What I find interesting about your reporting on Samantha and Lindsay's relationship is your use of "SaMANtha" and "LezLo." To me, it seems weird for an advocate of GLBTQ folks to seemingly denigrate the femininity of a lesbian by calling her a man. It implies that you think that the sexual partner of a women SHOULD be a man. If you're trying to celebrate lesbian relationships, quit using these cutesy little bigoted quips. The way you slam/put down gay & lesbian relationships is using the same kind of jokes that homophobes use.

I think we should really be taking notice of how f'ed up it is that the media does not afford lindsay lohan the same privileges as other human beings. While I don't agree with your views on a hell of a lot of people (I LOVE Tila Tequila and can't stand Angelina Jolie), I think people's reactions to your "outings" are ridiculous. First and foremost, if people are going to go into the entertainment industry, they should know that their private lives will be scrutinized. When celebrites complain about reporters and paparazzi invading their privacy, its just fucking annoying, especially when they make so much money…be grateful for what you have!
Also, as a teenage lesbian myself, I want to see people like me in the media since the real people around me are so closeminded. The fact that these actors remain closeted when they can use their powerful position to help the gay community…it just seems selfish.

My thoughts:
1. LiLo is not even trying to hide her relationship with Sam, she hasnt been for many months really, so it's not really outing her.
2. For some reason in America lesbianism & bisexuality is extremely acceptable as normal for women, but in men it is still seen as an embarrassment and not manly. It is something I have noticed for a long time & dont understand.
3.I always feel a lil uneasy when you out people Perez, I get that it's your job & I get that you honestly believe they really dont have a reason to stay closeted. Working in the entertainment industries is def one of the most gay friendly areas, But people still have grandmother's back in Iowa who maybe arent as understanding, and while I doubt they read your site, they may read People who steals a lot of info from you. The decision to come out is very personal and difficult and I know they are public figures but why make that hard process more difficult?
4. In the long run though I value our freedoms of speech & press above anything else & you should report what you want without worrying what people think.

yeah, it's interesting what you pointed out about them. but to say that there's a double standard for queer women is kind of a stretch - I mean there's lots of double standards around gender, but with homophobia I think it works differently for men and women. This totally different for a guy to be gay than a girl. Lindsay Lohan is bisexual not lesbian, just the same for Paris Hilton and Elisha Cuthbert. I think it's different because women are different as far as sexual attraction goes. They are more fluid meaning they can change and it has less to do with the body than the person. i think that you are right about wentworth miller, and I think it is a great thing that the media reports on the gayness of certain celebs - after all, if talking about celebrity sexuality were made taboo, surely that would just make being gay less normal in society's eyes and more of an issue? I think it is good to have celebs that people can recognize as gay - they have tons of influence on people and gay celebrities make normal gay people more accepted. Also, if you are a closet homosexual, you take the chance of being "outed" when you take the spotlight - otherwise you just wouldn't wanna be famous, and when people are like "oh but i always wanted to act / sing / etc.," there are thousands of people who choose to follow their dream of acting / singing etc. but don't wanna be famous.

I think what you're saying about media and their attitude towards lesbians versus gays is definitely how it is, and I've noticed it too. Throughout history it can be noted that lesbians may be quietly accepted or completely ignored while gays are either loathed, encouraged (ancient greek, mentor-student relationships) or hated. Gays raise emotions while lesbians are nondescript, seriously what is that? Is it because society is still secretly male-dominant?
