How Do We Say This Delicately???

Filed under: Politik > Barack Obama > Hillary Clinton

wenn-hill-barack__opt.jpg

We think it's time for Hillary to drop out of the race.

Yeah, we said it.

The Democratic party has to rally around the candidate the people have chose, and, by now, it's pretty clear who that candidate is.

I'm from outside the US and really don't understand why it should be called a democracy as 800 people eventually have the weighing vote. It is an insult to all the voters who have been devoted enough to let their voices hear. i think the public opinion in our country (netherlands) is, that Obama is the preferred candidate, just because we are tired of just 2 families ruling for 2 decades….

I JUST DONT UNDERSTAND ANYMORE. THEY TELL US THE PEOPLE TO VOTE BUT WHY VOTE OUR VOTES DONT SEEM TO COUNT THE WAY I SEE IT.
IF YOUR NOT A SUPER DELGATE OR WHATEVER THAN YOU VOTE DOESNT COUNT BUT IF YOU ARE THAN ITS COUNTS. I JUST DONT UNDERSTAND THIS SHIT HILLARY WON SOME OF THE BIGGEST STATES AND SHE IS STILL LOSING NA THAT IS JUST WRONG. BUT LIKE I SAID OUR VOTES DONT COUNT BECAUSE IF THEY DID SHE WOULD BE AHEAD AND WINNING. IT JUST PISSES ME OFF THAT EVERYTHING IS A BIG LIE THE GOVERMENT PUTS WHO THEY WANT NOT US THE PEOPLE SO Y VOTE. IF WE DONT HAVE ANY SAY SO. T_T

I stopped reading the blog after you endorsed Hillary. I thought you had lost your mind. At the time I was visiting your blog 2x a day. I came back after Mariah was married.. Yes, I wanted to see pics.

I am glad that you were finally able to see the light. Sen. Obama has always been the better candidate.

The "PEOPLE" have chosen, or the "PRESS" have chosen?

  9. Holly says – reply to this

    309

    OK, those of you who are actually pulling for McCain;

Have you been living in the same United States I have been living in the last 8 YEARS? Because I have seen the hurt, hardship, and struggle most of the American people have had to endure. I truly don't think the vast majority of Americans can survive another 4 years under someone like Bush. I truly feel that we as Americans have not suffered this bad since the great depression.

I live in NC (I am originally from San Diego, CA) and I work in human resources for a major retail chain. I don't think I have ever felt so much pain for my fellow associates who can't even afford to drive to work because they have to choose between providing food for their family and putting gas into their car. I have people in my company who are pawning their possessions in an attempt to put $15 worth of gas into their car, in hopes that it will help them survive until payday.

Now, before you go and say that maybe we should pay them more, 70% of these people are making at least $9 an hour, and the other 30% are making $12 or more an hour. That is very good pay for retail, and even better pay the area in NC that I now call home. But the cold hard truth is that with the prices going up on groceries, gas, And credit card companies and banks raises interest rates, that money does not go very far. WE NEED HOPE, WE NEED CHANGE, WE NEED OBAMA!!!!

    311

Thank you Perez! Now we have to start converting the die-hard Hillary people over to Obama land otherwise we end up with Methuselah as president.

Hillary fought the good fight & for Democrats, its not even close to its end. We need to have a SRO Convention that blows the roof off.

Our wonderful country is in bad shape right now and needs fixing badly. The old policies are no longer working and what once created balance now creates discord.

We are on the brink of greatness again, but we must win in November.

  17. Lisa says – reply to this

    317

Bullshit! God, Perez, I expect more from you. If you're going to make a statement like that I would expect you to back it up with a rationale beyond 'it's pretty clear who that candidate is". Why is it clear? Because the news media is feeding you anti-Hillary propaganda?

  18. Usingmybrain says – reply to this

    322

Oh my god I was just wondering yesterday, when you were going to acknowledge this fact. She had a good run, she unneccessarily played it dirty. She needs to move on and supporters like you Perez need to get behind Obama. Who in earnest would make a good pres and is what the country needs right now.

Four more years of a Bush clone or even worse if McCain dies and Huckabee steps up as president (if he does become the veep canidate) would be hell on earth!

  23. jenny says – reply to this

    323

i disagree. the people have not chosen obama. only half of the people chose obama. how are we supposed to rally around a candidate that we don't like? in fact, only 1/3 of democrats who voted for hillary are going to vote for obama if he gets the nomination. what about the other 2/3?

    328

The true victor cannot be chosen without the votes from Michigan and Florida in the voting process. Also, I think the voting process should really reflect what "the people" want. As it stands, they pick up a certain number of delegates from each state and tally them, and I think it doesn't reflect the popular vote. It is not time for Hillary to drop out.

  29. Sabrina says – reply to this

God help all white people if this moran and his idiot wife gets in. If you're white you're in trouble thank god Hillary is staying in to save this nation. A vote for Obama is a vote for white slavery. Wake up when Hilter came to power people said that could never happen well it did. Learn from history because it's here.

She should go all the way, she's broke all kinds of records, and she or he could be VP!!!!!! The party will reunite! The dream ticket is still a possibility!

  35. FlatTop says – reply to this

    335

Although I am firmly behind Obama, I can understand why one would prefer Hillary to him. But it boggles my mind how ANYONE would want John McCain as the next president given the shit hole that we are now in. It's fairly obvious he is right in line with Dubya. Come on people, do the right thing. We have to work with what we've got and that is Obama. He can do it. He is favored by God.

  36. madanp says – reply to this

    336

PLEASE…get real, there are only two friggin weeks left, all the primaries are over by June 3rd..why would she drop out now? Let the people vote..really what is the big ass deal? Hillary gets it, she's a smart woman, just let process finish.

  37. emma says – reply to this

    337

all I can say is, anyone who says they support Hillary Clinton and means it would not make the decision to vote for McCain in November. Clinton and Obama's issues run nearly hand in hand (making sense since they are both Dems..) whereas McCain is truly scary conservative and would love for you to think otherwise.

seriously, you're completely retarded and a terrible decision maker if you would switch PARTIES rather than vote for the candidate who wasn't your top choice. I fully support Hillary and want her to stay in the race but there's no way in hell I would ever vote for John McCain over Barack Obama, regardless of how I feel about Obama (which is fairly negatively, though only because he's fighting Hillary, really).

anyone who thinks Obama would be a scary president is just hiding his or her head in the sand if they think McCain would be anything other than an extension of the last 8 years. so, if you vote for McCain instead of Obama and he wins, you can thank yourself when you can't afford gas, healthcare, and groceries in two years.

Barack Hussein Obama would make the worst president. Lets not forget how RADICAL LEFT he is, yet alone a muslim. He values his mom's opinion and she is a red communist. His record show his as being the most liberal senator 2 years in a row. Besides all this, he never passed a bill worth anything, has no experience, and only got into being a Senator by default. Do the reseach, Google him….google his unpatriotic actions. He does not cover his heart during the national anthem and only recently started wearing the american flag lapel. ITS ALL A SHOW ! Dont be dumb American…research this guy !

McCain is not that great either, but he is patriotic, fair, experienced and has reached across the aisle plenty of time. He is not my choice….but he is the lesser of all evils !

If Oprah would not have vested so much money, tv, and hype into Obama (which she obviously did just because he is black - really..have you ever heard her say 'why' he is such a good candidate besides 'she likes him??totally her perogative though but after watching Africa crumble due to her changing their lives so drastically in such a competitive way..i guess she never watched the gods must be crazy), he wouldn't be in the race now. If you look at the tax records for senators Clinton and Obama, you will see that they are very very much in a different tax bracket.

  66. Holly says – reply to this

    366

Another thing, those who are so pig-headed and selfish who support Hillary, and say that if Obama gets the spot on the ticket for the Dem. nominee they will not vote…well that truly worries me.

So instead of voting for the other democratic nominee, you will screw everyone in the Unites States and vote for a Republican Arse Hole Bush Jr. because you want to whine and cry because who you were rooting for did not get the democratic spot on the ballet? Yes, let’s put a man into office that was a POW in Vietnam and made over THIRTY anti-American propaganda videos, totally disregarding the oath he took when he entered the service. That has to be the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard in my life.

By all means let’s throw a man in there who has admitted on camera that he does not agree with the majority of Americans on their POV's. By all means, lets put a man in the White House who says if we need to be at war with Iraq for 100 years, so be it. By all means let’s put a man in the White House who is a warmonger, and wants to screw with Iran (not a wise idea).

By all means let’s keep a man out of office that could unite us as ONE PEOPLE. Let's keep a man out of office because he is biracial (mother was white, father was black). Oh and by all means lets keep a man out of office because people are idiots and do not educate themselves on the candidates and ASSUME he is Muslim, so they will not vote for him. My GOD! OK youngsters, I don't know about you, but in the 90's everyone I knew was making money! It was a great time! A lot of things were accomplished. I'm am soooo sick of hearing about racism, the only racism I've heard of is the Black united negro college fund, the Miss black beauty pagent, if whites pulled that shit we would of been crucified. I'm sick of paying for bullshit that happened years ago, before I was born. okay people the only way she wins the popular vote is does not count the caucus states which you CANNOT do. And if you do complete discount those 4 states she is only ahead by 26,000 not millions. GOD YOU PEOPLE ARE STUPID

If all states with popular vote totals are counted — which would exclude four caucus states that have not released numbers — Mrs. Clinton would lead Mr. Obama by more than 26,000 votes out of more than 33 million cast. By other calculations, Mr. Obama is ahead in the popular vote.

  73. LeoNise says – reply to this

    373

Who cares who the Dem candidate is? Your entire party is in such disarray and broken right in half. Either one will lose to McCain in November, and if you want to talk about her huge numbers in certain Red States, you have voters like myself who were a part of Operation Chaos; republican voters who switched to vote for Hilary to keep her in the race but will switch back and vote McCain in November.

Better luck in 2012 silly liberals!

I agree 1000%. I cannot stand to look at her face. She should save herself from the humiliation. In fact, everyone besides Obama should drop out.

Based on the comments here, many of Perez's readers are not rely on talking points and the MSM for their political information. This race was over after Super Tuesday and definitely after Penn and NC, Clinton had no chance.

If you are a true democrat who will vote for McCain over Obama, I'd suggest you check McCain voting record and positions on the war, the economy, tax cuts for the wealthy, lack of support for the GI Bill, lobbyist interest, Keating 5, criminalization of a woman's right to choose and understanding of diplomacy and foreighn policy.

If you still vote for him against your own self-interest, don't complain 4 years later when we are still in Iraq, our military is completely crippled, gas is $10/gallon and we still have a president that will not/cannot tell the truth!

Come on P.Nasty. You really should kept your political opinions to yourself, especially if you cant even be bothering to write using correct English.

Stop with the propaganda! Hilllary has not won anybody's popular vote. That is fuzzy math and we've had enough of that the past 8 years.

McCain will when in November if Billary doesn't drop out. She is dividing the party. She's just trying to show how strong she is and how long she can stay in the race. She is wasting everyones time…it's over, please leave.

I love you for keeping it real Perez. Thank you. Obama is the man!

Neither of the candidates have won. Now it is on to the convention where a next round of voting will occur. She could still win, and that is a fact. She has not lost yet because Obama has not obtained the required number of delegates. What really gets me is the reverse discrimination that is going on with 97% of black voters voting for Obama. Clearly race is an issue and not thier resume.

I agree. I am a die-hard Hillary supporter but if we want a real chance of electing a Democratic President this year she should leave the race before the entire Democratic party disintegrates. She has fought a good fight and I know she'll be back, at which time I'll support her again. Obama is a very viable candidate and I'll be happy to vote for him.

NO way should Hilary drop out. I think the party should rally around a canidate, but it SO should NOt be Obama. We need a Clinton, we need her for president. Not someone who just barely started this game. We don't need someone who doesn't have a clue about anything except how to spell change.

More people DID vote for Sen. Clinton that Sen. Obama. He's an inexperience fraud. Let the strongest candidate move to the general–Sen. Clinton 2008–don't give up so quickly PEREZ

Re: stevie b – This is about sexism, not racism folks. If Obama gets the nomination, I, a lifelong Democrat and Hillary supporter, will vote for McCain in November. You can get another 4 years of R ignorance for yours!

    395

Perez, you are full of shit. There's only a few weeks left, what harm is there in allowing the process to continue until Puerto Rico has it's Primary?!? Hillary has millions of supporters. There is no reason for her to drop out until at least June 3rd. Obama hasn't called for it. The DNC hasn't called for it. According to polls, the public thinks she should continue. So why the fuck are you posting this shit, other than to get on the good side of the Obamaniacs?

Oh, and Ted Kennedy took his nomination fight all the way to the convention in 1980 and he was over 700 delegates behind Carter! Worse, he was challenging a sitting Democratic President!!! Yet, no one said he was trying to destroy the party! Hillary is only behind by 200!!!

  96. Go Hillary!! says – reply to this

    396

If she can't run as a Democrat, she should run Independent! Obama will be the next Jimmy Carter. Nice guy = Bad Decisions.

  97. HAHA says – reply to this

    397

HAHAHAHAHAHAH, McCain for President? Really? The country was better with good ol' Bill in office…I don't want Hillary, the bitch fights dirty. McCain is FAR too old to be President. And worse, he's Republican. Come on, Republicans have been digging our country into debt and SHIT that we don't need to get into. When Bush first started in office, gas was $1.84/gallon. What's it now Republicans? Can you lend me money to pay for $75 worth of gas every week if McCain gets in there? Thanks.

CAN YOU SMELL WHAT THE BARACK IS COOKIN?

Quit bouncing around Perez… I love you and all, but shut up, you clearly do not know how to deal with politics. If you were a true Hillary supporter, you'd be demanding that Florida and Michigan be counted… then she'd actually be AHEAD of Obama! You'd also point out that she has come so far, it's not like she's SO BEHIND you're questioning why she didn't drop out months ago. The fact is, she is STILL winning big, so why should she drop out? There is absolutely no reason. Next time you decide to 'support' someone, don't half ass it.

  100. K says – reply to this

People are asking her to give up just because she is a woman. Do you think for one minute people would ask Obama to give up if he were in her position? Come on Perez…you know better than that! We'll stand behind Obama after the DNC if he's the chosen candidate!
