I stayed up once for 46 hours, and I drank alot of coffee and redbull, and I can tell you that no I did not take any drugs, but you seriously feel like you are on some strong drugs- you slur, have slower reactions, I was having heart palpitations from all the caffeine- it is not something I would recommend to anyone but the first day you are edgy with no sleep, but after the second day you are in an altered state of mind for sure.

So weird. My husband and I were recently in the private AA lounge in San Fran waiting for our plane. She sat right next to us and was reading the paper and drinking hot tea. She looked so beautiful in person, and calm and healthy. We actually felt a little guilty because we were finishing off some kick ass Bloody Marys, and she seemd the picture of good health and restraint. She said hi as she sat down, but we didn't bug her since she seemed to be a very private person wanting to just be left alone. What a shock to see her acting this way on a nationally televised award show. Just seems to prove that you don't really know someone unless you know someone. Appearances are often deceiving!

Actually, in my college days, I remember staying awake that long to write term papers while studying for finals, and I didn't do hard drugs, just drank coffee. If I'm not mistaken, the longest anyone has stayed awake is 6 or 7 days–that's the record. By the time the last day came around, the guy was talking to himself–he had become deranged and died shortly thereafter. The point is–it can be done…and without drugs!
I must not be normal, cos I can stay up for 48 hours in a heartbeat - unless I'm depressed, then I can sleep 48.
