Beyonce's little sister, Solange, is coming out with a new album, and the first single, I Decided, is unlike anything the elder Knowles has done.
And, it's very different from everything else on the radio right now.
Smart!
I Decided is a slow to mid-tempo jam reminiscent of the girl group Motown era, and the video for the single reflects that very well.
It's cool, chill-out music for the summer. Something to listen to by the pool!

Garbage! Her voice sucks, she apparently lost out to her sister in the looks department, and she's a nasty whore who was pregnant by 17 married and divorced before she was 19…please she's just riding the coat tails of her big sister, she's completely talentless!!
This sucks Perez, how much are you being paid to promote it? When are we going to stop seeing every boring pop star's sister putting out an album regardless of their lack of talent? Enough already!

I hope this isn't the reason for the change in music styling, but these Hollywood fathers are very shrewd now.
Some of you on here are real….might I say, STUPID! Amy Winehouse, Duffy, and other acts who are doing this 60's music got their inspiration FROM MOTOWN. None of them whores created any of it! I think it's bad when many of you try to downplay someone's talent to make others seem bigger. Not liking the song is one thing but saying mean spirited stuff is another. You all have to realize that music is in a state of peril. Everything you hear is about sex, drugs, and who's doing who. Give props when it's due…Solange isn't one of these random R&B chicks talking about Touching Their Bodies or being Damaged! Embrace talent when you see it….well I forgot, many of you are blind!

All I have to say is wow!!… I found myself having to blink twice to make sure that I was looking at Solange and not Beyonce. I like the song. I'm not head over heels for it but it is something that I would put on my ipod. I hear a little bit of an Erykah Badu influence.

#253 her follow-up single is called "Sandcastle Disco" it's on youtube, I think it'll actually be a bigger hit for her than this song, it's like the ultimate feel good song. I like this one too but Sandcastle Disco is a million times better.

I am so sick and tired of people comparing anyone with a Mowtown /Phil Spector/Stax sound to Amy Winehouse or Duffy. These two women DID NOT INVENT THIS SOUND. Nor were they the first to incorporate the 60's era production into their music post-Motown/Phil Spector. Many modern R&B acts have incorporated this sound into their music: Boyz II Men, Mariah Carey, Lauryn Hill, Raphael Saadiq, Robin Thicke, En Vogue and countless others. The 90's girl group For Real, had a Motown inspired song called "Like I Do (No One's Gonna Love You)". Youtube it. This song was a top 10 hit.
Most people are too lazy to actually take the time to really listen to a variety of musical genres. So, they automatically assume that the first MAINSTREAM artisit to get famous with a particular style is the inventor. Get Real People.

This is pretty good, I am kind of shocked. I mean its a mindless corporate studio seeing talent/success like Amy or Duffy and trying to capitalize on it. But they may have actually done a decent job ripping people off for once. To bad they didn't do it just because its good music before the commercial demand forced them to but that might be asking to much.
I am sure middle America wont be happy with it because there is no 'dumb downed' hook for them played over and over and buy into.
Musically speaking this is pretty complex in todays pop/radio friendly standards.

Perez, this makes me very happy seeing a very popular artist little sister doing something that is nothing like her sisters music at all. She doesn't come out with a song that is like every other r&b song that gets instantly played on the pop-radios across america. She's doing something very different and classy. Before I clicked the video I imagined her singing something that sounded like a Beyonce song, although her voice is very similiar to Beyonce but its kind of hard to avoid that, but i was plesently surprised to hear a nice summery jazz song… and props on the positive comments from you, about the video aswell.
