Good news for Sen. Edward M. Kennedy and his family.
The surgery Kennedy had today was a success, and according to his rep, the doctors said they accomplished their goals during the six hour operation.
Dr. Matthew Ewend, neurosurgery chief at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, said "Many of us believe that the more you get out, the next treatments, whether they be radiation or chemotherapy, have a better chance of working because there's less tumor there to fight."
The surgeons attempted to remove as much of the tumor as possible, trying not to risk the possibility of affecting the brain's function for movement and speech too much.
Congrats for the successful surgery.
Let's hope he has a speedy recovery.

One of the most liberal members of Congress. AND crosses the aisle to broker compromises with conservatives for the good of all. Kennedy's (despite their philandering and shady relationships with women) have always been the most forward-looking statesmen in the country. I always wanted JFK, Jr. to be president. But some things just aren't meant to be. We'll still have to wait for a whole generation to die off before someone that progressive will ever be elected.

God, I wished I was as perfect as the people who post here–and just glad my whole life wasn't blown up and distorted in the tabloids so tiny minded ass holes could wish me dead.
Kate, I'm not perfect by any means. But I've never gotten drunk, driven off a bridge and left someone to die in my car while I swam to safety. If hell froze over and I did decide to engage in that sort of thing, I would have made sure I'd gotten help so that my terrified, frightened passenger didn't die while I went home and slept it off. Murder is murder, no matter how many years have gone by.
He's going to croak soon. He hasn't got a chance against that kind of cancer.

Why does everyone forget that this man has done some horrible things and wasn't such a good person always??? Yes he had a sickness, but no excuse to crash your car and leave the woman in it to die in the lake you drove your car into!!! Her family and her death are forgotten and he lives on as a hero. He's done some horrible things in his life, though I won't be so brazen to say "karma",don't believe in it- just like I don't believe our judicial system believes in justice. You have the name Kennedy and you can do just about anything and still smell like a rose in this country.
