Phillippe met the Australian actress on the set of a film and it is reported that the two started having an affair while he was still married to the Legally Blonde actress.

Reese Witherspoon is not a saint, but her PR team is brilliant at portraying her as so and Ryan as the bad guy. Out of the camera eye, Reese treated her husband like dirt, hard for the public to believe because she's America's Sweetheart, and in return, he went into another woman's arms. So good for him. I hope that he is treated better in this relationship than in the last.

I have seen similar situations like this one with Abbey, Reese and Ryan a lot with couples who work in the same industry, place, or career. Ryan was almost a no body when he got Reese pregnant and married her. He probably felt like the world saw him as "the guy who got Reese Witherspoon pregs" and starting off with an uneven keel like that is rocky. The poor guy could never feel like a real man in her shadow. No need to hate in either direction just the nature of the beast in these types of situations.

I know Reese. She's an awesome person - a GOOD person, but she is not easy, which she knows (she even called her co. little miss type A). Ryan and Reese met YOUNG - 20 and got pregnant w/i 7 months, so they immediately married (she was 21, he was 22). He tried to do the right thing, but they were a terrible match. He's very easy and carefree and fun-loving. She is organized and uptight and serious. They both tried VERY hard to make the marriage work, but it so clearly didn't. Reese was adamantly against divorce, yet they both were miserable, especially Ryan. She so stiffled him and was always yelling and controlling. Ryan tried very hard, but he was so unhappy. He did right by her. He didn't ask for a dime of alimony, and he is such a good father. But, he couldn't stay. Abbie didn't wreck any home - Reese and Ryan were over; their marriage was already done, they were roommates and partners, but he wanted out and something real. Abbie is such a better match for him, and Jake is a better match for her. This is absolutely a case of two people getting into a situation too young, doing their best and then doing the hard and right thing of splitting and taking care of their kids while taking the high road and being respectful. Leave them alone. They are all good people and doing okay now, after much suffering and heartbreak.
