The So You Think You Can Dance alum was asked during a recent interview if Avril is difficult to work with as she's painted to be in the press?
After a loooooong pause Sara told me that Avril's "really rad and fun to work with." Ah, just one year in the biz and she's already spinning like a pro. But then again this breaker knows a thing or two about spinning. Since she was rocking a seriously spiky and streaked hairdo, I asked if the new look was for the tour. "Actually, it's a rule we all have to have dark hair, there can only be one blonde on the stage," she told me about blonde Avril. "One of the other dancers is bleach blonde but she has to wear a wig. She actually has like five different dark ones."

What's the big deal about the hair? It's a known rule that back up dancers need to be shorter and less dominant than the actual singer.

I don't mind Avril, I've liked some of her songs the last couple of years..but I liked her best when she came out with her first album. By the second one she started to change a lot and I had lost a lot of interest in her as a performer.
Kind of shocks me that she is performing with the Jonas Brothers, as someone said I thought she was "punk" or "rock" what is she doing performing with a Disney Channel pre teen/young teen pop band? Maybe it is to pull in ticket sales because she knows the young girlies will fill the audience on the tour besides her own fans. Have no clue. But, then again Avril has sounded more "pop" through the years.
As far as the hair thing, yeah it's a little silly, but I can see the concept of it. She wants to stand out amongst her dancers.

Ok, I think Avril is a talentless hack and she's probably a spoiled brat too. But for the one blond clause, I'm not at all suprised by it and I don't blame Avril's being a diva on this either. This is a concert - it's a show. Avril did not put this thing together, TRUST ME. Someone in charge of her, and her show made this rule. I've not seen many - if any - blond back up dancers for Madonna either. They want to make the lead pop! They do it in musical theather, they do it in Vegas. Don't blame this on Avril - there are plenty of other sound arguments against her.

ALTHOUGH she is all grown up now at 23, Avril Lavigne still looks and sounds like most of her teenage audience, with a dash of crazy colour in her hair, sparkly eyeshadow, tomboy T-shirt and skull-and-crossbones logo embroidered on the knee of her jeans just to show she's a teeny bit rebellious.
However, this is rebellion Disney-style. Lavigne can let out a bratty punk scream when she wants to, but her set was full of carefully manicured, high-energy guitar pop. Neither an outsider icon nor charismatic star, she is more of an Everygirl performer, eager to show off her one-handed cartwheel, her limited drumming abilities and her collection of pink, sparkly guitars – for which, sweetly, she elicited enthusiastic squeals from the fans.
This was the first date of her world tour, which may account for the perfunctory performance, only enlivened by a troupe of dancers. Lavigne's voice sounded thin and shrieky, but the audience came to sing along and there was plenty opportunity for that during the opening Girlfriend, Complicated, My Happy Ending and the belting ballad I'm With You.
Energy levels picked up in the encore, which featured Toni Basil's Mickey and maximised the cheerleader potential of her own catchy catalogue. She rounded off her routine with the obligatory Sk8er Boi, the quintessential teen melodrama which may become her musical millstone as she tries to ease out of eternal adolescence.

Pint-sized singer Avril Lavigne wowed a sold out audience with her biggest hits and songs from her latest album The Best Damn Thing, and to be honest, it wasn't that far off.
As a 22-year-old male I wasn't expecting to be impressed with the pop-punk princess, but I soon found myself fully embracing her in-your-face rebellious rock 'n' roll attitude.
It's easy to forget how many hits the 23-year-old has actually racked up since her debut album Let Go went platinum at the tender age of 17, but I was soon reminded.
The Canadian rocker opened the set with an electric rendition of Girlfriend that had everyone singing along and waving their glowsticks frantically in the air.
Avril then displayed her multitude of talents by performing the drums, piano and guitar at various times in the set, as well as bouncing around the stage with her backing dancers, to her slickly choreographed dance moves.
The show was all about Avril, but the packed crowd were fully involved throughout, singing along to classics like Happy Ending, When You're Gone, Complicated and I'm With You.
