Prescription drug companies employ a ton of people. Remember that when Michael Moore tells you how big and bad they are. They are responsible for paying a lot of people's bills.
Perez, I love ya man, but I need to comment on the Pharmaceutical diss. Yes, direct to consumer advertising is out of control, I totally agree. It often encourages a patient to go ask for a specific drug that may not necessarily be the best one for them. However….I am from the same area where Micheal Moore started his research years ago. The reason he came to focus more on the health insurace side of things is because he had very little findings on the pharmaceutical side of things.
He tried busting unethical representitives, catering to the physicans, wining and dining them. But Pharma Code (a code all of us must abide by) was in place and he saw that would could not even buy cookies without an explanation. The cost of prescriptions…proven research costs shut him down.
Like I said, I agree with you that direct to consumer advertising is out of control, but it does help with some disease awareness. Gosh…if it weren't for them think of how many people would be running around with herpes!!!!!! haha
