NO if you read the book Kate feels super ugly because her hair has fallen off due to her cancer treatment so to make her feel better her mom cuts her own hair off and shows her that there is nothing to be ashamed of!
Could be the real thing….it's part of the storyline in the book.
My sister's keeper is a movie about a girl with cancer and how her sister who was concieved to be her donor match.

ok, I like Cameron Diaz. I know she's just suffered tragedy in her own life. I am sorry for her and her family. That said… how dare she joke about being bald? I have no idea what this movie is about, but it looks like two bald people, and that generally means one has a disease that causes or includes baldness as a side effect. Having worn a wig myself, since December, because of my third battle with cancer in 10 years, I am offended that she would joke about the truth of the lack of hair. If Demi could do it for G. I. Jane, why can't Cameron for this movie? And if you're not going to do it, don't pretend to have the balls. Some of us are bald because we have to be. It's hair or life. Don't cheapen yourself, or real life struggles of real life people by claiming courage you don't have. Joke all you want, but not about that.
