Sad sad news.
Hockey player Luc Bourdon was killed Thursday afternoon when his motorcycle struck a tractor-trailer in northern New Brunswick, Canada.
Bourdon played for the Vancouver Canucks and was the first round draft pick for the team.
He was only 21-years old.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

So sad! May God rest his soul!
I know how that family feels….My sister and her husband were killed on a motor scooter on their honeymoon. I was only 15, my sister was 22, her husband was 25.
LUUUUUUUUUC.
I was hoping you'd post this, I got the text message after the news broke and I felt like I got punched in the stomach. Such a shock. One of the most promising defenseman in the system.
RIP Luc!
R.I.P. Luc…you went before your time
Re: evan –
how DARE you!
show some respect to a great young man whos life was cut short by a terrible accident.
RIP LUUUUUC!
we miss you buddy
awwwww…that's too bad.
Hey Perez,
Thanks so much for this posting. He was a great hockey player and proudly represented Canada.
Perez, thank you for posting the news. Luc was an absolutely amazing hockey player, and he represented Canada in the best way possible. Future world championship teams will definitely miss his presence on the blue line..RIP LUC!
Being a big Canucks fan, I followed Luc's career, and this phenomenal young athelete was going to be a great player. Such a tragedy, and a loss to the team and his family.
We will miss you Luc. R.I.P.
R.I.P. Bourdon..such a big big loss in the hockey world..our thoughts and prayers are with all the family.
RIP Luc. so young and talented.
He was on the Manitoba Moose team too.
Re: Alexis –
"Stupid loss"? Extremely stupid comment, more like. He crashed head-on into a semi truck; he would've died had he been wrapped up in a mattress.
Thank you Perez for posting this!
This is such sad news, he had so much potential.
RIP BOURDON
Ok, all you fucktards, BEFORE you run your cock-sucker, here are some facts, buses have around 24 times more accidents than motorcycles, cars have around 12 times more accidents than motorcycles, trucks slightly less than cars, etc. The fatality figures per accident are Motorcycles 1%, Cars 2%, Trucks 2%, Buses 3% and Jeepneys 3%. ***R.I.P
I heard that his sister had to confirm his death. That must have been very difficult. This is very sad. RIP. Alexis: that was very ignorant of you to assume he wasn't wearing helmet.
Bourdon was the kind of player that puts in his all in every opportunity, and slowly but surely builds his fundamentals so that before anyone knows it, he has become a household name. It's too bad that he didn't have the chance to see his veteran-like calmness and serenity pay off for himself and the Canucks. He truly understood the role of a defender within the game of hockey, and that kind of understanding would be key in allowing him to grow beyond the defender role and into a well rounded player. Gone at 21, he takes with him a massive amount of potential never materialized.
Met him last september. He was such a nice guy, totally down to earth, ridiculously funny. It's a tragic loss. My heart goes out to his family
My goodbye to Luc will be in my broken French, as an homage to this great Francophone player.
Repose bien, mon ami. Au revoir.
It is so sad to see such a tragic loss in the hockey family. Condolences from San Jose and Sharks fans. RIP Luc…
Re: G – FUCK YOU. R.I.P Luc!
The hockey community lost a great person and player with an amazing future ahead of him. I wish every Canucks fan and player heartfelt condolences
luc was a friend and he'll be missed by the city of vancouver and around the nhl! thanks perez for making this dedication!
RIP LUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUC (everyone at gm place use to do a luc chant whenever he would touch the puck) =(
Please do not give everybody false assurance that it is safe being on a motorcycle because it is not. The reason for the statictics you quoted was because there are much fewer bikes on the road then vehicles. I hear of at least 2 men dying on bikes every weekend. Its not like it use to be. the traffic everywhere has increased horrendously and it is now very unsafe to be on any kind of a cycle. I do not see it getting anything but worse. It does not matter how careful they are.
I just wanted to say, keep strong Northern New Brunswick. You guys have had more than your share of grief lately.I have visited there a couple of times and I found it to be a very beautiful, with some awesome people.Sorry it had to had your last ride Luc. RIP Thinking about you New Brunswick, love from Vancouver Island
k, actually to all the people who take this as a chase to take about fuckin motorcycles, actually shut the fuck up. he died, he is gone, and those people, the only thing i can wish for them is karma.
i live in vancouver, which makes me a huge canucks fan, it is crazy to think a player is gone, i feel so bad for friends and family . RIP
Wow, I never thought I'd see this on Perez. I found out today at school. I am a huge Canucks fan, and I was shocked. He won 2 gold medals for Canada, and he was one of the brighter up and comers. Ask any expert, this guy had a great career ahead of him. RIP Luc.
Rest in Peace Luc..you will be missed. Have a heavy heart today for Luc's family and friends.
Thank you Perez for mentioning Luc. I saw him play his last NHL game and he always played with so much heart. He was the future of the Canucks defense, and no matter how he died (to those who feel the need to comment on motorcycles, etc), this earth has lost an amazing talent. He will be missed greatly in Vancouver. RIP Luc, Lots of love to your family.
Fuck 'em - you wanna make an omelet you gotta break a few eggs
Wow Perez, I didn't know you were a fan.
Cheers for posting about Luc, he was a fine person on and off the ice. He brought some style and a lot of humour to the team. Canucks fans are pretty much in a state of shock at the moment, today has been brutal.
Thanks for taking the time to make a post for Luc.
Vman, what the hell does that mean? If it is disrespect anyhow to Luc, I say:
Shut the hell up, how would you feel if this was YOUR son, or YOUR brother, who was just beginning his dream.
wow. i didn't think luc's death would have been on here!
i am a fan of him. he had so much potential!
thank you perez for putting this on here!
i love you even more now.
RIP #28
This is SO sad. I can't believe this just happened today
RIP
RIP, Luc.
You were a great player.
The Canucks and fans will miss you!
As a major hockey fan, I was expecting this upcoming season to be Luc's big chance. Just a horrible tragedy, and like others said I was surprised to see this on your site, but very happy as hockey tends to get brushed aside by the American media. ockey players are quite possibly the most approachable, giving athletes in the world, and from myself and the rest of the Leaf Nation we send our deepest condolences to the Canucks organization and the Bourdon family.
Re: Corley – Couldnt have said it better. Thank you Perez.
ohmygosh i was so surprised to hear this O_O
vancouver canucks is my team!!!!!
and he was so young
rip luc bourdon
He looks like a manly manly hockey player, its always sad when someone so young leaves to earlie. Tragic!
RIP Luc…..thanks alot Perez for writing about this, i check ur site daily for pics of hot chicks and was really impressed that you included the Bourdon story…. now I'm not only a fan of the site but I'm now a fan of you man.
Can we please not reduce Luc Bourdon's tragic death at the age of 21 to personal opinions about the safety of motor vehicles.
rest in peace, luc bourdon ..
FUCKING TWAT! Glad he's dead. That's what you get for getting on a murdercycle. At least he won;t taint the gene pool now. IDIOT! Don't RIP!!!
Rest in peace !
Re: Carlie –
wow, show some respect
RIP Luuuuuuc #28
i was so sad when i found out =( LUC BOURDON R.I.P,
Such a tragedy and heartbreaking report. My thoughts and prayers are with him,his family and friends at this terrible time.
i do not like the Canucks at all since i am a diehard Oilers fan, however this is a TERRIBLE tragedy, especially to someone so young and with so much talent and potential. my condolences go out to his family and friends. RIP Luc, rest easy man. on behalf of Oilers fans, we will miss you.
Re: Carlie –
are you fuckin serious?? GET A FUCKIN HEART.
Re: Carlie – Wow! I have no words…Even if you are just trying to egg people on, you are a heartless coward and the lowest form of life. I would be really ashamed of myself if I were you. Your Mother must be so proud!
thanks for the respect perez
as a crazy hockey/canucks fan i def loved seeing luc in the world jrs and playing for the canucks
you were one of our top prospects..
RIP
Re: Carlie – wow, seriously, that's heartless, grow up. you should be ashamed of yourself..all of you idiots saying crap like this, that's to you too.
Re: Carlie –
you're sick
Re: sunshi – practically took the words right out of my mouth! sick people, hey?
r.i.p. - you were an amazing player in the making and really held your own when our blueline was completely wiped late in the season. you will be greatly missed and my heart is extended out to your family.
on a lighter note of the canucks downward spiral atm ..
there goes another draft year down the drain
Damn, he was hawt, and looks like Boone from "Lost"
♥
VictoriaRose
This is so sad:( It's hard to believe that he's gone… It's werid when someone you don't know dies and then you hear about it, it seems so unreal or not true although it is… so so sad… he will be missed greatly by all Canadian Hockey fans and all New Brunswickers… my thought go out to Luc's family, friends, Vancouver players, and staff
Perez…..Thank You
RIP LUC
this is so sad. =(
he's so yound and his future is so bring. a big loss for the canucks
i went to high school with him
Thats terribel news! So young too! My heart goes out to his family
Re: G – what the hell? good riddance? your such a heartless fuck….rip
I am from NB and watched Luc played at the Quebec Major Junior Level. He had a lot of potential and the crowds loved him yelling "Luuu….cc" every time he touched the puck. Thank you Perez for posting this notice. His untimely death has touched many.
p.s. - I quarantee you he was wearing a helmet - it is law here and something you never see someone on the highway without.
A very sad day for Canada, the hockey community, New Brunswick, Shippagan and the family and friends of Luc Bourdon. A very talented player I had the pleasure of watching play many times. A young man taken well before his time. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family & friends.
RIP Luc
So very sad. People get into accidents with motorcycles because of stupidity, either their own or the other driver. And as someone already pointed out, it doesn't matter what mode of transportation you're using when you collide with one of those big rigs…..no one survives. My heart goes out to his family and friends.
I am actually from Shippagan NB and I can tell you for a small town it hits everybody pretty hard. And for everyone making nasty comments ….all I can say is WoWW…such class!! And for everyone who thinks they know something, he was actually trying his new bike that he just bought…his girlfriend was following him behind when he caught some serious wind and the bike started jiggling only to loose control and hit a transport truck. It was not a pretty site with his girlfriend seeing absolutely everything. I can't imagine how that feels and how much it must hurt…
All my prayers are with his family and may you RIP
Re: Alice – Luc Bourdon was from Shippagan New Brunswick a small fishing community in Northern NB. My family is from there as well and everyone was so proud of him. He was a great ambassador for his region and for Maritimers. Such a young talent taken to soon. I remember watching him with the Moncton Wildcats and for Team Canada. Such a a shook to everyone on the east coast. You will be missed Luc! Life is too short and precious and we should take this as a sign to live it to the fullest because it could all be gone tomorrow.
I'm from pittsburgh, and a huge penguins fan. I remember watching Luc play and he had so much talant. Its so sad to see someone so young lose their life because people don't watch out for motorcyclists on the roads.
My thoughts and prayers go out to not only to his family and friends, but also his teammates who lost a great asset to their team.
Re: Alexis – In Canada, we have helmet laws. Hell, we even are required to wear a helmet when we're riding our bicycles.
I live in New Brunswick, Canada.
damn that sucks, he was on to a great future in the NHL, wow RIP LUC!
I looove the canucks and he was an extremely talented and amazing hockey player. As a hockey player myself i look up to people like him and its so sad to see these kinds of things happen to such young, strong people. RIP Bourdon
motorcycles are organ grinders…i know they are hot, but seriously, they are soo dangerous cuz people dont see them on the road…so sad, what a tragedy…
I Live in Vancouver and I'm a HUGE CANUCKS FAN and I'm so sad today, Luc was such a nice guy and so very young to have this happen to him, He will be missed by his family and fans so very much, RIP LUC BOURDON.
He had such a huge future ahead of him, what a poor guy only 21 years old!
…………..We Will All Miss You Luc……………..
xoxoxo
Re: Alexis –
It's law to wear a helmet in Canada.
Re: Alexis –
Sure he was wearing a helmet!!He hit a Tractor trailer asshole!!
I'm from northern New Brunswick and the highways there suck and are full of tractor trailers. It wouldn't have made a difference if he would have been in a car or on his motorcycle, he would not have had a chance. RIP.
To all the assholes on here, You don't deserve a response!! Don't respond eveyone that's what they want!!
RIP Luc!!
ANOTHER GAY ASS HOCKEY PLAYER FOR MY LAIR.
R.I.P LUC BOURDON
Thanks perez Luc was a great hockey player and every canuck fan will miss him.
Re: Alexis –
People get in car accidents everyday…. should people not ALLOWED to have cars either?? Stupid comment.
RIP
too bad Nonis didn't trade him to the Leafs when he had the chance.
if you knew Luc, you would know he would make a joke too. rip Luc, we miss you already and will wear #28 on our sleeves in your honor.
was the tractor trailer hurt bad??
Reste en paix mon tchum …..en toublira jamai!!!
Re: Alexis – I'm from New-Brunswick close to where Bourdon is from and as a matter effect, he was wearing an helmet! He was riding along the coast where the wind was blowing up to 75 km/h, he lost control of his bike and ran into a tractor trailer. Get the fact straight before making any comment
R.I.P luc, toughts and prayers to the family and friends
Re: maybe – Get over this you guys. He hit a tractor trailer, i dont care if you're in a car, suv or on a bike, you are more than likely not making it out alive. COMMON SENSE!! Plus use some COMMON SENSE and know that arguing about whether or not you would live depending on the type of transportation you are in/on. A young kid died here and his family will miss him incredibly. I have been a canucks fan for 23 years and cant remember anything like this happening to the franchise that caused so much sadness. He had unreal potential and will be missed! RIP Luuuuuuuuuc
Re: tome – you're a fucking idiot! who says that ya piece of shit!
Re: VictoriaRose –
Luc passed away and all you can say is he was hot, and not even spell it right? It's females like you(and other girls who have mentioned it's sad to see a good looking people die) who give ACTUAL female sports fans a bad name.
The hockey world lost an amazing hockey talent who had so much potential. I couldn't imagine what his family is going though right now. His girlfriend was even in a car behind him when it happened. My thoughts are with his family and friends.
You will be missed Luc RIP!
One of my friends and Forever Teamates. It was an honor to take the ice with you just 2 years back and win a Championship together and play against you in the playoffs just a few weeks back.. Ill always remember you, and may you rest in peace Bud.Your Teamate Pineault
Re: tome –
Shut up! How could you be so disrespectful?
How could anyone make jokes about someone's death, how would you like it if one of your friends or family members died in a tragic accident? Judging by your comment you probably would care. Ass.
I live 2 hrs away from him and I loved him to pieces. He was an amazing player for the wildcats and will be sadly missed by everyone around him
Re: Alexis – Its illegal and almost unheard of to drive a motorcycle without a helmet in New Brunswick. His death is a great loss to our community
Oh well, while it's sad, it's expeted. When you drive a motor cycle it's not if you crash, but when. Such a waste. I guess we all take chances every single day. It's a shame.
apparently I need to read the news more….as I live in new brunswick and am just hearing about this now - on here! very sad
Re: Alexis –
actually I'd say its a fair bet he was, as it is the law her ethat you have to. I've never seen anyone on the highway without them. the cops are pretty up on following the bikes
RIP heartbreaking to see young people die so tragically my condolences to the family.Truely was a wonderful young talent taken too soon.
Thanks for posting this Perez. Up here in British Columbia we are feeling this a lot.
RIP
Even if he was wearing a helmet, he would still have passed away. He hit it head on, there was nothing left of his bike and it looks like he finally rested under the back wheels.
It looked like a turn on a highway and I bet the bike stood up on him and he crossed lanes. More motorcycle training is necessary before handing out bike licenses.
So sad, he had his whole life in front of him.
RIP Luc You'll always be a Vancouver Canuck we'll never forget you.
he worked so hard for his dream and achieved it all to have it taken away way too soon.
he was a great hockey player.
