Randy must have major bucks riding on David A. Randy goes way over the top with his gushing remarks about David A's singing, although talented, I wouldn't call it 'the bomb' 'you crushed the first round' 'you can sing the phone book' Yawn …again! Come on Randy, it's showing it's all about the money. Cook is talented in music all around, David A. still has a lot of growing up to do.
David Cook should win, but that other "thing" will win.
It's obvious who was better last night….and that was David Cook by a mile. It's clearly obvious as well who the judges would prefer to win..David Archuleta because to them he is more marketable he's young and they can mold him into whatever they hell they want. David Cook would put up more of a fight with them. It was pretty disgusting how they kept praising Archuleta though. The kid is a decent singer but he's not that great.
Even though I love David Cook and think he is amazing and should win I hope that he doesn't only because he will have the freedom to do what he wants and make a better record than having to be under the hold of Idol for a year. Most runner ups from the show do better than the actual winner…except Kelly Clarkston and Carrie Underwood obviously..but you get my point.
Archuleta had a better night… Cook will have a better career.

I didn't watch it, and if I'm any indication of why their ratings are dropping, its because FOX is just stupid/greedy. AI is slated to run from 1 minute past the hour until 1 minute past the hour, rather than right on the hour. This causes TIVO to bump whatever other season pass I have immediately following, leaving FOX on until we come home and change the channel. Once we realized it, we stopped watching Idol. We aren't home when it comes on, and the "1 minute after" thing made us miss better shows one time too many.
i prefer david. c to david a because for each song cook sang differently while as archuleta sang in his comfort zone. No variety in his voice, we dont need any more singers like him, i'd prefer a rocker to win this year than a baby who will prolly be dropped faster than taylor hicks

It's clear now that they should rename this show American Cheese. It's over-processed, fake, tasteless, boring, and wrapped with cheap plastic. I really don't understand Archuleta's appeal. The judges keep saying this is a singing contest, yet a big part of the contest to is groom a contestant to be a commercial performing artist. I would never in a million years buy a David Archuleta CD or song. He's fine if this is an audition to tour with Miley Cyrus or some kind of Disney production. And the judges are still old and stale. If they're not going to replace Randy and Paula, perhaps they should consider choosing a judge from the "public" to be a guest judge throughout next season.
Archuleta is winning. Cook was boring as hell and I was tired of seeing him with that damn guitar. Archuleta brings a genuine sincererity when he sings. I can see him being fantastic in ten years. Go Archuleta!!!!

The fix is in. The judges swooned all over the less talented Archuleta and panned David Cook.
While David A was really solid… Cook showed diversity! The judges were too hard on him… and I have a theory as to why… they can easily mold the Archuletta… Cook can do his own thing. Archuletta would be just as boring as the other winner (minus Kelly).
I think Cook should win. I know that Archie will probably win it all…but they will both have a sucessful career win or not.

David Cook may have underperformed last night, but he is far and above the best contestant. David A. has a lovely voice, no doubt, but he is just a singer AND i think under all that fake earnestness lies a smug, self-satisfied teenager (whos freaky stage parents have nutured his ego since he was probably 5 years old) I feellike he is about to find out that although he will probably be the american idol, the entertainment world is vicious and dog eat dog. and not everyone is like mommy & daddy.

I don't understand it…we're supposed to vote based on the performances. There are so many biased comments here…clearly Cook's performances were subpar and Archuletta's were more consistent and epic. America loves Rockers but not tweens or mothers who love Archuletta's style of singing. Archuletta dominated the competition last night !!! Archuletta is the NEW 2008 IDOL !!

David Cook hands down. I cannot stand Archuleta. No matter what happens, Cook will make it big and Archuleta will be a one-album-wonder. David A will get all the little girl and old lady votes….He'll probably win just because the judges tried to push him last night (which is totally absurd).

Does it matter ? I LOVE david cook but i really don't want to see him winning American Idol. Even if he loses, he's gonna go tour around with the 'Top 10' throughout the summer and by the time his contract with the AI producers is up, various record labels will be scrambling to sign him. David Cook has a bright future and I don't think he'd want a "American Idol Winner!" tag haunting him … ESPECIALLY for a rock artist.
They are both good artists but I think David Cook has a lot more to offer … his personality is much more noticeable than David Archuleta's bashfulness. I admit that David Archuleta has some appeal to him but i honestly do not think that it will last long.

David Cook. David A doesn't even know what he's singing about. He's a prodigy but he's not AI . He's not wel rounded and not an intruiging performer. It's like watching a smurf sing all these Heavy songs. He needs to mature.
It seemed to me the judges had made up their minds before the performances. David Cook's song choices could have been better, but he did a great job. Far more personality than little dud david. Archie could come on stage and burp and the judges would cum all over themselves like they were last night. Idol was so boring I cannot imagine I will have much interest in the next cycle.

I went in thinking that Cook was going to blow Archuletta out of the water but that little boy KNOCKED EVERY SONG OUT OF THE FREAKIN' PARK last night!
David Archuletta sang "imagine" because he's done it a million times before. He sang that on Star Search for heaven's sake. And as for that Elton John tune, it was ok, but anyone who has heard Clay Aiken's version knows it wasn't all that. What bugs me about this kid is the way he has been pimped from day one to win this whole thing which really stinks of rigging. He got ridiculous amounts of praise all along for mediocre performances and he has forgotten the words several times just like Brooke White which the judges ignored. David Cook on the other hand has been fantastic week after week rearranging songs and showing originality and most importantly stage presence. Ask yourself, would you rather attend a David Cook 2 hour concert or an Archuletta one? I think the answer is obvious. Archuleta is boring and the fact that he is a "plant" irks me big time. It's no coincidence that George Michael is the celebrity guest tonight when Archuletta sang the song he made famous. I notice U2 isn't making an appearance…hmmmm.

D.A. is a one trick pony. A sappy ballad singer who will not amount to anything. D.C. will outsell most (if not all) previous A.I. contestants when he's out in the real world. D.C. obviously did what HE wanted to do last night so as not the get the win, and to avoid being under the Clive Davis umbrella after the show. Kudos to him for being the smarter contestant!
Taylor Hicks won by a landslide in season 5. He was dropped from his record label. Daughtry and Elliott Yamin showed artistry and they both had hit records and are doing very well. The American public doesn't vote right. You should vote for the person who shows artistry and originality because in the end the winner has to sell a CD. I cannot imagine Archuleta selling to anyone but the Disney crowd. Adults are not going to buy his sugar coated pop nonsense. Syesha is more marketable than Archuleta, at least she has a personality.

David Archuleta is totally lacking in self confidence, he doesn't have any originality and he's too squeeky clean to appeal to anyone older than 18. David Cook has the maturity, musicianship and intelligence to take over the charts. It's clear he will be a MAJOR star regardless of tonight's outcome. It would be good for the show's credibility to him to win though. Most idol winners fail after the show is over because they don't have the talent to write their own songs or produce their own CD's so they have to rely on old farts like Clive Davis to do it for them. Clive doesn't exactly have his finger on the pulse of what America wants to hear. As far as I am concerned Elliott Yamin, Kelly Clarkson, and David Cook are the only real talents Idol has produced.
I love Archuleta, but I he's got a bright future ahead of him. He doesn't need Idol, David Cook needs it more. Hope Cook wins.

David A. is annoying and really can not sing. Just like how the American people voted in Ruben, they all loved his singing, yet no one bought any of his albums, nor did they support him in concerts; needless to say, Ruben was eventually dropped from his record label and no one has heard from him since.

My prediction is that Archuleta will win by the tiniest of margins, will put out a subpar CD that will sell enough for a gold record thanks to Radio Station Payola and tons of publicity from the idol machine then he will quickly start to lose steam, his father will go apeshit and drive him to a nervous breakdown. Then he'll come out of the closet and start doing drugs. God help this poor kid. Cook will put out a great CD that will go platinum thanks to great songs he wrote/produced himself and will go on to win a grammy.

I think David Cook was auditioning for his own career…to his fans. I don't think he wants to be the American Idol and be held to that ridiculous contract that makes you do things you don't want to do. Like Daughtry, he will have a great career that suits him. Auchelleta is the perfect Idol. They'll pack the arenas with little girls and that will make the AI team lots of money, which is what this is all about, really.

David A. is the most boring person I have ever heard. I could literally FALL ASLEEP when the little boy sings. David C. is by far THE MOST TALENTED contestnat to ever be on idol. The judges clearly were trying to get people to side with DA last night. Even if DA wins he will not be more sucessful than DC. Hello remember Ruben and Clay? Clay is way more sucessful. Chris Daughtry DID'NT EVEN WIN and he had the best selling album of last year!!! DC has so much diversity hae can sing anything and make it up to date sounding. I LOVED IT last night when DC said why would he sing something he has already sang. Then here comes DA singing "imagine" for the THIRD FREAKING TIME!!!!! He took no risk no chances and he is sooooo boring. I also loved DC choice for the 2nd song. Considering that he did not have much to choose from I thought "Dream Big" went with the idol theme perfectly and could see it as a huge summer fun song!! Then here comes DA with- SHOCKER- a BALLAD because that is all he can sing. Watching him sing that CHris Brown song was so painful. His terrible dancing and trying to be cool did not work for me. i just don't get what the big deal is w/archuleta?!??!? having a great voice does not mean you are a great performer. plus, he makes the most annoying faces, closes his eyes throughout most of his songs, and has chosen some of the season's most BORING. SONGS. EVER. and that look of shock everytime someone gives him a compliment??? come the eff on!!! overall, i DO NOT see this kid transitioning into the mainstream. i see him recording some josh grobin-esque album, not a standard pop/rock album. DAVID COOK is the real deal! Win or not, he will go on to make some great music…I can't wait to get my hands on his 1st CD!! Oh and can I also just say that now more than ever I believe that show is rigged…DC has received constant praise throughout the season, but last night the judges were making it a point to snub him at every turn - seems to me the producers instructed them to give all their praise to that boring-as-hell archuleta. I wonder - how do they plan to market "boring-as-hell" if archuleta wins???

Cook did not perform as well as Archuleta last night hoping that he would get less votes tonight, he does not want to be locked down in a contract with the executives from AI, why would he when he can walk out the door after the show and be offered a contract for ten times more.
But for the record David Cook was much better last night and the judges need to get off David A's balls!!!

Maybe the judges wanted to help David Cook by giving him negative remarks? They know the power they hold over the callers (especially Simon) and it seems weird that they would change their minds at the end especially after Simon has been going on shows and saying David Cook should win.
