When Teachers Give Sell Their Students Drugs

A teacher from Sunny Hills High School in Fullerton, CA, has just been arrested.
The reason?
Turns out the professor is locked up on narcotics and weapon charges!!!!
According to police sergeant Mike MacDonald, several anonymous 911 calls were received about the shady teacher.
One caller stated that he "had purchased drugs from a person he believed to be a teacher at Sunny Hills."
Sgt. MacDonald added that the "caller also said the person, who he identified as Abbott, had a weapon in his vehicle."
The teacher in question is 31 year-old Gregory Abbott, who has taught history at Sunny Hills for the past seven years. He is also the school's track coach.
Sgt. MacDonald stated that the Police Department's High School Resource Officer then contacted Abbott in his classroom and got permission to search his vehicle.
And shockingly enough, the search turned up some prescription drugs, some marijuana packaged for sale, and an unload shotgun.
Idiot!
Abbott posted his $25,000 bail.
Let's hope they keep him away from the children.
Something needs to be done about better screening teachers!!!

Not defending him or anything, but your headline is misleading. He never sold anything to his students or even brought it up around them. They interviewed several of his students who said they were shocked at this.

Re: junx – I AGREE. i'm a teacher and i HAVE to work a second job just to make ends meet… this guy was just doing his part in helping the economy… (ok, not really…) but seriously… teachers aren't perfect. the screenings for hiring us are basic background checks… which is enough, in my opinion. if they don't want teachers who smoke up, then they should give us drug tests… though i know at least half the teachers in my school would fail.
teachers are only teachers in school… we need to be able to have lives outside of school that we can enjoy without the label of "teacher" on our foreheads. i think if you teach, you should live at least a half hour away from where you work. separate your two lives. …and certainly don't have drugs in your car in the school parking lot! dummy.
How about instead of screening them, paying them? Then they won't need all the 2nd and 3rd jobs ya fat gay ball of goo.

WE NEED TO LOOK AT THE FACT THAT WE DON'T PAY OUR TEACHERS ENOUGH! It's not about screening as much as it is you get what you pay for. These are people who have thousands of dollars in student loans getting payed d*ck per hour! Living wages, ones where you can afford both a mortgage and a car payment should not be too much to ask for the people who help raise and shape our children!

Abbot is Legit!! I had this guy as a teacher while i was at Sunny Hills and he was a good, guy he just had a series of bad event happen to him which led him to this bad decision !!! I've got your back Abbot!!!

So if you can get those two things, chances are you have a brain. And if your brain wants to sell drugs or have sex with minors, guess what, you're going to do it. He will still be allowed to teach….an in-law of mine is a teacher and he served alcohol to minors, (his former students at his home….what were they doing there??) and all the school board did was fine him, slap him on the wrist and send him to another school to teach. Ridiculous.

This sounds like a set up to me. I graduated from SHHS Mr. Abbott was so passionate about teaching/coaching and was probably one of the most stand-up, well-respected teachers on campus. This is so disheartening and my thoughts are with him as he goes through this horrific ordeal.

This has been going on for a long time. I was a a camp counsellor a few years ago and a counsellor got caught selling drugs to campers. He got fired, the kids got a slap on the wrist.

The US does not value teachers. I teach in one of the wealthiest counties in the country - I have to choose between needed dental work vs car repair vs vet bill. Just found out the county is lowering our measly standard of living raise to 2%. My rent went up 6%. I not only teach but counsel kids in distress. It is an important job. I happen to believe in what I do. Too bad my country doesn't ….. anymore.
