbing, human rights abusing and self important.

In orther words, whatever you do, DON'T vote mccain

    :D

  31. Deb says – reply to this

    231

Thank God she is done. Just what the American people needed….a President who's husband is getting his knob polished in the Oval Office AGAIN!!!! Any woman who would stand for being humiliated WORLD WIDE and do nothing…and stay with the piece of crap doesn't have the gonads to run this country.

  32. carol says – reply to this

    232

This "older-white-white trash-"uneducated"-female" is keeping her ass home this election. The champagne crowd can elect the next president. The Democrats have become elitist, and too many insults have been lobbied against the average middle class voter. They don't want my vote and they aren't getting it.

  33. swissffun says – reply to this

    233

why? to make room for an a'hole upstart with zero relevant experience and a major ego to go on to lose the General Election? to make room for someone with an insignificant lead in the nomination process? this isn't f'ing horse-racing where by a nose counts. the BEST candidate should be selected, thus the Super Delegate component to break a virtual tie in favour of the candidate with the greatest chance of a November victory - and that sure as hell isn't the Messiah.

  34. Bekah says – reply to this

    234

Best thing you've said about this election in months Perez!!! RIGHT ON!

  35. JiggaWha says – reply to this

    235

Who caught the sexism in last nights Obama speech? Stating that Hillary was paving the way for his daughters and your daugheters.

What a sexist foolish thing to say! AND CNN didn't even mention it! Is it safe to say they are paid off now? Or perhaps paid off by the Republicans who know Hillary is a bigger threat and they want her OUT so McCain can win? What if Hillary took the mic and said 'I want to thank Barack Obama for paving the way… for my little black baby neighbors and your little black babies. What an admirable thing for someone of his kind to run in this race.'

  36. Jodi says – reply to this

    236

Nope. All of the delegates and superdelegates haven't been counted. Them's the rules. Anyway, Hillary is much more qualified, plus she's A BETTER SPEAKER!

  37. Lmmhp says – reply to this

    237

Hillary is the only one with a shot at the white house ~ she is my choice.

The country is in such a mess we need someone with experience, both domestic and foreign. Obama couldn't even get elected to The House of Representatives in 2000 ~ he's been a Senator 3 1/2 years. He just doesn't have the experience to get us out of the hole we're in. At least with Hillary we'll also get Bill ~ our economy was the best it had been in years during his tenure.

If the DNC decides on 5/31 not to include Florida and Michigan, I will have to make the decision between McCain & sitting at home.

  38. JiggaWha (2) says – reply to this

    238

Barack is an amateur. He was only 5 years old when Hillary was shaking hands with senators, governors, leading minority groups (even african americans) through coalition movements, she met Martin Luther…and she was there when he was shot. She was a young republican but quickly saw the importance of what it was to be a democrat - for the people.
She is a true servant to her patriotism; her country; her people. Her life is dedicated to this stuff - dedicated to us. So let's see..what has Barack done? Oh, he is Senator of Illinois were one of the richest people in America decided to donate a lot of money to his campaign to push him through.. but what has he done? What has he accomplished? Who the hell is he? So, his first full year as a senator and he spent each day on the campaign trail… What has he done as a senator on the road each day?
This is all a big sexism joke when you get right down to it. Delegates (a very SMALL minority of Americans) would rather put an unqualified male in office than a female who is more qualified than the most recent presidents in office (including her husband). But the joke will be on Barack - Hillary knows the system like the back of her hand and she knows what is best for the country. She isn't going anywhere anytime soon. As she said last night, may the best candidate win 'whoever she may be' (an obvious stab back at Edwards 'best man' speech from last week).

  42. LaLa says – reply to this

    242

While I think it's great that people are excited about Obama - I think they need to realize that this primary isn't really about Obama vs Clinton. It is to choose the best person to go up against McCain. Hillary won by 35% in Kentucky last night. Obama is going to have a very hard time pulling in votes in places like Kentucky, Ohio, PA and will have a much harder time against McCain than Clinton would.

  43. Power to the People says – reply to this

    243

Perez, did you bump your head last night? Are you sick? This race has unfortunately turned into a popularity contest. Let's get real, Obama has no clue what he is getting himself into. The GOP are going to chew him up and spit him out. Florida and Michigan will be seated May 31st. Then the amount needed to win the nomination will go to 2209, the "Superdelegates" will have to pick Hilllary if they want a chance of getting into the White House. Perez, you should have held your toungue on this one.

Our debt is already overwhelming us…..WE have too many lazy asses out there living off of me!!! Why should we continue to support welfare recipients who have gotten so good at abusing the system, they "make" more money than me, they eat better than me, and they live in better *subsidized* housing than me! Time to take responsibiltiy for the crappy life that you have "hard" earned for yourself.

  47. Hillary alllllllll the way says – reply to this

    247

well I just voted in our Primary yesterday and happy to say my state made it loud and clear we still think Hillary is the right person for the job!!!! and well will be voting McCain if thats what it comes down too. I would rather vote for an AMERICAN HERO rather than an egotistical anti-american hypocrite!! I will never understand why people do such stupid things.

  50. WHy?? says – reply to this

    250

This is the saddest day in my life. Obama isnt ready. Most of his votes are the sympathy votes from white do-gooders and stupid college kids thinking he is ready. I have been a democrat my entire voting life and will not vote for a man just because he is a democrat and just because he is black…he is NOT READY to lead this country. Sux that McCain will have my vote:(

  51. Holding on to the truth says – reply to this

    251

I think that since Hilary is such a strong woman, she will wait this out til Obama gets his last 100 delegates. She is gonna stick this out til the end. Which she should do because that just proves(if it hasn't been proven already) that she should be our next president. If she can stick it out this long and still give hope, doesn't that show you that she can bring hope back into this country? I believe in her. She once stated "it took a Clinton to clean up after the first Bush and it's gonna take another Clinton to clean up after this one" and I truely believe that. The only reason people are voting for Obama is because they hear the word "change" , but it seems that word is thrown around loosely these days. What scares me is that all the Muslims over in our enemy countries are EXCITED for Obama to win. They are EXCITED. Why?? Because he is one of them. He spent a good part of his life over in those places…those places that HATE AMERICA. The people who HATE AMERICA and HATE US AMERICANS…WANT OBAMA TO WIN. If that doesn't scare you…I don't know what will.

    TEAM HILARY ALL THE WAY!

  52. Jary says – reply to this

    252

Although I do not like either candidates, Can the Obama supporters give me one thing or instance, of something that Obama has done to be qualified/experienced to be President of the US. I have not heard of one thing he has done for the American people to make him qualified to be the US President. So I really don't know which way I will be voting in Nov. I am independent by the way, I like to keep my options open….

    255

Hahaha.. I'm loving this democratic race of yours. How fucked up can a election process be. Since 2000 your elections have been a great laugh to the rest of the world. Don't you get that the process is influenced by the fact that every single state elects on different days. So people get influenced when one or the other is the underdog..just watch American Idol and you'll see how that works. One day all states elect and you wouldn't have this big election lasting a life time with NO candidate at the end of it which costs millions of dollars (what is that all about.. the one with money can go the longest ..there is American democracy for ya).

  56. onemomwhosnuts says – reply to this

    256

Great run Hil! Would love a dream team. She would have made it against anyone else but Obama- Obama has republicans on his side too even though he is a true liberal. Not too many people on the planet as charismatic as he is- Good run Hilary!! I think she would have beat W over Kerry in the last election.

  58. not gonna happen says – reply to this

    258

Shes not dropping out why should she?? If idiots would stop voting for Obama, then Hillary could beat Mccain but because porch monkeys and dumbass teens want "change" (ya I can talk alot of fucking bukllshit too) which is what hes doing, your pretty much screwing up all our chances to win in Nov because theres no way in hell he will win in November so just give it up already.

  62. tim says – reply to this

    262

Disagree - she can't drop out 2 weeks before the end because she's campaigned on a promise to "never stop working for Americans." Obama only gained momentum because of our ridiculous primary system. If TX, OH, PA, WV, KY had voted after Super Tuesday, Obama would've been dead in the water and Hillary would've become the nominee long ago. Media spin palyed far to large a role in this election. Obama is a huge liability for the Democratic party and will be eaten alive by Republicans. His voting record is far too liberal and spotty at best (voting "present" instead of "yes" or "no" on key issues like abortion). Democrats have doomed themselves yet again.

  63. haley says – reply to this

    263

you are ridiculous. you HAVE to count michigan and florida votes and if you do that, you're right, the people have chose… and they choose her. she is leading in the popular vote. fuck the delegates. how can i trust a delegate count that allows someone to win more delegates in one state even though they lost that caucus… i.e. nevada???? it's absurd. he WILL lose the GE.

This is the wind-up for something bigger, something desperately needed. Many eyes are watching. Many hearts are involved. This will not be wasted. I promise. The people who voted for Hillary this week have a voice and they are using it and it has never meant so much.

Ok Hilary love her and would have voted for her if she won. It's important that Obama now who has leads in all fashion go ahead and accept the nomination. The Dems are taking a chance of losing the office again because McCain is working hard while the Dems are stuck in confusion.
Hilary it's time and honorable to concede.

I love Hillary and I will not vote for Obama. He will not be a strong president that we need right now. I believe that Obama has the following he does because he is fresh so he has alot of younger followers that do not know anything about politics and where our country is headed if something isn't done. I will not be voting this year if she is not on the ticket.

Actually I think Hillary should run as an independent if she doesn't get the nomination. Fuck the DNC. Obama is not qualified. He is arrogant, and every time he debated Clinton, she wiped the floor with him. The media has treated Clinton with a pathological hatred.
I have not heard one intelligent reason for all of these super delegates to to support him. "He inspired me" "He wrote good books", "There's just something about him." This is insane! Look at how he's loosing these big states! Say hello to President McCain.

I can't believe you wrote that. Sad :( its not over till its over and it not hurting anyone. It not like he is winning by a landslide he is sweaking ahead. If you are in a footabll game and the the other team is whening 20 to nothing do you play the fourth quater or just walk of the field? its insane that the media is acting like its gone far enough. This is the election progress and everyone should always have there vote in a primary counted usually there i just one really clear winner early but not this year. and its a great thing. Amen for living in America

I completely agree. It doesn't matter if you wanted Hillary, we need to rally behind the winning candidate so that the Republicans will be out of the White House!

OK BOYS AND GIRLS….ITS "HAVE CHOSEN…NOT HAVE CHOSE" AND ACTUALLY SEN. CLINTON IS AHEAD IN THE POPULAR VOTE. THE SUPER-DELEGATES ARE WHERE BHO IS GETTING HIS LEAD FROM. OVER 17 MILLION PEOPLE HAVE VOTED FOR SENATORS CLINTON AND OBAMA IN THE MOST HEATED, CLOSELY CONTESTED PRIMARY SEASON IN MODERN HISTORY. THIS IS IN FACT GOOD FOR THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY AND THE DEMOCRATIC PROCESS. PLEASE REFER TO "HILLARY" AS SENATOR CLINTON….SHES EARNED HER TITLE. I AM NOT A SUPPORTER OF EITHER CANDIDATE, BUT THIS IS GOOD FOR THE PROCESS AND THE COUNTRY. MORE PEOPLE TURNING OUT FOR THE PRIMARIES EQUALS MORE TURNOUT FOR THE GENERAL IN NOVEMBER. SEN. OBAMA DOESN'T HAVE THE EXPERIENCE NEEDED TO BE POTUS, NEITHER DOES SEN. CLINTON. BUT HEY THIS IS AMERICA AND WE WILL LET ANYONE GET ANY JOB NO MATTER IF YOU HAVE THE SKILLSET NEEDED OR NOT…RIGHT MARIO???

Perez, Not that it matters to you because we have never met, but, you just climbed up my respectability scale several degrees. I know you were a huge supporter of Hillary, but she clearly isn't the one chosen by the people. Her continuing to hang on is frankly, a little embarrassing at this point. I hope she'll consider how important it is for her to try to unify the party and not simply have to be the winner.

    Go OBAMA!!!!

I'm amazed at all the comments I see stating that Hillary is honest and Obama isn't. The Clinton's life has been nothing but lies, manipulation and cover up. Do you really want someone as slimy as ole' Bill (with Hill's support) running the country for four years? And the comments about Obama's lack of experience? Look at what Bush's "experience" has done for us over the last eight years. I would rather vote for someone that has the drive and determination to make things better then someone with experience that's only looking out for their best interests. Our political system is a complete mess and it needs to be overhauled now. Hill's just not the one that can do this.
