AND, Hutton confessed she had never seen an episode of SATC but claimed it promoted the untrue myth that it's natural for women to be sexually promiscuous.
Lauren said, "It's written by guys, who happen to be gay, who are sluts. That's what I think. Let's face it most men are sluts. That's what testosterone is supposed to do. It was based on her writing but one of the writers, according to the NY Times movie review says this: "the movie was written and directed by Michael Patrick King, one of the guiding lights and bright wits of the original series, based on Candace Bushnell’s newspaper columns and subsequent book."

She's absolutely right. I'm gay and I find it quite depressing that the majority of gay men put sex at the centre of their lives, and everything else revolves around it. Samantha couldn't be anything other than a gay man's creation.

Whenever I hear a part in the show where the kids are being directed to act disrespectful, I tell my kids that grown men/women wrote these scripts and are telling these kids what lines to say and how to act. I have to remind them that kids shouldn't be acting that way toward their parents, teachers, etc. What do these old men/women writers know about being a kid anyway? I have only begun watching reruns of SATC and found that the show was not an accurate representation of what my life was like back when I lived in the city and was single looking for love. I feel like the four female characters are individually unlikeable and I can't think of any single woman who acts like any of them that I know of. Finding out that the show is written by men possibly explains why I cannot connect to these characters. However, the show has its merits and is entertaining. I think most women are more discriminating when it comes to dating men and are far more likeable than the characters on SATC.

Um, actually Perez, Candy herself said that she NEVER identified with Samantha's character when the show was at it's peak and alluded to the same kind of things Hutton did. It got her in some hot water but to an extent, I have to agree. I was single in the city for quite a while and I never knew any girl who had as much sex (and as frequently) as these characters.
