When Teachers Give Sell Their Students Drugs

A teacher from Sunny Hills High School in Fullerton, CA, has just been arrested.
The reason?
Turns out the professor is locked up on narcotics and weapon charges!!!!
According to police sergeant Mike MacDonald, several anonymous 911 calls were received about the shady teacher.
One caller stated that he "had purchased drugs from a person he believed to be a teacher at Sunny Hills."
Sgt. MacDonald added that the "caller also said the person, who he identified as Abbott, had a weapon in his vehicle."
The teacher in question is 31 year-old Gregory Abbott, who has taught history at Sunny Hills for the past seven years. He is also the school's track coach.
Sgt. MacDonald stated that the Police Department's High School Resource Officer then contacted Abbott in his classroom and got permission to search his vehicle.
And shockingly enough, the search turned up some prescription drugs, some marijuana packaged for sale, and an unload shotgun.
Idiot!
Abbott posted his $25,000 bail.
Let's hope they keep him away from the children.
Something needs to be done about better screening teachers!!!

Doing drugs, no matter your profession, is completely different than SELLING THEM TO KIDS.
I actually went to Sunny Hills, and I certainly hope Coach Abbott's bad decision doesn't reflect badly on the school because it is an excellent high school with great academic pedigree. Besides, I knew Coach Abbott (he was my summer school econ teacher and my best friend's track coach) and he's the nicest man ever. He was actually a great teacher who liked teaching. And it's true- he's had some terrible things happen to him recently, what with his wife leaving him after cheating on him with another coach on the staff, etc. I actually feel terrible for his kids- they were some of the cutest kids and he would tell us stories about them all the time!
Oh, and as a side note, Coach Abbott is INSANELY HOT if you can't really tell from that horrible mugshot. He has the biggest, most gorgeous blue eyes in the world too!
Geez *rolleyes* way to do a background check before you hire someone to teach kids! It's pathetic what schools in America have come to.

UGH! Perez, you are obviously ignorant! Teachers now have to be fingerprinted and their info (including driver's license and Soc. Security #)goes into a database. I'm a teacher in TX and everyone on my staff was fingerprinted a few months ago. It was MANDATORY. I'm totally supportive of that. But while we're at it, let's do the same for ANYONE who works with children - daycare workers, youth pastors, etc. And what about holding the school districts accountable when they hire people who already have criminal records?!?! That still happens! Jeez, even 7-Eleven does a thorough background check before hiring someone. I would even be willing to piss in a cup to make people like you shut the hell up. Just remember that random drug testing would cost taxpayers more money. Are you gonna bitch and moan about that too?
There's so many hardworking dedicated teachers out there. All it takes is one incident like this, and suddenly we're ALL treated with suspicion.

I think this story is bullshit! The guy was an idiot for keeping that stuff in his car, but a little bit of weed doesn't prove he was selling it, and it definitely doesn't prove he was selling it to kids, or even had it around kids.

Perhaps if the school districts paid teachers what they are worth, some of them wouldn't have to supplement their incomes. With the budget cuts, you can bet the first thing to be cut will be teachers' salaries.

In cases like this, I don't think there's anything more they really can do except listen to what the students have to say and then investigate. I mean, the students interact with the teachers more than the administration does.

I went to sunny hills many years ago…this isn't the first time a teacher has done something or something bad has happened. A lesbian PE teacher shot her lover in the 90's (no joke), a bunch of kids killed another kid from foothill high school and put him in a 9 inch grave in the backyard (known as the Stuart Tay murder…look it up), in 98/97 a group of kids were killed in a car reck on the way to homecoming…and there is a well known teacher that married a former student after she graduated.
lets see … was a student at sunny hills. shocked to hear this b/c he was everything nice. told my mom who works for the fullerton school district. AND SHE SAID … "I HEARD SOMETHING THAT THIS MAY BE A SET UP FROM HIS EXWIFE." and i let out a sigh and said … THAT MAKES TOTAL sense. to clarify .. a few years ago .. coach abbot's wife cheated on him with co-coach wellen. she's a slutty bitch who threw away a good man. also … if u read the news reports, it said that ABBOT CONSENTED TO HAVE HIS CAR SEARCHED. which probly means the police didnt have a warrent which means abbot couldv said "no u cant search my car" which means he probly didnt know there was a gun and drugs in his car.
