That portion of her is a clip that they took from a different English Obama video several months ago… so I wouldn't exactly call her out on this - it's not like she did that for this video alone. If the latino person creating it wanted to use her clip then let it go!

Simple fact is, she was born in America, her father was born in america, and i think her grandfather also. She is American, born and raised. Her mother is French/dutch. Puerto Rico where YES the do speak English but Spanish is there first language and Yes Puerto Rico is is part of the U.S. hence the reason thier vote counts. What she said was that when her grandfather came to the US he tried to blend in and avoid racism by speaking English only and embraced American culture only. That side of her family was less in touch with their Latino heritage, which is sad. Alba never said that she hates Latinos or anything like that. The fact that she doesn't throw that fact out every time she breathes or doesn't put emphasis on words as verification of her background does not mean she is a self hating Latino.

I am 50 % hispanic, my father was born in Mexico, and I was born in US, and do not know how to speak Spanish. I know exactly where Jessica Alba is coming from… A true Cuban, or Mexican, or Salvadoran, etc is one who is actually born in that country and speaks the language and is versed in the countryside and traditions. I am NOT ashamed to be part hispanic, but I am also tired of being insulted for not knowing Spanish, and for not having ever visited Mexico.
