Shia LaBeouf LaDouche is "embarrassed" by the 'slapping fight' video that's been circulating on the internets.
You know, the one where LaDouche successfully provokes a pal to give it to him by calling him a “faggot.”
Shia's rep says, “The videotape that is currently being circulated is several years old and captures Shia playing a game among friends in which he uses a derogatory word toward a friend. He regrets having used the word in any capacity and is very embarrassed that this footage is being seen by anyone.”

In all fairness — until the last two years, that word did not have the same taboo status as it does now. It was even used on Will and Grace. NOT SAYING THAT IT IS NOT OFFENSIVE. But we should look at his use of the word in context. I'm glad that he knows better now and trust that he will DO BETTER going forward.

Having not seen the video myself, I can't know the exact context of the comment, but if it was filmed awhile ago, and he is 20 something, then he was a teenager. While teenagers can sometimes say stupid things, it doesn't excuse the fact that it was wrong. Youth isn't an excuse. Youth have the ability to control their actions and the things they say and should be responsible for said things. I mean in reality, many people, even the best of people, have weak moments. I read through 86 responses and no one has caught on to the real significance of the posting of this video on YouTube - within the last few months Shia has spoken in interviews about dropping lifelong friends who "no longer fit his current lifestyle".
Each one of us will have a different reaction to his words (I find it very mildly offensive, but no big deal). But the more troubling issue is that Shia is beginning to prove that he is not very good at relationships - whoever posted the video clearly meant to embarrass him, and the timing (on his 22nd birthday) was no accident. His clear lack of ability to deal with women as people instead of objects is also troubing, especially from someone who is NOT dumb (provisionally admitted to Yale, if I remember correctly).
I think that Shia is talented (maybe very talented - so far, he's been better than the material he's been given to work with) (especially his terribly- written part in Indy 4).
But Shia needs to get his off-camera life under better control if he is to reach his potential.
