Governor David Paterson of New York has told state agencies and organizations that it must start recognizing and respecting same-sex marriages performed in states and countries where they are legal, like California or Canada.
In other related news, new surveys show that MOST Californians support gay marriage.

I think this is wrong. If we change the definition of marriage, wouldn't it need to be changed for all? What about those that believe in plural marraige, or want to marry underage children, family members etc. Should the law be expanded to include their desire to be married as well?

Erica my advice to you is, actually find out what the person is saying before you knee-jerk and attack them like you just did. I WAS speaking hypothetically. As I believe we all know what such things exist and don't exist now. My idea was that we SHOULD have congress not recognize marriage, and only recognize civil unions for EVERYONE. So that EVERYONE would be treated EQUALLY.
Now if some religious folk want to get a civil union, AND have a marriage ceremony, they can.
I was giving out an idea. One that didn't promote bigotry either way. One that does promote equal rights for everyone. Which I am all for.
Again, tolerance isn't accepting someone's lifestyle or beliefs. Tolerance is how you treat those very people you disagree with.

Actually they really had no definite reasons why they removed homosexuality from the mental disorder book other than politically correct reasons. That and the often used,(abused) lie of the 10% number was used. (Now they have come to the conclusion it's more like 2-4% of the population are homosexuals, which BTW goes a long with similar disorder statistics.
The ironic part about this all is, one of the MAIN doctors that got homosexuality taken out of said illness books, the same guy that gays everywhere were profession as a genius, a man ahead of his time, is NOW saying that homosexuals can if they want, lead a healthy heterosexual lifestyle. That they can change. He had been studying it for a decade or so. And has seen cases of men that in a decades time, still had no homosexual tendencies after the transformation. Now saying this, he said that as a society we shouldn't MAKE homosexuals change. That would be bad. That instead, this just gives hope to those that are homosexual, but do not wish to be that way. This is all about being happy with yourself. And if you aren't happy being gay, and there is a way to change that and make you happy, ANYONE and EVERYONE should support it. Regardless of their political or lifestyle beliefs. Otherwise you'd be just as big of a bigot as the people you claim to hate.

And that Book doesn't say being gay is wrong so much as practicing homosexual sex is wrong. But regardless, people have freedom to believe what they want. That is a poor argument. For one, in the animal kingdom, sometimes the mothers eat their young. Would that be also acceptable for us? it is really nice that some people are very passionate about fighting for equal rights , we as a gay couple understand where are these people coming from and their own frustration because as we all know we live in a world where everybody are not equal and don't have equal right ,on the other hand we just try to focus on ourselves and what really it means to our family and friends when it comes to our relationship ,we recently had a ceremony ,had the party and the whole wedding thing and it was fabulous and whether the government accepts it or not and this goes to every single ignorant person that will never recognize our union , the only thing we can say is we really don't need your permission because as for both of us we have been married long before we had the wedding , it is our love and devotion to one another that will count and always will together with our loving family and friends and chances are our marriage will last longer compared to the others because we are pretty sure we are going to love and respect one another ,the next thing we want to do is to adopt children ,those children that was neglected by their own straight parents.
