This Is F'ed Up!

wsucks.jpg

Yet ANOTHER sign that our economy is in the crapper!

American Airlines announced on Wednesday that they'll start charging $15 for the first checked bag, cut domestic flights and lay off workers as it grapples with record-high fuel prices.

SUCKS that more people are going to lose work!

And, it SUCKS that we have to pay to check baggage in. Just gives us that much more incentive to only take carry-on, but now everyone's gonna start doing that too!

The passenger cabin will be even more sucky on American than it already is.

EVERYONE will probably max out the 2 carry-on policy. Oh, and bet u can't wait to deal with overworked, under-resourced airline staff.

Awesome!

Last month, American announced it would join other carriers in charging $25 for second bags checked for some passengers, but it wasn't immediately clear how Wednesday's announcement would affect that, according to the source.

Thanks for everything, George Bush.

What an intelligent comment to make Perez (sense the sarcasm?) I am sure it's easier to lay 100% of the blame on our President than to realize the other thousand factors that influence gas prices and everything else involved in this problem. Idiot…..

You are an idiot. President Bush has NOTHING to do with the economy shake up. Learn a little more about politics and economics, please.

ALSO I want to say people who use ethanol or think it's a great idea are making the prices of food go up and therefore starving the poor. People are stupid especially Al Gore.

Hey Perez- why don't you take some of that money from your new clothing line (hahahaha) and take a few government classes. Oh, and with all these paid endorsements and whatever you fly around for- I'm sure you have enough extra dough to pay for your freakin luggage.

Come on Perez. You can't be that ignorant to actually preach to these people that the economy's status is the President's fault?!? Grow up, gather up some brain cells, and get your selfish head out of the ground.

  7. Perez is retarded says – reply to this

    107

you know nothing about politics, nor the economy. Yeah George bush supposedly single handedly screwed everything up. hmm well lets see, before the democraps were voted in and got a majority in 2006 things were GREAT but since then, everything has gone downhill… unemployment is up, economy is worse (just like economists predicted it would with a Democratic majority!!), housing issues, etc… yet you stupid libtards blame Bush… try looking at the real problem, the Democrap Congress!!

  8. whateva says – reply to this

    108

Why is this Bush's fault??? Why not try putting your anger toward the company that created the fee…. Hmmmm. That would make sence - so nevermind.

    109

Yeah, it's the President's job to fix the economy. Idiot. That must be in the Constitution somewhere, I missed it. Gas is controlled by the free market, should you only be able to profit off of thing people don't need? Keep gov out of our market and economy.

okay, bush is not the smartest and not the best president but to blame him for all this is stupid. If a democrat gets in office in Nov, we shall see how they magically turn everything around. I bet if Bush was pro gay marriage and rights you would love him.

Why dont you educate yourself before you write misinforming information on your site!! These dumb shits writing comments cant educate themselves, they just follow whats on Perezhilton.com instead of real news……and you write ignorant things. GW has nothing to do with high oil prices, if your hilarys and obamas would let us drill for our own oil the prices wouldnt be so high….it all democrats!!!! Why dont you worry about where your taxes are going, like welfare….you'd rather pay out the ass for lazy government suckers instead of higher gas prices??? THe economy started going in the shitter during clintons term…..thanks bill!

  15. Luther says – reply to this

    115

If the Liberals would allow us to drill in Alaska we wouldn't be paying $4.00 a gallon for gas. It's as simple as that. This fleeting economy is not the President's fault. You are an imbecil for even sayin that it is. Get your effed up facts straight, big guy.

Oil is 133 a barrel. The airlines, arguably the worst run industry in the world, are simply passing the cost to the consumer. Point the finger at the left. why? refusing to let a bill pass to drill in our own country or build refineries. they killed a bill this week that would have allowed shale oil drilling in the northwest. Nice work.

  20. Stacey Rene says – reply to this

Bush is a fucking moron and a liar. Obama '08. Please people, do not vote for George Bush's 3rd term! aka Jon McCain

  21. Ethan says – reply to this

    121

George Bush himself blamed the President for fuel prices. Back when he was running for president in 2000, he blamed Clinton for not doing anything about the high price of oil. Then, it was $28 per barrel. Now, it's $124 per barrel. But, of course, it's not Bush's fault. It has nothing to do with him blowing up the middle east and sending a once high-oil-producing nation into civil war. Yeah, it's not Bush's fault at all. I can't believe how stupid some of you are.

  22. akgroom says – reply to this

President has that much power that they decide on EVERY STINKING THING THAT AFFECTS EVERY STINKING PERSON IN THIS COUNTRY?!! Please, folks….get a grip! There's a whole lot more that affects this economy than the influence of one single man! You know…I voted for him and I would again. No, I don't like everything he's done….I don't like EVERYTHING that anyone has done…..but I admire him for having the guts to stick to his guns even when it's the least popular thing to do……there is certainly nothing wishy washy about the man……unlike some of those who have leaned from one side of the fence to the other, depending on what is the popular idea of the moment!! At least his behavior in and out of the White House doesn't embarrass me!

WE HAVE ENOUGH FUEL IN OUR OWN COUNTRY TO SUSTAIN US FOR HUNDREDS OF YEARS BUT THE FRIGGIN' ENVIRONMENTALISTS ARE WORRIED ABOUT DRILLING IN ALASKA. NOBODY IS THINKING OF HOW EASY THIS PROBLEM WOULD BE SOLVED. IF YOU WANT MORE OIL…DRILL ON OUR SOIL. GET EDUCATED PEREZ.. STICK WITH WHAT YOU KNOW.

the bush doesn't have control over the oil prices, but he does have the control of the trillions of dollars we are wasting in Iraq, he has control over how the Mid East countries percieve us, so they would open up their tap more, but they wont, cuz of our diplomacy. and this is may be out there… but bush makes $$$$ (indirectly) off the fact that the oil prices are up. once an oil man, always an oil man. so my dear retarded neocon, get your facts straight before you decide to pull them out of your ass.

  27. alys says – reply to this

    127

perez you are an uneducated democrat along with most of your readers. president bush is a good guy and if you stupid libs would just let him do what he wanted to we woulda been out of iraq already. he also doesn't set gas prices. its the stupid ass guys on wall street who are speculating and driving up the prices. if they would refuse to pay so much, the price of oil would go down. or we should just start domestic drilling to lower costs, but the environmentalist wackos dont want that either. they should pay for my gas.

  28. Whatever says – reply to this

    128

Even though George Bush is probably the worst president in US history, I hope you know that the president doesn't really have much to do with the economy. People tend to think that the president has a direct effect on how well the economy is doing and that's rather untrue. However, issues like this are all thanks to George and his beloved war in Iraq.

SO NOW YOU PAY THE PRICE. Are you that dumb? We have enough oil reserves in our own country to fuel cars easily for 50 years. But the Congress won't let us drill. You don't want nuclear energy. You are too LAZY to bike or walk to work. You won't give up your car OR your airplane trips- so stop BLAMING BUSH. YOU are the problem. Hey- I'm all for drilling- preferably in my back yard. But I'm not the one COMPLAINING and BLAMING.

    133

i am so sick of idiotic americans complaining about oil/gas prices. UGH. in europe, they pay up to and above 6 bucks a gallon. Bush is an ugly (inside and out) DUMBASS. Instead of funding research for alternate fuel and Americans instead of getting off your FAT LAZY asses you ask the saudis to bump oil production and complain about democrats in congress blocking tapping our reserves, respectively. Maybe Congress doesn't want to do that b/c of the environmental impact that would have? Or did you forget about that mythological beast that is global warming? Yes, of course this isn't Bush's fault, but like a few posters ahead ofme pointed out the fat lazy overzealous AMERICAN bigots who voted him in the second time and will vote his pet dog/lackey John McCain in the next.

  34. Joe says – reply to this

    134

Why don't we talk about the Democratic led Congress that has failed to move forward any initiatives or policies that can help the people. 37. right wing idiots says – reply to this

    137

One million bucks says that every right-wing retard on here saying the economy and high gas prices are not Bush's fault would be screaming about impeaching Clinton if he was president right now.

Of course it's Bush's fault. His increased spending plus tax cuts caused the largest deficit in the history of the nation. Carrying a large deficit like that caused the value of the dollar to drop. The Iraq War caused the price of oil to go up. Oil has gone up over 350% since he took office, also causing the price of everything else that requires oil or transportation to go up. These are facts. Bush did this. You right-wing retards have no common sense.

    138

perez get a clue…this is a result of years of greed and corruption on both sides…this should have been handled in the 70's….also everyone credited Clinton for the boom we have had for the last 8 or so years…this is what happens when the overinflated bubble bursts….and while things aren't as great as they were, I think the media (including you) is creating a perception that things are grimm adding to the negative energy of the world….think about it…why not encourage people to think positively rather than blame one person (who by the way did not make your credit card debt grow by putting overpriced clothes and concert tickets on your account or make you by a house you couldn't afford)….don't get into politics the world doesn't need another Chicken Little….

  39. hahah says – reply to this

    139

Typical Democrat you are Perez….blame everything on George Bush. It's actually a smart money making policy on American Airlines part and has nothing to do with GWB. Everyone checks luggage for the most part. It's an easy way to make money…it's called smart business. More over this policy was probably put into place to pay for the union employees like the flight attendants (who yes some are nice and do their job but most act like they are bothered to be there) and baggage handlers that demand so much and really do so little.
George W Bush certainly isn't the worst President…he may not be the best but there were others that were worse (ie Jimmy Carter) and there will be more that will be the same if not worse…
If you really want to point fingers point them at the Democratic controlled Congress. Since they have taken over prices of everything including gas have skyrocketed. I guess it's easier to blame Republicans though because all we are are money hungry greedy people right? No…most Republicans lean to the right because they are economically conservative..not so much social. They tend to be more fiscally responsible. Rich does not mean Republican like so many Democrats that act like you Perez tend to believe. It's about being responsible with your money. But maybe Perez if you actually studied things instead of just spouting off shit you would understand how the economy and politics in general work.

They estimate that 4.3 billion barrels of oil exist in Alaska. The US consumes 20 million barrels per day. So all the oil in Alaska would only last us 525 days. Yeah, that's worth it. It wouldn't even pay for all the set-up costs for the drill sites. Right-wing idiots strike again! Why are Republicans so stupid?

Why is it democraps won't let us drill for our own oil, put Americans to work, and lower prices? They say more oil is not the answer - yet every chance they get they demand OPEC supply us with more oil? They obviously understand that its a supply issue, so why do they insist on exporting oilfield jobs and import foreign oil?

Please stick to gossip of you don't plan on actually researching an issue before writing about it.
If I see another post like this I will no longer visit this website.

And for the record, the entire US government going back to the time of Eisenhower is to blame for our continued reliance on foreign oil. We should be supporting alternative energy resources rather than trying to take the easy way out and place the blame on the President.

Contrary to popular belief, the President of the United States really doesn't have all that much say over how the economy is doing, whether it's good or bad. I'm also pretty sure that George Bush isn't the one telling these airlines how to run their business. The only thing this is a sign of is that the airline industry currently has a shitty business model that needs to be changed.

I started coming here because you were always ahead of the curve when it came to gossip. Now I know I'm just going to have to scroll through most articles on a page, because they have to do your twisted politics. Businesses have problems. Some make it, some don't. It's life. It's capitalism. Welcome to America…

    164

    Seriously Perez,
I have tried to ignore your posts blaming Bush for every problem in this country, but this has gone too far. Before you start blaming Bush because you have to pay to check your bags please look into the politics of it. And to everyone who is saying that George Bush is the worst thing to happen to America, move to fucking Canada or shut your fucking mouths. AMERICA put him in office, and other than an unpopular war how has he personally offended you. Approval ratings are always low for wartime presidents and Bush knows that. He is actually a great guy with a big heart who understands that many americans hate him.

Okay - I'm not a huge fan of Bush but he has no control over the economy. Our government has three different branches for a reason. Clinton was not responsible and neither is Bush.

Why didn't you post how Bush has been one of the MOST supportive Presidents when it comes to freedom for Cubans?!?!?! Heaven forbid you would applaud the man for supporting a free market and free speech who you despise so much.

Learn from the senate - both Republicans and Democrats have set aside their differences to be there and support Ted Kennedy. You should do the same.

Eventually it will expire (it may have even expired last year) and so it hasn't fully hit them yet. It has nothing to do with the fact they only fly domestically because Spirit for the most part flies domestically give or take the Carribean and Mexican destinations that aren't that far from the US.

okay all you stupid fucks…. why dont you thank the terrorists for this FIRST. we would never have been in the position we are now if those hate filled pigs had not killed OUR INNOCENT countrymen and women on OUR OWN SOIL…..but how convenient it is for all you democrats to forget the way you felt when you sat there in awe for days watching that footage over and over again, and how Bush's approval rating was at 92% whithin the third month of the war……you have to take the good AND the bad and it's sooooo easy for you liberals to run when it's bad. Isn't that what you do best though anyway?

Perez, you are seriously stupid. George Bush has nothing to do with airline policies or gas prices. Republicans want to drill here so we can quit competing with China and India for energy sources. The useless Democrat Congress says no. So there you go. You DO know that there are three wonderful Cuban Members of Congress, don't you? Yeah, they're Republicans. You're an idiot.

Perez the horrible economy is a result of Clinton's policies, not George Bush's. The poor guy just has to deal with the fact that Clinton's policies are finally affecting average Americans…and I suppose take the blame from uneducated people like yourself.

First off I work for AA and it is not right that we are nickle and dimeing our passengers so that the money goes into our CEO's pocket. Second, yes the front line employees are tired and sick of the company. You can just imagine what it is like to give back money every time we turn around. Third, YES! Perez! It is ok to blame our President. He is our leader! He was voted in to protect us. Where has he protected us. He makes sure that the CEO's and other Priviledge person with money, continue to take money from us working employees. Someone told me the other day that we will be a third-world country pretty soon. So yes America, fly, pay you $15 and $24 dollars to check your bags. Also, Bankrupt, AA, will never happen. The books would have to be opened!

Perez, please stop talking about subject matter you know NOTHING about. Here is a quick lesson for you. OPEC controls the oil, not Bush, nor any president. OPEC is the OIL CARTEL. They decide the price and quantity. Unless you have had your head in Teddys ass for the past few years, the demand of oil has grown rapidly. In turn this increases the price for the oil, which in turn we have to ship and refine. Its basic SUPPLY AND DEMAND.
Instead of sucking all those balls in school maybe you should have listened !

Re: Shelly the Neocon from Long Beach from a liberal: – The funny thing is….when Clinton was in office we were attacked FOUR times by the middle east - the perception was the we do not defend ourselves, Clinton will just sit back and do nothing. It only took once with Bush in office for a lesson to be taught - NO MORE!!!! I would rather have the perception about us that we will kick your ass if you mess with us, than the perception that our Pres is too busy doin his interns to defend us. If Clinton had handled the business in the first place, Bush would have never had to go to war.

    191

ok, seriously, how uninformed is the majority of america (yourself included, perez)?

it's fluctuations in the market, rising food prices (corn ethanol production for all you eco freaks means higher prices of feed for livestock, therefore higher meat/dairy/poultry/egg prices), trade and foreign imports (for half a century we've been relying on foreign oil imports controlled by people that HATE us in the middle east rather than producing and refining domestically, so this is nothing new under Bush). NOT the Bush Admin in particular. Maybe you should talk to your girl Hillary and other Dems in Congress who are about to pass the LARGEST TAX INCREASE IN HISTORY about how tax cuts are what bolster the economy by encouraging people to spend more.

  92. stupidperez says – reply to this

    192

so…let me get this straight. bush started a war FOR OIL so we can now pay more for it?!! what the fuck is your problem perez? can you think for yourself for just one second! the reason we don't have more oil is twofold : WE NEED TO GET OIL FROM ANWAR (a teeny, tiny portion of anwar, the size of a postage stamp on football field btw) and we need to build more OIL REFINERIES. now let's see….who is against the above. DEMOCRATS ONLY.

    BLAME BUSH!

    193

For everyone claiming we should just start drilling here….. That will take lots of money and a number of years before we can even get to that oil. It isn't some faucet we can just turn on. I'm so sick of people wanting a quick fix to every problem. Don't you realize the bigger issue here is our dependence on oil? If we were able to fix that problem and come up with better, more efficient technologies (and not subsidize the inefficient ones) we'd all be better off.

Do you think we'd be wasting time money andAmerican lives in the middle east if there wasn't oil there? Do you think gas prices would be a problem if we had learned our lesson in the 70's? Do you think the mass climate problems would be such a big deal if we would learn to use sustainable fuels that don't harm the earth? Do you think we'd even be considering destroying animal and plant life for a fuel that is not sustainable if there were sustainable options?

Stop being greedy, selfish people. Learn to live by driving and flying less. Use renewable energy sources and public transport. Demand your government to make changes to ensure a future for EVERYONE not a temporary break for yourself. It doesn't matter if your a liberal or a conservative- if we all only think of ourselves and blame others for all our problems there will be no future for our country.
