I believe the reason why many people (me included) are somewhat shocked by Perez's "separated at birth" post today isn't the comparison itself, it is the utter lack of respect Perez demonstrated yesterday, when he wrote about Yves Saint-Laurent's death.
Look back, at the end of his post announcing the designer's death, the usual "our thoughts and prayers go to the family" was missing.
Were Victoria Beckham/Nicole Richie/Paris Hilton to die tomorrow (be still my heart, that thought is just to exciting), Perez would write "our thoughts and prayers etc". But for one of the greatest artists of the twentieth century… He couldn't be bothered. That is a great lack of respect and of the one thing YSL was all about : class.
I wouldn't mind if I were to find out that Perez doesn't care for YSL at all (actually, it wouldn't surprise me, given the fact that Perez is about as subtle and educated as a pile of bricks), but then why did he write about the man's death if he (Perez) couldn't even pay him (YSL) the respect he (Perez) "copies and pastes" to all the others ?

Nobody will remember Perez/Victoria Beckham/Nicole Richie/Paris Hilton in 100 years whereas YSL will still be famous and respected synonymous of class and beauty Perez lacks both assets.
