Sad sad news.
Hockey player Luc Bourdon was killed Thursday afternoon when his motorcycle struck a tractor-trailer in northern New Brunswick, Canada.
Bourdon played for the Vancouver Canucks and was the first round draft pick for the team.
He was only 21-years old.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

My heart goes out to his family, I'm so sorry for them. RIP.
terrible news today….this is a heartbreaking loss to hockey, and to canada. all our thoughts and prayers are with the family. we're going to miss you here, luc.
I am from Vancouver too and I definitely appreciate Perez writing something about a true celebrity!
I went to high school with Luc…..New Brunswick will miss you. rip.
As a Canucks fan I am so sad about Luc's tragic death. His poor family! Word to the wise: don't fuck with motorcycles! They aren't toys! He had only owned his bike for a few days … what a waste of a young life full of potential.
I read Perez everyday and I thank you for posting this. I am from New-Brunswick and am so sad by this news. This is why Canada loves you Perez! xx
Sad! I'm originally from New Brunswick and accidents happen. But the laws are no different than anywhere else - helmets are required and I'm sure he wasn't stupid enough not to wear one. Motorcycles are no more dangerous if driven properly than any other vehicle. I wish his family well.
I live in shippagan so I know what happens and he was wearing a helmet it was rainng so he loose the control of his motorcycle…
Re: Alexis – Actually in Canada it is against the law to ride a mototcycle without a helmet. So I bet he was wearing a helmet.
Re: maybe – couldn't disagree with you more. A close family friend passed away after a collsion with a tractor trailer. They were driving a 2007 Ford F-150 and speed wasn't a factor the police stated. Obviously a motorcycle is more dangerous though, I wasn't try to say that they aren't. I was just stating that accidents do happen and when they are unfortuante enought to include a tractor trailer the outcome is usually more tragic, sadly. I'm sorry if the last comment didn't come across as well. Regards.
What a tragic loss - from Vancouver to his home in New Brunswick, our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.
Forever a Canuck - Rest In Peace, Luc.
Re: pc – It's always sad when good-looking people die. Is it also sad when good, unattractive people die??
my thoughts go out to his family at this time. i am truly saddened to hear another mother has lost a child. God Bless. RIP. xoxox -L
thank you for this, Perez… everyone needs to know what a good kid Luc was. much too talented and much too young to be gone. he will be missed.
This is very sad news I watched him play for team canada and with the nucks ..he was a very good player and had a bright future…
RIP Luc Bourdon
Wow, I did not expect to see this on Perez.. but I want to thank you Perez for bringing this to the attention of all the readers of your website. Luc is someone who needs to be celebrated. Such a GREAT talent, he was destined for big things. No one can even begin to describe how much of a great person Luc was.
Today is a day of mourning for hockey fans all over the world.
Luc played for a team that I would regularly watch, the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, before he went pro in the AHL. He was a fan favorite everywhere he went. Everytime he skated on the ice the rink would be filled with the chants of "LUUUUUUUUUUUUUUC!" from each and every fan in attendance. I'll never forget the smile that would bring to his face.
At the young age of 21 Luc accomplished more than many of us could ever think of.. and we will always be very proud of him.
I've read some of the posts and see how the comments on here are turning into a battle about how dangerous/unsafe motorcycles are.. please do not let his over shadow Luc's memory. Lets remember him for who he was when he was with us.
RIP Luc Bourdon
You will be greatly missed.
It's a shame that the first time my province is mentioned on a site like this is when something sad happens! Poor guy!
I'm so sad this is how New Brunswick had to premier on Perez. RIP Luc, our province will miss you terribly.
:'( Rest In Peace Luc !!
I was a huge fan of luc Bourdon.. watched him play for the Q team in cape breton whe he was on it and watched him in the wrold jrs ! its so shocking to hear this.. i saw it on the news, and i broke down crying : ( . He was a great, great guy ! he was just so young..so sad : ( . you'll always be missed here in cape breton Luc !! my prayers are with other fans of luc, his family and his friends
RIP LUC BOURDON …. You will be missed and your presence will forever be with the Vancouver Canucks. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! So much potential :'( Thoughts to the Bourdon family at this difficult time.
may God rest him in peace
im sad because he was a guy from Quebec…he was representing us. so…
As a Vancouverite and a Canuck fan, this is terrible but as a person who treasures the importance of family, this is the absolute worst. RIP Luc.
aww, omg, thats so sad =(
he was only 21? wow.
RIP
I'm living in Vancouver, and while not a fan of the Canucks, my heart goes out to his family.
Be very careful on bikes, y'all - they kill. I hope the people he hit are all doing ok.
Re: Alexis – You have to wear a helmet in Canada on a motorcycle it's the law.I live in New brunswick.
Rest In Peace Luc Bourdon.
Re: Alice –

One of my friends was drafted by the canucks the same year as bourdon…so so sad to los such a young kid with such amazing potential! My thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and teammates.
Thank you for showing an interest in the BEST TEAM SPORT IN THE WORLD! It's a shame it was for such a sad occasion (only 21?!?)… RIP, Luc.
Perez - Keep watching the puck! Canada loves ya…
Thanks for posting this Perez, it is awesome that you are giving some recognition to a guy who was truly promising. It surprised me to see this story on here, so thank you for saying something. I live in Canada and I am a huge flames fan so i was always seeing the canucks play and Luc really was a great player, he was amazing in the world juniors as well. Us Canadians take massive pride in hockey and our players so this is very devastating to all of us im sure. R.I.P Luc
#9…I don't know what back woods hick town you managed to slither your red neck ass out of today, but in New Brunswick Canada it's the law to wear a helmet and secondly, he was wearing it…I'm sure his family appreciates your tude - fucknoid~!
I heard about the loss this morning while I was at work…I'm from Vancouver and a huge Canucks fan…such shocking news to hear….so deeply saddened…he had such a great future ahead of him and all ripped away in a matter of minutes…R.I.P.
Perez I applaud you on posting stories that aren't strictly American or Hollywood…I actually came on here knowing you'd post this…good job
Re: mai –

r.i.p luc
wow this is so sad
im a huge canucks fan, and i live in northern new brunswick, this is a major shock.
One of the nicest people in Canadian sports. He was a gentlemen. He worked his ass off to see gay marriage happen in Canada. It's very sad, it's always the good ones who's life is cut short. SO SO sad.
Thanks for recognizing this Perez. He was a great person and player.
Re: Alice – loll hes not even from quebec -_- , he's from New-Brunswick, and yeah… mes pensees vont pour la famille, R.I.P Bourdon
Luc was a very talented hockey player, and i enjoyed watching him. RIP and my thoughts go out to his friends and family
I Cryed when i herd that its so sad
Luc was one of the most kind hearted people I have ever met in my life. I have so many stories of what a generous, thoghtful individual he was. From someone who actually knows him, and has spent time with him and had him play hockey in my very own city in his junior career, it is a great loss to our community, our province, and the hockey world in general. for the individual who said he probably wasnt wearing a helmet, how dare you disrespect him like that. you didnt know him and you werent there. Rest In Peace Luc. you will be missed by all who's lives you have touched, including mine
Thanks for putting this up on your site Perez. The entire City of Vancouver is in a complete state of shock right now. Luc was a great hockey player with limitless potential. I had the pleasure of seeing him play on many occasions. My heart breaks for his family, his friends and his teammates. The Canucks are a pretty tight knit crew and this must have shaken the entire organization to it's core.
R.I.P LUUUUUUUUUUUUC! You will be missed!
He was soo talented, I'm just shocked!!!
i live in vancouver and he was one of my favourite players, he had such a promising future in him.
RIP LUC BOURDON
Re: Alice – Luc was NOT from Quebec at all, he was born and raise in Shippagan New Brunswick, he played in the QMJHL's Val d'Or Foreurs, that doesn't make me a quebecker lol!!! He also played with the Moncton wild cats and Cape Breton. He was a rising star and everyone in our community in Shippagan are saddened, RIP Luc, my thoughts are with the Bourdon family.
doesnt he look like greasy bear? haha
I'm from Vancouver and I absolutely LOVE the Vancouver Canucks and when I heard this tragic news it brought tears to my eyes…my condolence goes out to his family and friends at this tough time.
R.I.P Luc Bourdon…You will be missed.
Re: evan – don't you sound like a greasy redneck heartless geek.

Luke was a great canucks player and very nice person too
So young with such a bright future.. what a tragedy. Thanks for posting this, Perez. Love and prayers to the Bourdon family from all of BC.
Awful news. He was hot, too. So sad.
(Thanks for the hockey news you've been putting in here, Perez! There are a lot of good looking men in hockey!)
perez you are a dick. is this really the only picture you have of him? you had to put the picture of him picking his nose? you really are a dickhead.
how much $ was he making in hockey?
I'm heartbroken.
R.I.P.
Thanks for the memories Luc. (06/07 World Juniors)
You will be missed.
Condolensces to the Bourdon family.
As a hockey fan, I am deeply saddend to hear about his loss. He was so young, and had such a bright future. My heart and prayers go out to his family, friends, teammates and all those who it has affected.
And thank you Perez for posting this and shining some light on the NHL and its players.
Thoughts and prayers go out to the Bourdon family and to the rescue workers that were on scene.
this is sad.
so many young players have been killed in the past few years due to automobile accidents.
Another tragedy on our horrible highways. In little less than a year around here we have lost 4 young men, then another 4 boys, then another couple of young men, then on January 12, about half hour away from Luc Bourdon's accident, 7 members of the local basketball team (BHS- Boys in Red) plus their teacher were killed. Now a young hockey player….
Too many harsh reminders of how short life is, no matter who you are. May he Rest in Peace.
I already miss you Luc. You always be in my heart.
Re: Alice – dude il veint de shippagan NOUVEAU BRUNSWICK
omg i didnt know that. everyone around me is a canuck fan….
thats so sad for his family, and us.
That's really sad…thoughts and prayers to his family…=(
Shocking sad news. Our deepest sympathy and prayers go out to Luc's family
and friends and the Canucks organization.Thank you for posting this story Perez.
Re: Alexis – Everyone who drives a motorcycle in New Brunswick wears a helmet…It's the law!! He lost control of his motorcycle in the rain and ended up in a head on collision with a tractor-trailer…Try to inform yourself before making assumptions!
RIP Luc, forever a Vancouver Canuck
So sad…..
My boyfriend played with him, and he lives about an hour away from our town. Soo sad
Soo sad. It really breaks my heart to hear about things like this, makes you realize how easily your life can be taken away, just like that.
Wow… that's pretty weird to see someone from home on here. O.O
Still, it's pretty sad that it was for such a sad reason….
I am deeply sadened by this news.
My heart is with his family and friends.
I hope his family finds peace in his many accomplishments in just 21 years.

RIP Luc, you were awesome to watch on the ice…thanks for Believing In Blue
so so tragic..
rip luc
you made your mark on the ice and your mark in our hearts.
so much potential, so young.
thanks perez for posting this.
i saw you play for team canada.. you were full of heart.
rest in peace. you'll be greatly missed.
im from vancouver and just wanted to thank you for your support of such a sad thing…he was a great player
it's so sad when we see such a talented young man die before his time.
One thing you need to understand here, the guy was obviously doing what he enjoyed, riding his bike. If thats the way he went out, he was doing what he loved doing. Live life to its fullest since you never know what tomorrow brings, that applies to all of us. He will be missed by all of us, apparently it was his time, our prayers go out to his survivors.
What a terrible loss for the NHL. I'm a Red Wings fan, but the loss of any player is a loss for the whole league. RIP Luc, thoughts and prayers to his family.
Living in the northeastern states of America, I grew up watching and playing hockey. What a sad thing to see a young talent gone.
i couldn't believe it when i saw this on the news this morning. i'm from vancouver, and it was evident that so many people thought rather highly of luc bourdon. he was definitely on his way to being an amazing player. he left us much too soon. it honestly doesn't make any sense to nag at who's fault it was, or who was stupider…the hard truth is that he is gone, and that we can only grieve and hopefully learn a lesson. my thoughts are with the canucks and the bourdon family.
Thank you Perez for posting this. I'm from Van and my team is the nucks so it means a lot to see it!! =)
Re: Alice – what are you taking about? he's not the younger canadian player?!
Terrible loss for the Canucks and the whole hockey community. I didn't get to watch him much because of where I live. But it was obvious that he had a lot of potential and talent. As a hockey fan in the Washington D.C. area (Capitals fan here), I send my sympathy, thoughts, and prayers to the Canucks organization and his family.
I, thank you Perez for posting this on your blog, both as a hockey fan and a huge fan of your blog. The hockey community appreciates it. =]
RIP Luc. Much too young to die. He was so talented. What a horrible loss for Atlantic Canada. They really love and stand by their hockey players. Sidney Crosby is like a Greek god over there. Luc too.
