Beyonce's little sister, Solange, is coming out with a new album, and the first single, I Decided, is unlike anything the elder Knowles has done.
And, it's very different from everything else on the radio right now.
Smart!
I Decided is a slow to mid-tempo jam reminiscent of the girl group Motown era, and the video for the single reflects that very well.
It's cool, chill-out music for the summer. Something to listen to by the pool!

I couldn't get through it…. too many genres of music combined - it was distracting. I like her voice though.

The song is awful. Not something I could stand to listen to for more than a few seconds and I didn't. As for the style, am I the only one who thinks it's totally ripping off Amy Winehouse? And not very well I might add.

This song, along with it's video, is absolute garbage.
There isn't an original sound or image in the whole production.
I don't think her voice is smooth enough to handle this song. And the piano doesn't blend into the song well. It just goes "DON'T LISTEN TO HER VOICE. LISTEN TO THIS PINGING NOISE IN THE BACKGROUND." And I agree that it's too repetitive to be this long.

check Solange out, trying to be the drug-free Amy Winehouse… I already like it better than anything Beyonce has done… it's more original. Also, her voice isn't as annoying (nasaly) as Beyonce's.
After so many attempts, I think that she finally got it right! I totally enjoyed the song and video and am very proud of Solange.

You're late. This has already been circulating for 2-3 months or so- primarily in southern US states on the mix circuit, and naturally, in insider music circles in the EU & US. Nice old skool homage 60's style motown handclap/syncopation, with a nod to classic late 70's style Minnie Ripperton/ Richard Rudolph uptempo arrangements. Nice to see the young kids giving a respectful nod to their musical hertitage. The rest of the record is just about pleasant enough too, in all honesty. This young lady did a good job. Excellent track! Solange can really sing, people will automatically try to bring her down with the lame disses because of who her sister is and their dislike of her family but she's taken risks that no one else in her genre and age group is and that should be applauded. Kudos to Perez for going against the status quo, and giving an objective write-up.

How can you all compare her to Amy Winehouse and say she is trying to knock her style when they are sampling retro music…which artists like Raphaal Saadiq and Cee-lo have been doing for over 10 years now.
