Re: Alli – Not only is your post contradictory, but quite obviously you're deluded as well. You claim that the west "do it [block voting] as well", but then deny it happens in the east at all. You can't have it both ways. Either it happens or it doesn't. It was predicted that Russia would win a week before the event this year! Block voting and political exists, that's why the UK always gets points from Ireland, and why Denmark gets points from Norway and why the eastern and Baltic countries always do so well - because there's more of them. It doesn't matter how many western countries get into the final, because there is always more eastern countries voting. Maybe if France/Spain/Germany all have civil wars and split into loads of tiny separate countries and they start winning all the time, you'll see what the rest of Europe already knows.
The song is OK, you will like it when you listen for the second time.
People voted for Dima, because he is well known in East Europe. Russian pop music is listened in the countries around, it actually became good, so that I do not prefer American pop music by default anymore, as it was in the 1990es.
Other people voted for Dima, because they know Pluschenko. Dima also took 2nd place in Eurovision 2006.

People from Western Europe should send famous singers to Eurovision to win, not newcomers. For example, the UK has a lot of stars, but it sends strange guys instead. So, it took the last place for the second time.

It should be Balticvision instead of Eurovision. The Uk, Spain, France etc will never have a chance in hell of winning no matter who they choose to represent them because the eastern Europeans all vote for eachother, yawn! Any European singer or band that is remotely famous past the borders of their home country would never participate in Eurovision because it would do nothing for them except put a damper on their career. The second place is the first loser..

As far as bloc voting goes: It's always been there, it's always gonna be there. However it's more transparent these days. As an example, 20 yrs ago when Norway gave 12 points to Sweden and Sweden gave 12 to Norway it didn't necessarily decide the competition. Nowadays you have (still just an example) Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, FYR Macedonia, Serbia, Montenegro, that's 6×12 points which can make a big difference.
So, to say that Eastern Europe always wins because they produce the best hits isn't the whole truth. (Because they don't

GB, Germany, France and Spain should totally pull out of the competition and have their own. Right now they're only good enough to pay but not good enough to win. And don't tell me that their songs were crap. Yes, some of last night, esp. Germany, were. I really loved how Spain decided to send Rodulfo as their song rep. they KNOW that they'll never win the contest, they didn't even win when Julio Iglesias was thier song choice. This comedy show created the song, El Chiki Chiki, and encouarged every media outlet in the country to play and choose this song to critize and make fun of the awards. Its a great song….however this years winner isn't even worth it, this song would probably have tanked in the states.

The Eurovision Song Contest is regarded as a joke, not only because the voting system is unfair, but because so many countries no longer take it seriously, and the acts are not the best they have to offer. Some of them are embarrassingly laughable. Didn't Abba get their first taste of success in this contest with their song "Waterloo"? When I show my kids pictures of the outfits Abba used to wear, particularly the girls, they laugh, however they are aware of their music. I guess the contest is a uniquely European event, and those of us who don't live there find it different to what we're used to, which is usually highly Americanized productions. A lot of what comes out of America isn't too crash hot either! Instead of reducing the blog to the hurling of racist insults, perhaps it might do us all good to remember that we live in different countries with different cultural backgrounds. After all, it's only a silly song contest!
To me the vocals didn't sound that good. Maybe I'm just used to different styles here in the US. Different strokes for different folks. Nice skating though.

Eurovision Song Contest is all about politics.
Western countries will never win anymore, …. but winning is still possible, if, for example, UK would represent a Serbian singer, and Germany a Russian singer. In this case UK would 12 points from Serbia, and Germany would get also 12 points from Russia and its neighboring countries.
I suggest they call "Eastern-european Song Contest" instead of Eurovision or European Song Contest….
