A sequel to Sex & The City is already being planned!
The film was the biggest debut by an R-rated, female-centric movie ever.
It took in $55.7 million in the U.S. this weekend.

I do not know anything about the 98 of you fine people who have offered mostly fine comments about this-mostly horrid movie,however,I need to say another of its kind would not get my 9$. I know there is considerable history attatched to the series etc,but the movie was very lame-and I am surprised that more people are not leaving these kind of frank comments.But,to each their own-If everyone thinks it was great then so be it.
TV is dead but this movie is not far behind- regardless of the millions of $ it garnered.The hype was much ado about nothing.
I LOVE sex and the city, but a sequel makes me nervous. I think it takes away from how special making a movie was in the first place. But hey, if they think they can do an amazing job like they did with the first movie, then bring it on - i'll be seeing the 2nd movie regardless.
Didn't Iron Man do better than that in it's first weekend?
hopefully they'll do a better job in shooting the film, post production and editing! For Goodness sakes leave the friggin microphones out of the picture, would you!

5. More Stanford, no new faces like Kim Hudson, more scenes with all 4 girls
I thought the spark was missing from the movie -
It wasn't awful by any means but the characters
were off and it felt like something was missing..
A sequel would not be wise - they should have
stayed on TV for another few seasons and then
just did ONE movie.. Ah well money money money

Carrie and Big got married so she got her happy ending.. dont really know what other direction the writers could go without pissing us women off by Big and Carrie splitting up…Steve was already a fucking screwup with what he did and Miranda forgave him so where would that go?? Charlotte has her happy ending… Only one that really didnt have a happy ending was Samantha and (Miranda kinda.. she forgave him but that sure dont me she forgetting!)I still cant believe Steve did that shit I woulda cut that motherfuckers dick off!!! well anywayz I sure hope the sequel is worth it!

The sequel needs to have a happy ending for Samantha! Carrie Charlotte and Miranda (kinda) got theri happy endings… the sequel needs to really fit and be a good script or i'll be disappointed!
OMG, I can't believe that they had Carrie marry Big, that was so lame!!! It made no sense to me. Love Charlotte's life, it's happy so yeah! Samantha's was lame as well, what, she couldn't cheat on Smith so the only other option was to leave…no working on it nothing. Miranda was worked through her stuff and it was all logical etc. So the big disappointment was the Carrie and Samantha story line. WTF, big city girl marries the guy that jilts her. She certainly never behaved like the bridezillas, shocked that she would 'settle' for Big.

I hope that they do not make a sequel because being the HUGE fan that I am of the Sex and the City series I saw the movie today and was VERY disappointed. It's like the writers just gave up and used as much film as they could to make a movie. It was 2hours and 15minutes to long!! There was a lot in the movie that should have been cut out. The show was so good and so well written and for someone who is such a big fan of the show I was so heartbroken and disappointed and how the movie was written and put together, they could have put a little more effort into it.
Great movie……….I love the show, I could hardly wait for the movie and it was the best movie I have seen in a long time. These women are amazing!!!!!!!! Funny, sexy, to the point, I LOVE IT!!! I hope they bring more!!!!!!!!!!!!
First off, the people who said it was kick ass need taste. The movie was okay and could have been a whole lot worse but with the stupid product placement and the the predictable storyline, it's not by far the best "chick flick" ever. The Jennifer Hudson character was unnecessary. Anthony and Stanford, especially Stanny, were underused and the whole Steve-Miranda storyline went on Forrreevvver and longer than the Carrie/Big storyline which doesn't make sense. And I'm soooooo tired of how they can make up for the crap Big has done to Carrie with 5 minute sex. Coommmmmmmmme onnnn!! I'm just saying they could have done a lot more with the whole Carrie/Big dynamic. And what are they going to do with a sequel?? Carrie got Big. We don't need to see Carrie, at the ripe ol' age of 50, have a baby. Come on Big will be like 70. Give me a break!

A sequel is a HUGE mistake. The SATC movie only banked these numbers because it was a lark, an encore to the series, if you will. The actresses are already too aged. The series was based on their youth, which they no longer have. It's time to take off their Manolo Blahniks, and have a toast to what was - and is no more.

Regarding the mics/boom in the shots, that is a mistake that happens while actually filming. It cannot be "edited" out of the frame later. It's in the shot. The camera department is responsible for that mistake.

THE MOVIE WAS SOOOOO WACK. IT WAS A DRAWN OUT DULL EPISODE OF THE SHOW. I HATED IT. I used to like the show cuz of its fast pace and Carrie's narration throughout the show. But this movie hardly had her narration and it was a total bore of her going through depression after a break up. WHAT ELSE IS NEW??!?! Oh yeah, and how the men in these women's lives are a "saint" who happens to make stupid mistakes that should be FORGIVEN. Don't get me wrong, I do agree forgiveness is a good thing to do, but that does not necessarily mean you have to run back to that guy. IT ONLY SUPPORTS THE THOUGHT IN ALL SINGLE WOMEN'S MINDS THAT WHEN THEY REACH THAT AGE, THEY REALLY NEED TO HANG ON TO WHAT THEY GOT AND SETTLE!!! IT'S AN OUTRAGE. I HATED Carrie's advice on Miranda to not THINK but to FEEL when she should make that important decision. IT'S BULL that many single woman out there will walk away from watching this movie and thinking that they made a mistake in NOT SETTLING. "Mr.Big" and "Steve" kind of guys are dumbasses that people should not settle for.

only beef with the film was carrie and Big still getting married after all that. The show was good because it was real. and in real life its not always happily ever after. And Also more emphasis should have been on the other characters as well. But Sam did leave her boy toy so i guess they even out…
You know, as soon as we left the movie.. me and all my girlfriends decided that a sequel will NOT be needed. The movie was PERFECT for closure to all its fans. What more do we want? They all ended up happy!! Creating a sequel will just be tragged! Im not sure what kind of storyline they will come up with. I was EXTREMELY statisfied.
I think a sequel is unecessary, there was closure. i must say that i was impressed and absolutely loved the movie(bought my tix a week early, and yes the hell i did). it was everything i hoped it would be and everthing i wanted it to be!

That is sooo true! I was wondering what was missing from the movie…it was Carrie's narration! Anyways, the movie plays into women's stupidity. Big would never marry Carrie because she is his dispensable whore. But I guess ppl are more into fairy tale rather than real life. SATC = OVERRATED!!!!

Here are my sequel idea's PART 1 and let me warn you, they are HOT!
1. Anthony is diagnosed with HIV…and this surprisingly brings him and Standford closer together, and Charlotte in honor of her dear friend becomes an advocate for HIV awareness in NYC, causing a major shift in public awareness! Charlotte will plan a major art gala and fundraiser to raise the most profit ever heard of for HIV awareness and prevention, making her a NYC legend in her own right! Major celebs will be involved in fundraiser..this will attach big names to the movie and soundtrack.
2. Carrie and Big are very happy..until Carrie suspects that Big may be having an affair with his new assistant, Carrie then sets off to discover the truth, never letting on to Big of her insecurities. This will be more about Carrie being confident in herself than about confronting Big…..And then Carrie will discover she is pregnant, after she thought she could not concieve….Carrie will toy with the idea of being divorced, single and a baby mama!! (Oh, this is good folks)

3. Miranda makes a major decision to leave her law firm after encountering sexism or sexual harrassment…and decides to strike out on gold, heading her own law firm constituting of NYC finest female legal representation. Steve's mother passes away, leaving a major life insurance policy….the money is a substantial amount that will allow them to move BACK to Manhattan!!! Miranda wants the move, Steve does not…Steve wants to open another business! Who will wear the pants this time?
Samantha finds herself in an unfamiliar territory. She is second guessing some of the decisions she has made and in the midst of Carrie's dilemma, she encourages Carrie to put her marriage first, NOT her career. Meanwhile Samantha and Smith have a healthy friendship inspite of Samantha's decision to go solo, will Smith's NEW lady…who is stunning and successful…upstage the love he once held for Samantha? Will this new relationship intervere with Samantha's ability to still be Smith's manager? Will Samantha find new love or realize the love she had is as good as it get's….or remain a free spirit?

Charlotte and Harry's relationship is every bit of the fairytale until Charlotte is losing herself in the planning of NYC biggest event ever. Charlotte is on the brink of depression, will she rediscover her former single self…will her family be able to pull her out? Or will Charlotte make a dicision that will stun everyone?
Aidan and Carrie will find themselves in a new place, both of their lives have changed dramatically…..will they rekindle old feelings? Will Aidan be the one when no one else is standing? Or will a new friendship bloom amongst Big, Aidan and Carrie???
Lastly all the girls will encounter atleast a few or their ex's in their newly changed lives…how will they rebound???

I LOVE-LOVE-LOVED this movie - albeit a sequel isn't really needed. But I do have to say that I cried 4 times - 4! I only cried once in Pretty Woman, Beaches and Steel Magnolias! And as for the "editing" blips - sit up towards the front, not the back - You TOTALLY won't notice- I didn't! Plus you get an up close and personal look at some of them yummy's they sport around NYC!
