Old hasbeen model Lauren Hutton attacked Sex And The City's portrayal of promiscuous women AND blamed "gay writers" for creating the stereotype that single women are "sluts" on the Today Show Thursday!

SATC was based on writings by Candace Bushnell — a woman!!
AND, Hutton confessed she had never seen an episode of SATC but claimed it promoted the untrue myth that it's natural for women to be sexually promiscuous.
Lauren said, "It's written by guys, who happen to be gay, who are sluts. That's what I think. Let's face it most men are sluts. That's what testosterone is supposed to do. As a hunter, if you stayed alive after 30, nature wanted your genes out there. Women were just trying to get the best sperm to make a masterpiece. Any statement that claims to know what men and women "naturally" want or how they "naturally" are is itself informed by the norms of our patriarchal society. Any statement, then, that claims what men and women should or should not do (because it's supposedly "natural") is NOT feminist — instead it is constraining, often of women. Hutton's statement sounds more like socio-biology, which often "explains" the differences in male and female behavior that we see in our society today as "natural". Such explanations thereby justify men's promiscuity while condemning female promiscuity. I don't like SATC for a whole bunch of reasons (in the end it's just a modern version of the fairy tale that women's main goal in life is to find a man, which isn't entirely liberating for women), but one thing I love about it is that it shows women having sex when they want sex. Who's to say our (women's) desires and needs are any different than men's? In the realm of sex, I don't think mine are any different!
