Beyonce's little sister, Solange, is coming out with a new album, and the first single, I Decided, is unlike anything the elder Knowles has done.
And, it's very different from everything else on the radio right now.
Smart!
I Decided is a slow to mid-tempo jam reminiscent of the girl group Motown era, and the video for the single reflects that very well.
It's cool, chill-out music for the summer. Something to listen to by the pool!

This sucks and so does she!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Enough from the Knowles family and enough of all entertainers trying to make a statement. It's blatent pandering. The song has NOTHING to do with the statement that is trying to be made in the video. TYPICAL!

i can't believe this, but i like it. i think it's a good direction for her. she definitely doesn't have that whole beyonce style, but she's got a cooler, more alternative, spunkier voice. it's like a classed up macy gray, and it's competitive with all that hipster stuff that's been coming out of england, lately. she should definitely follow this slightly eclectic path.

Am I missing something? I don't hear any instruments other than a piano and a tamborine. Sure, they show a drummer and guitars, but you sure don't hear them in the production. I agree she's got a great voice, but musically the song is a mess.

I hear this all the time on my cable radio, didn't know who it was. She sings so much BETTER than Beyonce, the video is a great era piece for the theme, nicely done.

Love the video, very cool, but the song grates on my nerves. That clapping is like nails on a chalkboard. I had to stop it and once I did, my ears were like, Ahhh, THANK YOU!! The clapping, the pinging, all too much.

I love the mellow sound. The video is awesome, kinda reminds me of snoop's sexual eruption, lol. I think it's way better than what she did years ago, good thing she went away for a while so she could come back with this. Her voice doesn't sound as 60s-ish as the song progresses which is nice.
Solange didn't copy Amy drunkhouse! Amy copied the 60s girlbands for her last album and before that she copied erykah badu for her first album. The 60s sound doesn't belong to Amy, so technically theyre both copy cats!
I think it is a really good song. I do not believe it will be over played like B's music. At least she is not rolling her fat ass all over the ground like some big sister does.

Loved the song! Solange is a beautiful young lady. Hope they don't change her to look white like Beyonce. Natural is beautiful avoid the blond extensions and keep your nose. I will buy the cd.

I guess since Amy Winehouse is going to be dead in a few months its not quite copying her style. More like, "ready to fill the void"
I really wanted to like it (even though I innately dislike anyone with the last name "knowles"), and I thought her voice sounded pretty good. But the beat didn't exactly fit with the melody, and it just sounded too forced and contrived (but not "good"). Maybe if they remix it…???
Sorry but there is much better and way more innovative, cutting edge music out there. She only gets promoed because of her sister and her dad. The back tracking on this song is so raw and paired down. The track needs serious work.

That's exactly what I thought when I first heard it but with slightly more modern production values and more bubblegum lyrics than the much edgier, 'brills' Amy W. Back to Black is a timeless album and this is disposable pop.
I still like it though. Like Perez said, a good summertime listen while lounging by the pool or beach.

Finally, someone decides to get back to the good ole days. This is definitely a through-back to the Motown era, I might add the best of the best from 1960s to 1970s. I am 50 and I hate the new music and still listen to the old stuff. What happened to the Marvin Gaye's, Piercy Sledge, Al Green, Chi-lites, Stylistics, 4 Tops. These young kids just think this shit they play now sets the mood to grind, we invented the grind and it started with the Motown Sound. Bring it back somebody.
