Old hasbeen model Lauren Hutton attacked Sex And The City's portrayal of promiscuous women AND blamed "gay writers" for creating the stereotype that single women are "sluts" on the Today Show Thursday!

SATC was based on writings by Candace Bushnell — a woman!!
AND, Hutton confessed she had never seen an episode of SATC but claimed it promoted the untrue myth that it's natural for women to be sexually promiscuous.
Lauren said, "It's written by guys, who happen to be gay, who are sluts. That's what I think. Let's face it most men are sluts. That's what testosterone is supposed to do. As a hunter, if you stayed alive after 30, nature wanted your genes out there. Women were just trying to get the best sperm to make a masterpiece. You have a bunch a guys who are sluts, writing for women and telling them they are supposed to act like this."

I would have to agree with her. As much as I enjoy SATC, I don't necessarily relate to it as a single woman. They don't portray my (sex) life. That's not to say I don't love getting laid, I only mean I don't have sex with so many men during such a short duration.

I'm a big fan of SATC. But I agree with Lauren Hutton. I know the difference between TV fantasy and reality. My friends and I get together for brunch, but we don't spill 4-letter expletives during our conversations. I don't know any women who go around talking trash like that. I believe the male writers did go overboard with the profanity. By the way, the only character that I believe is a slut on SATC is Samantha. In real life, women like Samantha eventually implode from their own self destructive behavior. Having said that… SATC is a guilty pleasure that I enjoy watching and don’t take too seriously.

Becoming pregnant without a man to feed and protect the woman and the child would have been highly riskly behaviour in the past. It is only a theory, but think about it girls, even today, if you are going to have a child, would you pick the player to father it, or the guy you think will be there for you, and dare I say it, be monogamous?

Love the show but Lauren is right. The show is written by gay writers and reflects their sexual adventures. However, i think the show is liberating for women and obviously popular with them. I remember holding both my sons straight after they were born, and they were the happiest moments of my life.
