Re: Ksmurfer – You need to take a deeper look into your American laws and even health care practices regarding blacks….He's not making excuses he's educating, in order for others to understand where and what blacks have gone through…..For so long blacks have had to fight…How do you lose that fighting mentality????Nasir Jones=Real MC

    205

I agree with Ksmurfer. Stop blaming other people for your problems because your ancestors MIGHT have been a slave !!!!! FYI: SLAVES AND SERVANTS WERE OF ALL RACES, NOT JUST BLACK. Nas is basically perpetuating this self deprecating behavior. Why doesn't he set up a fund for education and community development and ask them all to donate $15.00, instead of pocketing their money. It must be easier to get rich off ignorant people. Listening to this crap will do nothing but create unbased bad feelings. Using your power as a celebrity in this manner is deplorable. If you buy into this crap you will be unsuccessful and slavery has nothing to do with it. I commend Bill Cosby for stepping up and telling people to be responsible for themselves.

I like the tune I think the Piano is tuned out on purpose folks Im pretty sure the staff of 20 in the studio would have pointed that out, its just too bad this song isnt about getting people who feel like they are being held back to get off their ass and oh I dont know do something, VOTE go to School, stop global warming, you get the idea, There could be a better message in such a powerful song!

    Re: Christ

Um, are you really ignorant enough to think that your small corner of the country reflects all of America? Where I live it's mostly white people doing what you described. Why should I be bitter about that? If you're doing what you need to get done to be successful, why do you care what others are doing? To say "I'll stop being racist when…" would be laughable if it wasn't so sad. Unfuckingbelievable.

  9. wow says – reply to this

    209

And this does not promote racism of the white race, or any other race for that matter? How can we applaude Obama for wanting to unite our country and at the same time appalude someone like this who is still promoting separation by making statments like Nas did in this rap…we are so far out of the generation of slavery and yet this message is something African Americans can not let go of, why?
This song is not powerful, it is pitiful. It is a blaring example of how it is okay for an black american to scream injustice, but no one else. I am white, and no I don't live in a ghetto, but I can say that my great-grandfather, grandfather, father, worked their ass off to keep our family taken care of…maybe that is the problem in the black race…where are the fathers??

Just remember all Perez post on Jessica Alba. I think Perez Hilton is a Racist. If you ever been to South Beack Calle Ocho, you'll notice many Cubans just like Perez and I speak from experience.

    212

Shit. Soooooo shit. Pretty much all of his songs are the same.
"N****r this, N****r that, white people suck, blah blah fucking blah"
Stop using the race card and get over it Nas. You're not "shocking" anyone any more. You're a racist fuck who KEEPS drawing attention to racism through your music. Sing about something different for a change. GAH!!!

  13. dick says – reply to this

    213

So, let me get this straight, because of past injustices, and blacks that were forced to work, the rest of the black generations are too tired to work?
Lets face it. Most of the people who like this song… whatever this piece of shit is, are looking for a handout!!
Hey we all would like a hand-out!
It is, after all the American way!!!
Most of our politicians are corrupt, and take what they can, so I don't blame your people for trying to get your own.
You've been polluted with idealogical ideas from loser leaders like Al Sharpton !! Ha Ha! anyone remember Tawanna Brawley??
Thats what I thought. He calls himself a Rev???

  14. dick says – reply to this

    214

But I am calling BULLSHIT on the whole oppression thing.
I have seen all races Spanish, Asian, East Indian, Mexicans, and REAL Africans, most speak other languages as a primary, and learn English as a secondary, get an eduction and in 5-8 years have made something of themselves. Professors, IT, Doctors, Kwiki-Mart owners, even lawn mowers, but these people work their asses off!!!
How come home-grown black Americans have so much trouble "Getting It"
NOTHING IS FREE OR EASY IN THIS COUNTRY!!!!!
YOU NEED TO WORK FOR IT!!!!!
And you don't get credit for your Great Grandfathers work!!!!!
    As do any of us!!
Again, get off the crack, stop smoking the crippy buds (it's takes your ambition away), stop making so many fucking babies (without fathers), get an education (GED or anything Trade or skill) go to fucking work, and move out of the ghetto ASAP!!!
Follow these steps, and I guarantee you will succeed.

Re: dick – Dick (how appropriate), why don't you help too? Tell your people to fund the "ghetto-welfare-check" attented schools as well as they do white schools, so that they can pass exams to get in to college. Tell your people to stop spending time cheating people out of tax money (go, DC!), and create programs that DO help people find better jobs, so that they don't have to depend on welfare. Or will you then worry about us "taking YOUR jobs"?

    BTW…
Any old-school blacks will remember NWA "Niggaz 4 Life" 1991
They should be pissed that this little shit used the lyrics to the Dr. Pepper tune right from the last 5 seconds of this song!!!
At a minimum, he is un-original, and is living off NWAs dicks from 1991.
If Dr. Pepper doesn't sue him, I hope NWA does!!!
So, in 1991 NWA open this wound, and again in 2008 this guy is picking at the scab. If you keep picking scabs, the wound will NEVER heal!

I like the music, but I dont like hearing the N-word all the time. Guess what people!? I almost never hear that word. Unless its in a music video. Im sure many black people hear it all to often. But not from me nor anyone I respect.

THIS IS JUST A SHAMEFUL MARKETING PLOT TO "HYPE" UP ALBUM SALES AND IT IS A DISPICABLE WAY TO PORTRAY HOW EVRY BLACK PERSON FEELS.

I DO NOT WANT TO BE ATTACHED TO THIS SONG IN ANY WAY,SHAPE,OR FORM

    238

I'm happy that Perez played this video as I doubt it highly that I'd ever see it any other way. Not to confuse, I'm not a fan of this video. I am not American and I'm also white. I've had many black friends and my best friend is black. I see the struggles that they face and I feel sorry for anyone who is judged based solely on the color of their skin instead of the level of their character or intelligence. Where I come from there is a huge difference though. Racisim is not nearly close to the level of ignorance as in the U.S. I've spent some time in your country and I was surprised at how much racism was all around. I get very offended when people assume that just cause I'm white I belong to "the secret club" and start spewing their opinions onto me.

  39. Why? says – reply to this

    239

    Part 2
The worst… When your alone with someone. Lets say, in a cab. And the white driver thinks it's totally ok to start throwing around rasict comments cause there's nobody else around to hear. Or, Dear old 65 year old Aunt Edna. Who's from the old school. (As your parents have told you since you were 8) Aunt Edna feels its ok to spew her veiws to everyone over the course of the day. Of course she's not gonna have a huge discussion about it as "she's not a racist" she's "from the old school'. But, she will throw out derogatory comments threw out the day.

I try my best to judge people on their character, intelligence and sense of loyalty as opposed to their skin color or cultural background.

Native Americans have been fighting terrorism and racism since 1492.

Re: Myzaree – because love, your case is the minority. everybody gets fuck in life, its the way of the world …deal with it…everyone should deal with it….our society runs on exploitation and the idea that we are and should stay divided…..Blacks, Jews, Arabs,Whites,East Indians, Asians, Latinos and Native Americans in one form or another get fucked and i think that part where he spills out all the racial slurs i think thats what he was trying to say( even though i think they are more eloquent ways to say this) i could be wrong. We need to get over our racial divide cause too many other things in today's society that divides us. And we can't function divided we will kill our selves

It is another sad day for the African American community. Get over your anger. Our young blacks are there own undoing. Take responsibility for your bad choices. This song perpetuates the hate THEY keep alive and use as their excuse for all sorts of bad behavior. Get over it and move up!!!!!!

    Re: Ksmurfer

Your comments were amazingly refreshing. I am a white woman, let's get that out there. However, I love the black community as my little adopted brother is from Haiti and my older sister is about to marry a large beautiful black man. I know there are people who still persecute the black race. However, I feel the black community represses themselves by hanging onto issues that happened so long ago. I actually find it very sad when a black person or group makes true all of the terrible stereotypes that have been placed on them. In this video, Nas comes across as the predictable angry black man. What does he have to be so angry about? He is a wealthy and questionably successful young man. Lose the angst and enjoy the talent and opportunity. Quit blaming everyone else for your choices.
Thanks for your intelligent and open state of mind.

Wow! You just took all focus off what makes this video so wrong and just cast a giant spotlight on your completely unintelligent and closed mind. You are so part of the problem. Here I wish the black community would try to find a way to let go of those oppressive times and you live in them, using those issues as weapons. Just as Nas was not directly involved in slavery times, you had nothing to do with "bringing" anyone anywhere but down to the lowest of levels…yours. Very sad.

To almost everybody who posted here…REALLY…is this song that different than a Chris Rock show or Chapelle. Like NAS or not the song keeps the issue of racism in the public eye in a way that might sneak into a teens ears and get them doing research to see where all the deep seeded racism that we have in America comes from. Oh…and to the one person who wants the days of Tribe Called Quest back, did you ever really listen to Tribe. They had a song called 'Succa Nigga'. That was about fifteen years ago. NAS did not create shock music nor will it stop with the haters of this song.

I am not saying that this song is the best in the world but the only way you could have understand anything that he is say is that you open your fucking eyes and realize that any minority has had some type of stuggle but the african americans believe that they were fucked over because we were forced to be here and lost of roots soo we couldnt go back..we fought for everything that we have as far as right and most "blacks" believes its unfair for other minorities to come to this country and get treated with more respect than we do. get some fucking knowledge then speak. firstly honey. slavery still exists today. it may not be in the fields, with whips and nooses, but if you open your eyes and expand your little mind, it's still there. we are slaves to the policies our government makes in regards to oil and gas. we are slaves because some of us cannot freely marry. we are slaves to the prevailing ignorance and racism that exists in minds like yours. think outside the box, slavery still exists today.

and do reseatch before you come up with an ABSURD statement that africa and other countries sold their people into slavery. they were taken, coerced, not given a choice.would you SELL your father or sister? give away your best friend for a profit.im just saying, think it through before youmake a ludacris statement like that. or at least back it up. geez!

I can see people listening to this song and going on a violence spree. Mark my words, when this drops, there will be black on white violence. And maybe some white on black violence because this song made me that angry. The only thing holding black people back, is black people. I am so tired of hearing "whitey is holding us down!" It's bullshit! Stop blaming other people for your own shit.

All this is going to do is make black people look ghetto & stupid, once again. Why can't we just put this behind us? I understand that racism is still a problem til' this day, but the fact that we keep being reminded of it, makes it worse, to me really. Not all black people feel this way. Like someone else said, why can't there be more Will Smiths in the world? Instead of the ghetto, baggy jean wearing below the waist, wearing guys?

Norally I don't mind his music but this is awful. Its him shouting a racial slur every few seconds, how are people supposed to move forward if theres still things like THIS beingmade?
And everyone knows what people went through as slaves back in the day but that was in nobodies livetime thats here NOW.

To all of you spouting that "this only makes it harder for blacks" or "this makes blacks look bad": SHUT THE F*CK UP!

Do you not realize you are part of the problem? Why should I or any other black PERSON (not "blacks" like we are some kinda alien life form lol) be affected by what a black artist says or does? Please explain.

Is your life directly affected when Britney Spears makes a drunken ass of herself? When "Kramer" lost his cool, did it reflect how you feel? When Lindsey Lohan forgets her underwear, does it make all white women look bad? What about "girls gone wild"… that REALLY set white co-eds back.

PLEASE go back to discussing mindless sh*t like Avril's bf. Leave the real debates of hip-hop culture to those who know something about it.

    Thanks in advance!

    Powerful.

Okay, so I'm white. We have no choice of our color. We are who we are. I have raised my children to respect people of all colors, as we are all the same. We're all human. I have taught them that my door is open to anyone that they choose to date or marry or live with, or be friends with for that matter, no matter their color….white, black, brown, hell even purple. I don't care…as long as it's a good person that treats my child right (and my children KNOW they had better treat their loved ones right), I accept them as my own. I have been put down for this by many racist people. Oh well. I live as I feel I should live and that's how it's going to be. Racism is still alive and terrible as you all know…but I see it here in Arizona so much. It makes me sick. My son's best friend is black and he (the best friend) calls me mom. You should see the reaction to people in public when he walks up to me and says hi mom! And then we hug. Always. I love him as a son. He didn't have it easy growing up so he kind of stayed with my sons.

Stop fucking judging this. It's amazing, just because you don't like this type of music doesn't mean you have the ability to Criticize a rap legend.
Just because you fucking retards are used to Lil' Wayne, doesn't mean you have to put this down.
Nas is amazing. Listen to the lyrics. He's making a statement to remember, he will always be a ledgend.

I'm sorry… and who are YOU to request more "Will Smith's"????

I swear, some of you white people are a trip! For the record: you cannot control ANYONE but yourself. If you don't understand a culture, or find a certain style of dress or music intimidating then keep clutching your ugly gf's hand and crossing the street to avoid the non-Will-Smith-black-men. You are in NO position to place demands on how others dress and carry themselves.

just because nas is black and voicing his own PERSONAL opinions doesnt mean he's BFFs with, or should influence your opinion of black presidential candidate Obama. its people with logic like you that hinders the change that both men are seeking, but it very different ways.

Nas is not a racist, he is making you express your ignorance on Perez's website by bringing up this subject. Just because you don't understand doesn't mean you are smart, IDIOT.

Is it so hard to realize that over three hundred years of slavery and racial oppression had consequences, and that people will not just "get over it" in less than 150 years? It will take at least as much time, if not longer, to undue the damage done by the legacy of slavery in this country. There is no quick fix, and people of all colors are so ignorant when they don't realize that racial oppression is rooted in slavery, regardless of when the actual crimes occured.

This is the reason why racisim in this country will never die. Here you have a black man, successful, intelligent, talented….who is doing nothing but facilitating the same consistent mind set of blacks in America: that white people are your enemy. By pointing out all the flaws of his own race he just made it even more apparent that there will never be equality among any of us.

WTF, this is to fucking stupid it would take a black man to keep throwing racism up sorry but there are other groups of people across the board that have to struggle white people who are'nt racist have to get this thrown in there face all the time. Its not your race that holds your people back its there inablitly on the most part to breeak the cycles of violence in there community.Don't blame anyone but yourself for your failure. We have quotas to fill minorities with good paying jobs you are given oppertunities to better yourselves and refuse to expand on it no ones holding you back anymore so shut the fuck up and quit whining
