I laughed, I cried, overall I enjoyed it, but the movie didn't bring upon any new major revelations left unquestioned by the show. It simply revisited the characters that we already know, stirring the pot but not adding any new ingredients. I love SATC so much, but I think that the way they ended the actual show was perfect and they should have left it that way. NO SEQUELS PLEASE. Let the show bow out with dignity.

I went with my mom and sister in law and all three of us thought that it was amazing. I am so glad now that they waited four years to pick up the story line as it allowed for continued growth of each character. LOVE and FORGIVENESS are where it's at!!!!!!

Iv never watched the tv show and i probably wont be watching the film , but i think its amazing how woman are being so drawn to it , usually films headlined by women dont perform as well as films headlined by men … but early estimates are indicating that this film could open with huge numbers

Shallow and dumb. The TV show a gazillion times better.
Did not translate to big screen, the fun energy of the original is gone, the girls look haggard (except Kristin Davis) and there was something kind of desperate about the film. Like it was a parody of the series. And, it made me feel old.
Note to all women: Men were not put on earth to save and define us, fulfill our dreams of puffy wedding frocks, or be gawked at. And women are not here to thrive mainly on designer labels. The film is misrepresentative and unbalanced.

I don't know what the critics were talking about. The movie was perfect. It was so… perfect. The labels and product placement were not overdone, they were SEX AND THE CITY. The only slightly weak point was Jennifer Hudson: they couldn't have cast that role any worse.
Feh. I did enjoy but the TV show was a lot better. This did not have as much depth. The views of NYC are fabulous and the clothes beyond adjectives, but there were moments I genuinely cringed. What was with the screaming everytime the girls saw one another? It was like a bunch of 16 year olds.

kinda liked it, but there were a lot of things I also hated. WAY too depressing that chapter in mexico and why the hell is Carrie so rich in this movie? and WHY would she need an assistant? she is a writer who has a LOT of freetime and can spend her days anyway she wants too!

The only two complaints I have are as follows:
.
1) They shouldn't have changed the theme song, and Fergie's hip hop theme was absolute rubbish that had nothing to do with anything
and
2) The overkill of Smart Water product placement in the film was really distracting. I get the product placements for fashion houses (Chanel, Louis Vuitton, etc) and as a New Yorker, I even got the product placements for Manhattan Mini Storage (when New Yorkers move, we generally call Manhattan Mini Storage for a supply of boxes which they conveniently deliver to your apartment along with all your other packing needs).

But Smart Water? In the fashion week scene, there was a complimentary bottle on each empty chair along the runway, which was completely unnecessary. And it's not like Smart Water had anything to do with New York: while they're on vacation in another country, not only are bottles of Smart Water all over their breakfast tables, but when they order 4 margaritas, the waiter brings over a tray of 4 cocktails with a tall bottle of Smart Water sitting in the middle of it.

So, GREAT film, GREAT plot, GREAT acting, GREAT characters, even GREATER ending, but bad theme song and not very smart Smart Water product placements. C'est tout!

i feel robbed of a potentially good film. despite the occasional humourous moment it was terrible!

Good: acting (great), beautiful locations, jennifer hudson, charlotte, the forgiveness-es (which were mature and fair to the men), the characters had real-people bodies, Chris Noth is sooo yummy in a suit!, Charlotte's baby - wonderful

Overall grade C+.
Bad: (big problems): How fucking rich are these women? Everytime they went on a luxurious vacation or moved house or bought ridiculously expensive couture it made me connect with the film less, MAKEUP ON THE MEN IN THE CLOSEUPS! (or does big always wear mascara?), Not NEARLY as funny as the show. Didn't laugh much other than when Charlotte crapped her pants (and that was a cheap laugh), the film didn't dealt with "labels" but didn't deal with any big picture kind of stuff other than cheating and weddings. And finally, Jennifer Hudson became the black angel stereotype where black people's sole role is to fix white people's problems and then bugger off. (Will Smith in Legend of Bagger Vance, Michael Clarke Duncan in Green Mile, Don Cheadle in Family Man)
it was AMAZING!!! I re-read some of the negative reviews after I saw it and COMPLETELY disagreed. I can't wait to see the movie many many more times.

Bad (small picture): Big has NO male friends at the wedding?, anthony and stanford??? how does mario cantone have more lines than stanford? and based on the show history they would NOT be together, Samantha leaving Smith Jarrod? the sequel will be her trying to get back together with him - and she made no other female friends in Los Angeles?, Starbucks product placement? lame!, Candace Bergen in only one scene?, They left Berger out of the opening montage of boyfriends

OVERALL - the TV show was able to pull very interesting and funny and true moments out of a lot of minutae and that wasn't anywhere to be found in the film. But getting back into their world was great and I think a show focusing on ONE city again would make a much better watch)
Fantastic. It was like seeing the episodes for the first time, that nostalgic feeling. All 200 of us girls in the cinema were like "oooh" and "aaahhh" and "aaw". And in the end we gave it a well deserved round of applause. Brilliant.

You know I had heard about the boom microphone thing way before I saw the movie, and I was looking for them randomly throughout the flick, I really didnt see anything. I quickly became engrossed in the movie so I may have overlooked it. Anyway, I think what the writers were going for was to make sure that the fans of the series were happy with the outcome. I cried..well, alot. I think anyone who didnt enjoy the series, or who didnt watch it are at a disadvantage, since the main point was to bring back these characters that the superfans became so attached too. I loved it.

It WAS REALLY ANNOYING to see the boom mic. I know people said that it's all about the projectionist, hard to believe that problem at the premerie was only the projectionist part and not somehow the film's editing. It was hard to take the seriousness of a scene when you see the mic hanging there. But BESIDE THAT I LOVED IT!
Loves it! Went and saw the 12:01 showing, left wanting more. All the critics who are giving it negative reviews are not true fans of the show or Candace Bushnell and only saw the movie cuz its their job.
I think I was looking too hard for the microphones, totally didn't peep them, I was focused. But I did peep MiMi's 2 seconds in the film. AbFab!
