SJPeePee is Peeved!

Filed under: Fashion Smashion > Sarah Jessica Parker

This is very shady!

Nina Nina Ricci designer Olivier Theyskens flat-out lied to Sarah Jessica Parker.

The Sex & The City star wore his dress (above) to the New York premiere of the film this week and she and her stylist asked if anyone had ever wore the dress before and been photographed in it.

Theyskens assured Parker no on both accounts.

Well, he fucking lied - twice!

Throngs of paparazzi photographed Lindsay Lohan wearing that outfit a few months ago at a commercial shoot. And, making this even worse, socialite Lauren (Davis) Santo Domingo accompanied Olivier to the Met's Costume Institute Gala in May and was also photographed wearing that dress.

Parker spoke to The New York Times about the dress fiasco.

She says:

“In the big picture, this is not important, but there is a relationship between the entertainment industry and fashion. We’ve watched sales dwindle and we’ve watched people be less inclined to spend money on clothes.”

To Parker, these are reasons for companies to take particular care with their relationships. “Look, my affection for the dress hasn’t changed,” she said, “but what they did was so short-sighted. It’s just unethical and disappointing that they would allow the dress to be worn again.”

Parker says she remarked to Theyskens during the fitting that she was surprised the dress hadn’t been worn before. He assured her it hadn’t.

“He didn’t say, ‘Well, actually I just escorted Lauren down the red carpet at the Met.’ ” said Parker, adding, “I just wish it had been handled differently and they had been straight about it.”

Tisk tisk.

We're on team SJPeePee on this one.

Shame on you Olivier Theyskens and everyone at Nina Ricci.

We have a feeling she's not gonna be wearing any of your dresses ever again!

Oh my gawd, these people are so fucking petty. SO the dress had been wore before, big fucking deal. Was it the same dress? Did they fail to have it dry-cleaned afterwards? Now that would be gross. But if they are just to fucking vain to wear a dress someone else has wore then that makes me want to fucking puke. IMO, it doesn't matter who has worn the dress, what matters is WHO WEARS IT BEST! And you people say this woman is secure in how she looks–doesn't sound like it!

Um hello her stylist should be axed!!! I am a stylist myself and I ALWAYS check getty and wire image to see if anyone is photographed in any look I select for clients. Damn… that is just common sense. I never rely on the designer to tell me.

Re: dee – UH well have any of you ever looked in a gossip magazine when they do those "COPYCAT!!" articles?? They'd TEAR HER APART for being the fashion icon she is, and wearing a dress after TWO people already did, and she KNOWS it!!!! If she wants to keep her fashionable, trendsetter status as a celebrity, she's GOTTA ask these questions, she HAS to make sure she's ORIGINAL… or why would anyone look up to her as an icon???? This is her VERY important to her CAREER. I'd feel the same way.

    105

    ah well….

the dress wasn't all that attractive to begin with.
the shape of it is fine…however, the color of it
looks like a used piece of aluminum foil that was
    used to steam rice!

SJP could have (and will do) MUCH better in her
    fashion choices.

my only genuine concern is SJP may have
contracted and STD if Lindsay wore that
    hideous dress.

or perhaps, the reason the dress looks like a
used piece of dirty tin foil is due all of Lindsay
    Lo-Lifes crack cocaine sweat!

    BLEGH!

All you people saying shit like "oh there are dire things happening in the world, how dare she complain about something as trivial as this blah blah blah." This is fucking hollywood. We're not talking about SJP whining about this while in Africa. She rightfully complained about it for a HOLLYWOOD event. And you're a fucking hyprocrite commenting on it saying how she's being shallow. You are visiting a fucking gossip site. Why don't you go out and do something rather than commenting on a GOSSIP site?

    110

Pathetic! If fashion really is art, then why should a (very expensive designer) dress only be worn once? Art is there to be admired…and it should be able to be admired more than just once. Moreover, SJP is such a consumerism-pushing hog, it makes me sick! I love SATC, but the NY Times gets it right when they say that it's gone way over the top. It's not about being loyal to the fans anymore - it's now only about getting the fans' box office $$ and pushing those fans to shop, shop, shop and buy labels that most of us can't afford.

WHO THE HELL CARES. If she was so into fashion, wouldn't she or her stylist have seen it being worn before. It wasn't just worn once, it was worn TWICE. So what if it is a hand me down? She is lucky to be given the opportunity to dress up in pretty clothes, prance around the world promoting a movie that will make her mega rich (as if she isn't already rich enough).

I don't really understand her first statement either… “In the big picture, this is not important, but there is a relationship between the entertainment industry and fashion. We’ve watched sales dwindle and we’ve watched people be less inclined to spend money on clothes.”

She gets her clothes for free and her son wears hand me downs!!! If she thinks people are going to buy the dress because they saw her wearing it on a red carpet, she is delusional. Where would any normal person wear this kind of dress???

Here here for the dude who wanted his dress to be worn to the SATC premier. And he got away with it too.

She should worry about the black eye liner before that raggedy dress. The appearance of beady crossed eyes do not add to the allure of her horse hair and teeth, large moley chin and veined emaciated body. Just a thought. There was one scene in the new movie where she didn't look absolutely foul so it can be done. Poor thing.

  25. Alexia says – reply to this

    125

She herself acknoweldges that "in the big picture, this is not important". It's the fact that they lied to her. Image is everything in this industry so don't start acting like it isn't.

I would be pissed if I went to a shop and asked "Is this a one of a kind dress?" and got told "Yes" only to find out that 2 other dresses had been made (which is what this is like to a "normal" shopper). And I'm not someone who's going to have millions of people judging my fashion choices for weeks to come. People should tell the truth.

    Re: susieq
SJP should have had the 'class and emotional security' to laugh it off …but she made a public press statement that puts her in the same league as Sharon Stones China Bad Karma comments.

The designer obviously recycled the dress with thought. The thought being that this almost talented bitches want FREE multi thousand dollar hand made dress, don't forget the word FREE. Well, they gave her the one they give to all the bitches. The same one.

And you know what its damn funny. And I bet the designer is laughing his/her ass off. So are all the staff that had to hand sew the item.

  29. Soren says – reply to this

    129

Very well-said. First thing out of her mouth was that this is not important. But, then she eloquently explains why it was inappropriate in the entertainment / fashion context. I find her comments always respectful and appropriate, thoughtworthy and intelligent. Like when responding to people's criticism of her looks or having been voted least attractive, she said she doesn't find herself that attractive, either, however in the bigger scheme of things, why are people who don't look perfect condemned in such a hateful way. She's absolutely right. Thank GOD she has a solid backbone and moral compass, because the scrutiny she's placed under would be utterly unbearable for most. She'll always have my support, and adoration as a human being and a member of the opposite sex.

Re: horse – Do you disagree that it is unethical to straight up LIE for personal gain? Perhaps you should rethink your understanding of the word. And, FYI, please recall the FIRST thing she said is that it is unimportant. She was ASKED her thoughts on it, and the FIRST and MAIN point was that it was NOT important. Period. However, to address the issue, she intelligently explained the very real relationship between the entertainment industry and the fashion industry. She's absolutely correct. And, in that or any other context, straight up lying for selfish, personal, unnecessary gain is WRONG.

This incorporates everything that is wrong with America. The cult of personality, wretched excess, incredible self-centeredness and just plain bad behavior. The fact that any one of yyou should care about this is a symptom of the bigger problem. We have truly lost our way. Instead of counting the incredible blessing of making it to the top of your game, your concerned about a fucking dress. IT'S A DRESS. I am so sick of this obsession in this country with designers which lead to over the top prices which leads to little girls begging their mommies for things they can't afford. What does that do to their lives? I have a friend who has a little sister who hasn't finished school, has no marketable skills and she says she doesn't worry because she's PRETTY. Huh? Where do you think she learned that? Yea, we've come a long way, baby.

    147

READ what she said. Lets leave the problems of the world, war,and starving children out this. What she said does not equal how Sharon Stone went off talking dribble about things she does not know. Totally different subjects. What SJP said, while addressing those issues in so many words,is that this concerns Hollywood and the fashion industry.
The point here is that the desginer, as all do, want their design to be worn to these events once, for their own name and reputation. I am sure it was a loaner .SJP did not buy it. A lawusit is too extreme and frivilous, but a public apology is in order. This is just business of Hollywood and Fashion Industry. Actually ,saying this to the press really is bad for celeb business for Theysken/Nina Ricci. Lie. Bad track record.
Also, checkout The DevilWears Prada. FashionIndustry like health care, automoblie sales, education , entertainment, etc. are all important in our world.

Now if SJP was at a personal event , something she is doing on her own, lets say at the UN , for something is doing on her own, like Unicef, No Aids Day, etc., and she bi tched and moaned about her clothes…hey, you can question her real motive. This was a Hollywood/Fashion event for something that was not her own personal event. "In the grand scheme of things , it is not important ,….but even at the fitting he assured me it was neverr worn…"

    To Retard "R" #64
Two seasons ago means, spring 2008. You probably (almost surely) don't know this, but the winter collections are out. So let me help you here, winter and fall make TWO seasons, we are currently in the summer (at least the northern hemisphere is), so not counting summer, this dress is TWO seasons old. Now, given the stupidity that R exhibited in his/her post, I have a quote for you: "After months of anticipation, the spring Nina Ricci campaign pictures have leaked. Our pick for Fashion Week's model of the week Karlie Kloss and one to watch Courtney Smerski are the lucky girls, wearing gorgeous metallic gowns and soft knits offset by splashy pink shadows. The photos, shot by Mario Sorrenti, are gorgeous and, more important, nicely capture Theysken’s latest disheveled-glamour theme. —Kendall Herbst "
So, metallic gowns = Nina ricci SPRING 2008.
Remember, we're in the summer, the winter collection is out, do your math.

And i understand she has the right to be upset about the lying thing but then again if you look at the big picture celebs put out clothing lines everyday and millions of "normal" people wear the same thing thousands of times a day. Are they saying celebs are bigger and better than us? Just because the can wear something that cost billions of dollars once, and then throw it in the fire in their backyard? Truth is were all basically the same. We were made with the same "stuff" and by the same person. Only difference is color and in many occasions that can be simuliar with others. Color doesnt define a person. And as for that slut in the city i hope she burns in hell.

who CARES?? there are sooo many more important things in the world. did she really think she had to release a statement saying 'it couldve been dealt with better' and did Perez actually have to post this? i realize im being completely hypocritical by patronizing his site, but certainly not to that extent. so effing shallow.

This is so shallow. Someone wore the dress. And that is your biggest problem? Spoiled and insensitive to the rest of the world.

I, for one, will be glad when this whole "Sex and the City"movie hoopla will be over in a few weeks. I have NO desire to see this over rated movie. And I am a female, too!!

SJP was not stuck up at all, the Nina Ricci people were completely unprofessional. I agree she shouldn't wear any of their dresses ever again.

COME ON, WHY SHOULD A DRESS ONLY BE WORN ONCE. REALLY, HOW NICE TO BE ABLE TO AFFORD TO WEAR A DRESS ONCE. FUCK OFF HOLLYWOOD, YOU ALL SHOULD PAY US TO SEE YOUR MOVIES AND LISTEN TO YOUR MUSIC, BUT INSTEAD, WE HAVE TO HEAR YOUR BULLSHIT THAT A DRESS THAT PROBALLY COSTS MORE THAT I MAKE IN INCOME IN 3 YEARS ONLY GETS WORN ONCE. THAT IS WHY I DON'T GO TO MOVIES ANYMORE. ALL YOU ACTORS AND ACTRESSES SUCK DICK

#175 is totally right. Olivier Theyskins is an intensely brilliant designer. People won't stop wanting his stuff after this.

It's not his job to keep track of who's worn what, it's his job to continue being brilliant. And he will, because he is freaking awesome.

I think I wore that dress to Denny's in mid-May….THOSE BASTARDS!!! They told me it had never been worn before! Seriously folks… I wonder how I'm supposed to afford gas and groceries these days and hollywood is concerned about a katrillion dollar dress worn more than once.

WOW. I wish that the biggest problem in my life was that I wore a 15-20,000 dollar dress that had been worn before.
So much money and ink and time is wasted on that horse faced ungrateful girl.
SHUT UP>It is not a fiasco. It isn't a blip a the radar of what matters. Ugh

I just wanted to say SJP's perfume stinks. It's not related to the topic….but, I just can't believe how bad it smells ! There was so much hype about "Lovely" and I thought it would smell great so I sprayed on some from a tester and it smelled like rheumatism linament that my grandfather used. I went around for the rest of the day stinking to the high heavens!
I can't believe she makes millions from a "perfume" that smells like my grandfather on a bad day !

Give me a fucking break. Do we really care about this shit? America is so fucked. We have people living on 80 cents a day and we give a shit about celebrity and a stupid dress. Fashion is stupid and our society is fucked.

    UN-ETHICAL?

Yes, wearing a dress twice ranks right up there with AIDS, HOMELESSNESS AND POVERTY.
