As you (hopefully) already know, earlier this month - on May 12th - a deadly earthquake hit China's southwest Sichuan province.
The tragedy left almost 88,000 people missing or dead, with estimates that nearly 70,000 people were killed.
Then just a week later at the Cannes Film Festival, Sharon Stone said something that has sparked controversy worldwide.
She blamed the Chinese for getting the earthquake, due to their bad karma!
WTF?!?!
Stone said, "I'm not happy about the way the Chinese are treating the Tibetans because I don't think anyone should be unkind to anyone else. And then all this earthquake and all this stuff happened, and I thought, is that karma — when you're not nice that the bad things happen to you?"
The remarks have caused uproars in China.
They have already promised to boycott her and her films.
Of course, after the bad press, Stone has apologized for suggesting the earthquake came due to their bad karma. And to try and do good, she's offered to help with the relief efforts and cleanup.
Stone says, "My erroneous words and deeds angered and saddened the Chinese people, and I sincerely apologise for this. I'm willing to participate in any earthquake relief activity and to do my utmost to help Chinese people affected by the disaster."
Some celebrities should just stick to acting and keep quiet when it comes to politics.

Plus the products they put out are less than great. They do not have the inspections we have and I don't think they really care. Even though it's hard because so much is imported from them, I try to boycott. I knew a lot of animals that were either killed or hurting for life because of the dog/cat poisionings. If people do not respect animals and life, they will eventually not have respect for humans as well.
Sharon Stone made sense when she said that but Im not tolerating it. I think she is truthfully a caring and compassionate person. I thank God for Madonna and Sharon had patched things up and are now friends.

Sharon wasn't talking about the people in China. She was talking about the Government. She said she wondered if it's Karma. There's a difference. Wow. That's so bad. I work in a Chinese/Vietnamese/Thai restaurant for 6 months. I learned a lot and made really good friends. Anyway, one day our waitress was absent. I asked the other server, who was Vietnamese, if she was sick. He scolded me and told me never to say that about an Asian person because it was offensive and they believed it jinxed them. I can only slightly imagine after learning that how angry they must be about her thoughtless comments.
Clearly to say all Americans or all Chinese are bad is ignorant. However, different cultures have different views and ways of doing things. I personally think culture doesn't necessarily equal right. Eg I do not believe in cannabalism of some cultures, or the way women or children are treated, or eating dogs, etc. and inhumanely treating animals as is the practice in some areas of China and other countries who do not highly regard the sanctity of all life. Besides for that, their government is horrible. That being said, I do not agree that karma is responsible for all those deaths. All governments have their evils. Americans constantly suffer harsh critisisms from around the world, and no, we are not perfect and neither is our government, but we, as people for the most part, strive to do better. We strive for equal rights for all, including women and minorities, and a lot of us fight for animal rights. All any of us can do, regardless of what country we are from, is strive to do better each day and treat our fellow humans and all living creatures with respect. If everyone did this, the world would be a much better place.

I don't agree with what China did to Tibet, but I still think that's a horrible thing to say! Even if the Chinese government was/is horrible to the Tibetans, that is probably due to the action of government officials in the power to oppress others. Chances are that at least 99% of the 88,000 Chinese people left missing or dead were just regular citizens that had nothing to do with the oppression of the Tibetans and the only thing that they are guilty of on that account is being born Chinese. How dare she say that the loss of innocent lives are ok just because they are Chinese!!! An earthquake that caused the deaths of so many people, no matter what the nationality, should be considered a tragedy and no one should look at the situation smugly and cite karma as the reason. Ms. Stone was name dropping the Dhali Lama and telling how the Tibetians wanted her to make a comment on the fact that Tibet is helping earthquake struck China. That's when she started questioning the karma of it all.

First of all the clip of edited. The entire story is in the the New York Times. Sharon was telling the reporter about the fundraising organization that was been set up to help the victims. But, they erase everything she was saying to the part to Karma. Sharon wasn't talking about the citizen of China. She was talking about the Government. Everything was distorted. Even her apology was rewritten to make her look bad. This is where in the world we have reach, where wrong is right, and right is wrong. First of all the clip was edited. The entire story is in the the New York Times. Sharon was telling the reporter about the fundraising organization that was been set up to help the victims. But, they erase everything she was saying to the part to Karma. Sharon wasn't talking about the citizen of China. She was talking about the Government. Everything was distorted. Even her apology was rewritten to make her look bad. This is where in the world we have reach, where wrong is right, and right is wrong. Some of you guys are complete dumbfucks! The people of China are not responsible for the actions of their government. So the majority of the people who have lost their lives, homes, and loved ones were for the most part innocent of wrong against Tibetans. Their government is to blame. And before we, Americans, point fingers at evil wrongdoers let us not forget our country invaded another country under false pretenses overthrew their leader (overthrowing a political leader just because you don't like them violates the Geneva Convention) and caused deadly civil unrest. As citizens of the U.S. we are not considered any more accountable for our governments actions than the Chinese for the actions of theirs. And before sloppy bitches like Sharon Stone opens their mouths they should realize "once the words are said not a thousand horses can drag them back."
