Janet Jackson was recently asked what the next single off her new album will be.
Miz Jackson answered with disappointing news:
That’s pretty difficult to say, only because of the record label at this point. We started off with Feedback and the label and myself haven’t quite seen eye to eye since the Feedback single so they’ve kind of basically stopped all promotion. I’m trying to figure out a way to say this, but just to say it and to be quite honest, they just stopped all promotion whatsoever on the album so I don’t think you’re going to hear another single off this album.
What do y'all think?

That sucks. I love the album! Hopefully we can and will hear something. I mean, she's been doing a lot of TV so they didn't really, fully stop promoting.

The reason Ms. Jackson is because your music sux the high hard one. Like Mariah, Mary J. Blige, etc, you keep recording the same song over and over. Re: HarryJ Don,t make me laugh Janet stealing Madonnas ideas, Madonna has never had any ideas to begin with her image and sound from confessions was stolen from Goldfrapp, she has and still continues to steal other peoples ideas Madonnas latest effort Hard Candy is hardly groundbreaking that Timberland sound has been done now for years and it don,t even suit her, where have you been? Janet needs to review the people around her and get back to basics and write or co-write her own stuff that is where all her greatest hits have come from. Discipline is not a bad album especially when you compare it to Hard Candy which is wack! But she could improve by getting totally unknown producers and having her own creative input which has been lacking from her previous albums. She has lost control of her career since Superbowl incident and clearly needs to change direction. I like Mariah also but her sound is not that different from her last album, I wish certain people would just get off Janets case, the way some are attacking her as if she has done something personal to them.

Def Jam didn't give a fuck about Janet, they would not let her write her own songs and then they stopped promoting her album as soon as Mariahs was about to be released, Feedback was getting mad props in the UK, but they never bothered to promote it over here, so it sank but those who heard it loved it, Janet needs to find a label that will let Janet be Janet!

Re: Oggie I agree that Def Jam did not have Janet's interest at heart at all, Feedback got no airplay at all in the UK even though it had more favourable reviews than Madonnas latest CD . It seems like both the Industry and certain people what I can see from this blog are biased. She could release a masterpiece and they will still hate. Janet can still do it. Her entire career is based on overcoming hurdles before Control she had no say in her own music, Janet had 2 failed albums behind her but still made Control a hit after changing her team and having her own input. Janet is in this situation again but this time she also has the sexist and racist industry against her. She should start her own lable and write her own music and go with unknown producers and then market her own music via the internet.

I used to be a big fan of hers, but she's just so boring lately!! Her music hasn't been any good since The Velvet Rope. She needs to do something new. It's always the same old, same old with her now. She should just quit music and do movies if she can't do any better than this.

Renee had some influence in her videos as director, but not her music. I agree Jermaine Dupri is destroying her career, she has not made bad music since velvet rope just mediocre at best. She needs to get of that label quick time and don,t let Jermaine have any input in her music . She still has it. But needs to bring it with something fresh with her own ideas and different producers . The sad thing is Discipline was actually a good album with potential hits Janet should not retire but explore other avenues like acting.

Which was not marketed right at all, they both had good reviews . 2nite and Luv are also potential singles. Janet has had a raw deal from both the industry and now her lable. Sounds a little weird……maybe it's because of poor album sales? Feedback really was the only decent song off the album, Before it was released i red all over that her new cd was going to be a great dance album, it really isn't…it's actually boring…LOL Sounds like the same problem Courtney Love had with America'S Sweetheart, no promotion for it, and only really MONO as an official release…….Anyways if you ask me i think it's pretty fucking sad that she is controlled that much where she can't even make another single off the album…….i'm not a Janet Jackson fan but I would be pissed if i head this…I'm sure it has to do with extreamly poor album sales…I don't thik it even made the top 5 here in Canada the first week of release, maybe her career is over? LUV and Rock With You and Feedback are all great and should be big hits but the record label is obviously very misguided.
Don't go blaming the record label, that is SO 2006!! It's about money, and if your album is not getting the buzz from the public to justify the money the company spent at first, then no more will be spent & promotion will cease. That's called marketing, people. This used to not be an issue for Janet, but now it is because she's not musically relevant anymore - something the fans with blinders don't wanna embrace.
I love Janet & all… but her musical career is as dry as a bone now. This is a woman who used to sell 10 million copies every album, damn-near, and now is lucky to break a million. This is now a person who hasn't gone multi-platinum in 7 years & we got a bunch of net bloggers still pretending she's musically still relevant. It's hypocritical. If Beyonce were to have ONE album not sell as well as expected, some of you would be saying "She's washed up, she needs to go sit down because she flopped." Yet Janet can spend 7 years, dropping album after album & barely even hit a million, and no one wants to say she flopped. That's a double standard. It's OK to say we love her AND that she flopped. Doesn't have to be an either-or.

Considering the fact that she'll be touring in support of the album, I think a new single is worth releasing! Perhaps The #1 with Missy Elliot? However the album's pretty weak except for a couple of tunes.
Each person is entitled to their own opinion. But in my own opinion Janet is still relevant she had at least 4 potential hits from her album which sadly will not see the light of day due to her current lable mismanaging her career. I hope Janet keeps doing her thing and to people saying she,s not selling millions as she use to, it is impossible for any artist now to sell those numbers. Janet has still got a solid fanbase her album did go to no 1 on billboard. I agree she needs to revamp her sound but I still feel she has talent but it is not being harnessed properly.

The truth is Janet has been blacklisted by the music industry since 2004. This has had a knock on effect on her overall sales. Janet,s international market is suffering as a result of this as they are not getting any acess to her music via radio or music channels hence lower sales than usual and now her own record lable has dissed her due to poor sales, through no fault of her own. I agree with the poster saying Janet needs to tour the rest of the world where she still has fan bases that do appreciate Janets music. These days it seems people with no talent can top the charts. It does not seem fair as Discipline is actually a good album. I say it is time for Janet to change direction musically. Jermaine Dupri is like poison to her music career and is not helping at all. Janet still has it in her to produce a hit but she should take a back seat for a while and let the American public forget about that incident even though it has been like 4 years. All the other great divas like Mariah, Madonna have had low moments in their careers but they have all managed to come back.
