In an indirect way, yes. This war has cost billions. Money has been diverted that might have gone elsewhere - i.e,government-sponsored research & development to aid the private business sector in competition, efficiency, etc. . The US just isn't keeping up with other countries, such as China. Does that effect our economy, our dollar…hell, yes. And the current republican adiministration is just about finding more oil — not putting any massive effort into finding alternative energy sources. Thus, gas prices continue to rise without any real alternative.

Do a little research; Obama was against the war before it began, and gave a speech indicating his view when it was extremely unpopular to do so, and could have been political suicide. Try reading his books. He is an intelligent and thoughtful person, with many ideas that tend to go down the center; he continually speaks of compromise and the dangers of solving problems based on ANY ideological bent. I used to LOVE McCain, back in 2000, when he was himself, but I don't know who that man is that is wearing his skin now.

Elizabeth is awesome! I like Whoopi too, but it's easy to fight for a view point when you have other people supporting you (the two sitting next to her and most of Hollywood). Elizabeth always has an informed argument and stands her ground, despite all the attacks she constantly withstands. The world needs more women like her; she's a fantastic role model regardless of her political affiliation. Disagreeing with one's politics is no reason to call her names. My roommate has waited on her and said she was genuinely a lovely person and was one of her most pleasant patrons ever. How one treats a server is an excellent indication as to who the person really is. I know, I waited tables for 8 years. Cut this woman some slack.
